Mr. Elvin Vann Jr., 57, of Wewahitchka, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at his home. He was a native of Calhoun County, Fla., but had been a long-time resident of Wewahitchka. He leaves behind seven sisters and three brothers-in-law, Mrs. Mattie Hill, Mrs. Dorothy Noble (Willie Floyd Noble), Ms. Bernice Vann and Mrs. Mildred Myers (Roy Myers Jr.), all of Wewahitchka, Mrs. Ruby Nash (Roger Lee Nash) of San Jose, Calif., Ms. Essie Vann of Panama City and Ms. Bobbie Vann of Sarasota; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Vann will be held Thursday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. in Faison Temple in Wewahitchka. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery. Public visitation will begin today at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state two hours prior to services at the church.

Mr. Dale I. Watkins, 94, of Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, in a local hospital. Born in Indiana
, he moved here in 1968 from Ithaca, N.Y. He was employed by Standard Oil and Cornell University. He was also a member of Temple Baptist Church. Mrs. Gaynell Sarvis Beaty, 66, of 313 Shadecrest Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a lifetime resident of the area and a member of Springfield United Methodist Church. Mrs. Beaty is survived by her husband, Tom Beaty of Panama City; a daughter, Teresa G. Miller and her husband Scott of Panama City; sons: Greg Beaty and his wife Connie of New Smyrna, Fla., Michael R. Beaty and his wife Gail of Lynn Haven, Bill Beaty and his wife Alice of Tallahassee, and Thomas Beaty Jr. and his wife Sandy of Panama City; a sister, Laura Foy of Spartanburg, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. EVA SAUER BIRCHER
Mrs. Eva Sauer Bircher, age 92, of Costa Mesa, Calif., departed this life to her eternal home Feb. 14, 2001. She was born in Owensboro, Ky., Aug. 4, 1908. She was a pioneer Minister with the Living Word of Faith Fellowship Inc. As an Evangelist and Pastor, she began her Ministry at age 28. She traveled through the United States and Foreign Mission Fields. Mrs. Bircher loved the Mission Field and helped many Ministers and Orphanages during her ministry. Prior to moving to California, she lived in Panama City for nine years with her sister, Ethel Chancellor. She loved her friends and Springfield Community Church. Pastor J.W. Hunt brought lots of joy and sunshine into her life. Mrs. Bircher is survived by three daughters: Dorothy Young, Beverly Duda, and Alma Osborne, all of Calilfornia; one son, Floyd Sauer of Spokane, Wash.; 31 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sauer; one daughter, Velma-Lea; two sons, John Sauer Jr. and Chuck Sauer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Springfield Community Church with the Rev. J.W. Hunt and the Rev. Paul Harvey officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: the Rev. Warren E. Wright, the Rev. Riley Adams, the Rev. Dale Worley, the Rev. Larry Collins, and J.D. Collins. Honorary pallbearers will include the Adult Sunday School Class at Springfield Community Church. Mrs. Bircher will lie in state in the church one hour prior to service time.

Mrs. Ida Mae Blakeney, 83, of 1603 Lincoln Ave. died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 in a local nursing center. She was a native of Wewahitchka, Fla., and a resident of Panama City for many years. She was a born again Christian of the Holiness faith. She was a retired Chef. She is survived by her two daughters, Sharron Loritta Blakeney Fagans and Sarah Alfreida Blakeney both of Panama City, two sisters, Elizabeth Tilley of Baincauf, Maine, and Clara Fisher of Wewahitchka; two brothers, C.L. Hunter of Cincinnatti, Ohio, and Eddie B. Hunter (Rilla) of Wewahitchka; four sisters-in-law: Lillie Jean Marshall (Roy) and Idella Cannon Both of Chicago, Ill., Virginia Hunter of Buras, La., and Eva Mae Blakeney of Havana; brother-in-law, Carbert Lee Blakeney of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren: Stacy (Ivy), Rondarious, Mandey, Mikea and Navon; three great-grandchildren: Shiera, N. Ayundria and Stacy Jr., all of Panama City; three very special friends: Ella Mae Wilson, Lorraine Strickland and Vera Hollinger all of Panama City; two special nephews, Henry C.Hunter and Samuel Hunter; two special nieces, Irma Wesley (Sylvester) and Rosetta Bankhead; two god-children, Linda Jones (James) and Brend Hollis (Earl), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Nell Harmon, age 71, of 906 Brandeis Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at her home. She was a native of Panama City since 1967, but she had resided in Las Vegas, Nev., for the past 13 years, moving back here in November 2000. Mrs. Harmon is survived by two daughters, Lynne Andler and her husband Jeff of Charlotte, N.C., and Mary Lou Bradford and her husband Rocky of Panama City; a sister, Martha Fowler of Tyler, Texas; four grandchildren: Mike Owens of Stevenson, Ala., Chris Owens of Panama City, and Jeremy Andler and Lyndsey Andler, both of Charlotte, N.C.; and one great-granddaughter, T'ea Owens of Stevenson, Ala. Quintus "Q" Solomon Heidelberg Jr., age 85, of Panama City, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001. He was born in Richton, Miss., and had been living in Bay County for the past 52 years. He was a physicist with the Naval Mine Defense Laboratory in Panama City. He is survived by his wife, Helen Phillips Heidelberg of Panama City; two daughters, Lynn Frances Heidelberg of San Francisco, Calif., and Helen Beth Heidelberg and her husband Roger Friedman of Decatur, Ga.; one grandson, Phillip Henry Friedman; one sister, Margaret Landry of Mandeville, La.; special friend and caretaker, Linda Coker of Panama City. Memorialization will be by cremation. Family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Heidelberg's residence, 3703 West 16th St., Panama City.
