Mrs. Rosa G. "Rose" Vecker, 84, of Burke, Va., died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, in a Virginia Health Care Facility. Born in Mexico, she lived in Panama City from 1974 to 1988 coming from Monterey, Calif. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Her husband of 48 years, Paul Williams Vecker, precedes her in death. Mrs. Vecker is survived by one son, Paul J. Vecker of Panama City Beach; two daughters, Nellie Borda of Burke, Va., and Martha McKenzie and husband Dr. Donald McKenzie of Thomasville, Ga.; grandchildren, Guillermo and Suzanne Borda, both of Burke, Va., Jean-Paul Borda and wife Angelica of San Jose, Calif., Lanette North and husband Steven of Denver, Colo., Jacqueline of Panama City, Charleton Scott of the U.S. Navy; great-grandchildren, Keaton and Morgan North both of Denver, Colo., and Julian Paul Borda of San Jose, Calif. A funeral mass will be conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church with Father Marty Bratek officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. A rosary will be said at 9:30 a.m. at the church prior the the funeral mass. Mrs. Shirley Kinkead Bolling, age 64, of 222 W. Lakeshore Drive, Panama City Beach, was called home to the Lord on Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, after a long illness. A native of Bristol, Tenn., Shirley graduated from Blountville High School in 1954. She began her long and fulfilling airline career with Piedmont Airlines in 1964, Southern Airlines in 1969 and retired from Northwest Airlines in 1993. Shirley lived in the Atlanta area from 1969 to 1993 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. In 1994, Shirley became a resident of Panama City Beach and attended First Baptist Church of Sunnyside. Shirley was an accomplished poet, artist, real estate agent, friend, mother, grandmother and wife. She is survived by her husband, Cecil Edward Bolling of Panama City Beach; her mother, Hattie Belle Kinkead of Bristol, Tenn.; brothers: Garland Kinkead of Bluff City, Tenn., David Kinkead of Bristol, Tenn., Bobby Lynn Kinkead of Paris, Tenn.; a sister, Lorraine Cross of Appalachia, Va.; daughter and son in law, Sherry and Clyde Harrison III of McDonough, Ga.; son and daughter in law: Robert and Marta Karin Bolling of Tampa, Fla.; daughter and son in law, Lauren and David Malphurs of Dothan, Ala.; and grandchildren, Melissa, Kirstin, David, Clyde, Robert, Daniel, Jessica, Rebecca and Cayd. She was preceded in death by her father, Beverly Hasten Kinkead; and a brother, Wayne Kinkead. Wilbert Dare Darnell, born Jan. 12, 1934, in Lawrenceberg, Ky., died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at the University of South Alabama Hospital from injuries sustained from an accidental fire on Jan. 12. Mr. Darnell served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army. He resided in Hollywood, Fla., for 32 years upon retiring with the U.S. Postal Service in 1991. He moved to Fountain, Fla., on his property that he loved. He was loved by many and will be sadly missed. He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Anita Miller Darnell; three sons, Steven (Laura) Darnell, Shawn (fiance, Dawne Fryer) Darnell, and Shane Darnell; one daughter, Sherri (Michael) Marino; he was Papa to Michael Jr., Kara, Nicole, Kyle, Travis, Jessica, Jason, Stephanie, Shane and Sean; brothers, Robert (Ruby) Darnell, David (Virginia) Darnell, Leon Darnell and Roy Darnell; sisters, Mary (Clay) Becknell, Geneva Powell, Grace (Gary) Arnold and Betty Murray; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Kathryn (Kathy) Margerum, age 59, of Covington, La., formerly an RN at Bay Medical Center, died Jan. 22, 2001. She is survived by her husband Bob; their eight children, 26 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren; four sisters and a brother. The wake will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m., at C.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington. The funeral will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 26, at Mt. Mr. Gilbert Samuel "Sam" Spratt, age 57, of 12508 Scott Road, Fountain, Fla., died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at his home. He had been a resident of the area for 10 years, coming here from Greenwood, Ind., and was Baptist by faith. Mr. Spratt is survived by his wife, Teresa L. Edelle Tiller Brock, age 84, of Naples, Fla., passed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, in Naples, Fla. She had resided in Naples for the last seven years, coming from Vernon. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Vernon Baptist Church, Vernon, Fla. She was a retired elementary school teacher from Vernon Elementary in Vernon and also worked 42 years with the Postal Service.
