Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Marie Kitts Nelson, 52, of 3033 Transmitter Road in Panama City, who passed away Friday, May 4, 2001, at her home will be held at 10 a.m. today, May 7, 2001, at the Springfield Community Church with the Rev. J.W. Hunt and the Rev. Dale Worley officiating. Interment will follow at the Oakland Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Charles Garner, Pete Macks, Mike Terry, Donnie Webb, Fred Conrad, Bill Limban, John Bunkley, Charles Lawrence, Rusty Rooney, Webb Clements, John Hamre, Donald Conwell and Pete Smith. Honorary pallbearers are the Bay District School Transportation Department. The family would like to express a special thanks to Hospice of Northwest Florida.

HELEN B. JOHNSON
Mrs. Helen B. Johnson of 146 Hill Drive in Panama City, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2001, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of Bay County for 47 years after coming from Dothan, Ala. Mrs. Johnson attended Callaway Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Beauford H. Johnson Sr., of Panama City; one daughter, Carole Koagel, of Panama City; two sons, Beauford H. Johnson Jr. and Bobby E. Johnson, both of Panama City; three grandchildren, Michelle Roberts, of Fort Lauderdale, Chris Johnson and Justin Busch, both of Panama City; one sister, Mary Irvin, of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today, May 7, 2001, at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bobby Thompson officiating. Interment will follow.

WILLIE MAUDE POWELL
Mrs. Willie Maude Powell, 78, of 501 E. North Street in Bonifay, passed away May 4, 2001, at her residence. Her husband, James Powell preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, Willard and wife, Bonnie Powell of Bonifay, Wayne and wife, Judy Powell of Bonifay and Randall and wife, Anola Powell of Panama City; one daughter, Frances and husband, Buddy Bowyer, of Bonifay; sister, Dorothy Phillips of Geneva, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be today at 11 a.m. at West Bonifay Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Anderson and the Rev. Jerry Edwards officiating. Burial will be at the Bonifay City Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home directing.

LORINZO LEE TEW JR.
Lorinzo Lee Tew Jr., age 64, went to be with his Lord on Friday, May 4, 2001. He was born in Slocomb, Ala., and moved to Panama City, Fla., in 1940. He moved his family to Niceville, Fla., in 1959, where he and his wife owned and operated Tew's Bakery for 20 years. In 1980, he accepted a civil service position at Tyndall AFB as a master baker and had been there for the past 21 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty M. Tew of Youngstown, who cared for him faithfully during his illness and their five children, one son, Lorinzo Lee Tew III of Niceville, daughters, Debbie Elliott and husband, Clay of Niceville, Donna Courtney and husband, Wayne of Niceville, Deniese Carter and husband, Bob of Youngstown and Diana Siela and husband, Gary of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three brothers, Gerald Tew and wife, Emma of McClenny, Fla., Herbert Tew and wife, Yessie of Kingman, Ariz., and Carl Tew of Niceville; sister, Joyce Crandall and husband, Bob of Niceville; seven grandchildren, Crystal, Jennifer, Austin, Andrew, Matthew, Jessica and Jake; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be conducted today, May 7, at 11 a.m. in First Pentacostal Church, 179 N. Tyndall Parkway, with the Rev. Allen Crabtree officiating. Graveside services will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mr. Harold J. Davis, age 58 of Panama City, Fla., who passed away Sunday, May 6, 2001, will be held at 10 a.m. today, May 9, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories with Masonic Rites at the graveside. Mr. James J. Girdner III, age 70, of Gautier, Miss., and formerly of Andalusia, Ala., died Friday, April 27, 2001, at his residence. Funeral service will be today, May 9, at graveside, Stone Lake Gardens Cemetery with brother Terry Stewart officiating. Interment to follow in Stone Lake Gardens Cemetery. Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Koppel of Panama City; one son, James Alan Girdner of Pensacola; one grandson, Jason Alan Moulder; one brother, W.C. Girdner of Gantt, Ala.; two sisters, Lois Girdner of Gantt, Ala. and Helen Carroll of Crestview; a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are, Don Lewis, Lamar Best, Michael Carroll, Otis Ray Gunter, James Rabren and M.V. Stokes. Foreman Brown Service Funeral Home of Andalusia, Ala., is in charge of the arrangements.

OLGA JULIA GWALTNEY
Mrs. Olga Julia Gwaltney, 98, of 1205 Drake Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at her home. Born in Finland, she was a longtime resident of this area. She was a physiotherapist with New York General Hospital and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Her husband, Capt. Rupert R. Gwaltney, precedes her in death. Mrs. Gwaltney is survived by one sister, Sally Tavistola of Rauma, Finland; nephew, William Ickason and wife, Valerie of Sudbury, Conn.; very dear friend and legal health provider, J. Bare "Joan" Wilson of Panama City; numerous nieces, nephews and many dedicated loving caretakers. Funeral services will be held today, May 9, at 11 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Dr. Gerald Butts, Freddie McNeil, John Mackus, Burt Gwaltney, David Gwaltney and Coley Gwaltney. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redemption Lutheran Church in memory of Mrs. Gwaltney.

Elizabeth McKee, 70, of Panama City Beach, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, in a local hospital. She was a native of Philadelphia, Pa., but had been residing with her husband, John McKee, in Bay County for the past several years. The family request memorialization by cremation.

WILLIE JAMES BARNES
Mr. Willie James Barnes, 58, of 1722 W. 17th St. Apt. M-104 died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at his home. He was native of Atmore, Ala. He worked as a paint and body specialist and sang with the Sunset Four Gospel Quartet. He had been a resident of Panama City for many years. He was preceded in death by brothers, Sam Jr. and Woodrow Barnes and sister, Susie M Lawson. He is survived by his wife, Bethene Barnes and three sons, Walter (Dorothy) Barnes, Calvin Barnes, Nakia A. Barnes and two daughters, Koscina (Edward) King, Lunette and husband Alphonso; brothers, Bobby Barnes Sr., Monty A. Barnes; sisters, Mrs. Ella (Alvin) Edwards, Nellie L.King, Maggie G. McClain and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Robert Sharp and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Barnes will be held Friday, May 11, at 1 p.m. in Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Lonnie Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin this afternoon at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m .

ETHEL McFARLAND BRIDGES
Mrs. Ethel McFarland Bridges of Apalachicola died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at her home. She was born in Bay County, Fla., June 12, 1901, reared in Frink Community in Calhoun County and has resided in Franklin County for over 50 years. The last surviving member of her generation, Mrs. Bridges was predeceased by her husband, Mann Marvin Bridges; parents, Frank and Jane McClellan McFarland; brothers, Pete, Gus, Perry Delma, Everett and Earl. Her sisters were Ellen Cumbie, Zola Maddox and Viola Wimberly. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Mrs. Bridges served in the Women's Army Corps (WAC's) during World War II. She was employed in the Franklin County Tax Assessor's office for many years, worked in the Florida Capitol, and with the Senior Citizens Organization of Apalachicola. "Miss Ethel" has been active in local civic organizations. She was a charter and lifetime member of Port St. Joe Garden Club and had served as a District II Director, and was active in the Burse Club and the Ladies Guild of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and the Apalachicola Bay and River Keepers Association. Visitation will be at Kelley Funeral Home today, May 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11 at 10 a.m. EDT in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Interment will be at 2 p.m. EDT at McClellan Cemetery in Frink, Fla. Nephews of Mrs. Bridges will serve as pallbearers.

CHARLES DAVIS
Mr. Charles "Charlie" Davis, 74, of Port St. Joe, Fla., died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, in Tallahassee. Born in Early County, Ga., he moved here in 1947. He was retired from St. Joe Paper Company and a member of First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe. He was also past president of Local Papermakers Union No. 379. One son, Lane Davis precedes him in death. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Bobbie Davis of Port St. Joe; mother, Esther Davis of Albany, Ga.; one son, Jimmy Davis and wife Anita of Kingston, N.Y.; one daughter, Donna Jo Herndon and husband Dale of St. George, Fla.; four grandchildren, Shannon Jo Hicks, Summer Davis, Amber Davis and Brittney Herndon; one great-grandson, Riley Hicks; one brother, Gene Davis; three sisters, Valdine Faulk, Barbara Ann McFaddenand Gail Collins; many nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 11 at 2 p.m. EDT in Holly Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Brent Vickery officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT.

NOAH GLISSON JR
Noah Glisson Jr., 86, of Greenwood, died Tuesday, May, 8, 2001, at his residence. He was born in the Parramore community and was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. He was a rancher for more than 50 years. He was of the Baptist faith and he attended Circle Hill Baptist Church for many years. He is survived by his wife Bell Jordan Glisson of Greenwood; one son, Harrell Glisson of Greenwood; two daughters, Wynell Davis of Greenwood and Ann Smith of Panama City; seven grandchildren, Michael P. Smith, Dr. Kenneth W. Smith, David Glisson Smith, Charlene Vivian Santiago, Bill Davis Jr., Heather Ann Hartwig and Harrell Marsh. Funeral services will be held today, May 10, at 11 a.m. CDT at Circle Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Ronnie Wright and Bill Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & James Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Northwest Florida, 2917-B Optimist Drive, Marianna, Fla. 32448.
