Mr. Charles Leo Taggart, 65, of 1324 Gray Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area for 13 years, coming here from Moline, Ill. Mr. Taggart was Protestant by faith and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. He retired from civil service after 20 years. Mr. Taggart is survived by his son Michael Allmon, active duty USAF; three daughters, Angela Green of Randlett, Okla., Stephanie Tenbrink of Vernon, Texas, and Michele Allmon of Panama City; a sister Marty Casteel of Panama City Beach, Fla.; a brother Avron Taggart of Panama City; his mother, Pauline Gibson of Panama City; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Key officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Dec. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice, PO Box 1530, Lynn Haven, FL 32444.

Ruth Cox Wood, 101, a Panama City resident since 1940, was associated with fine ladies ready to wear at Velma's, Smith's Ladies Shop, Lillian Kilpatrick's, Junior Shop, and closed her career at The Adorable. She is predeceased by her husband, Angus C. Wood; a son, Raphael A. Wood; a granddaughter, Rebecca Wood; sisters, Jessie Roberts and Marie Phillips; and a brother, Ralph Cox. She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Alldredge and husband Que of Panama City; granddaughters Pam Hallman of Panama City; Suzanne Wood of Houston, Texas; grandsons, Andy Wood of Georgia and Gus Wood of Houston, Texas; nieces, Sara Jane Sherer of Greenville, S.C., and Margaret Connell and husband Brig. Gen. (Ret.) George W. Connell of San Antonio, Texas; nephews, Elwin Phillips Jr. and wife Stacia of Thompsonville, Conn., and Ralph Cox Jr. M.D. and wife of Greenville, S.C. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Gene Simonds officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Alvester Blakeney, 81, of 1603 Lincoln Ave., died Dec. 4, 2000, in a local nursing home. Funeral services for Mr. Blakeney will be held Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at 1 p.m. in the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerome Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 228 S. LESTER G. COLVIN
Funeral service for Lester G. Colvin, 84, will be at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro, La., today at 2 p.m., with Elder Jesse Stripland officiating. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Zion Rest Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Colvin passed away Monday, Dec. 11, at Willis-Knighton Hospital after a short illness. He was a commercial printer by trade. Survivors include wife Irma B. Colvin of Shreveport; son, Keith G. Colvin and wife Alice of Lynn Haven; daughter, Vickie Warner of Shreveport; brother, T. L. Colvin and wife Alyce of Jonesboro; sister, Leta Bryan and husband Jimmy of Wiggins, Miss.; two grandsons, Philip Colvin and wife Andrea of Panama City, and Scott Colvin of Lynn Haven; and three great-grandchildren, Chase Sapp, Caian Sapp and Chandler Colvin, all of Panama City. Active pallbearers will be Philip Colvin, Alan Lyles, Steven Cloud, Bill Rockett, Tre Colvin and Daniel Wyatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Benson Smith, James A. Rasberry, Jimmie Rogers and Bruce Thomas.

Funeral services for Major Robert E. Elliott, U.S. Army Ret., 72, of Panama City, who died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, in his home, will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Tyman officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery with full military honors and Masonic rites conducted at the graveside. The Parker Masonic Lodge No. 142 will be open one hour prior to the service on Thursday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Mr. Kazimer Grzejka, 42, of 110-2 S. 40th St., Mexico Beach, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area for four years, coming here from Pennsylvania. Mr. Grzejka was in partnership with Steve Matincheck at Budget Homes of Panama City. He is survived by a son, Kristoffer Grzejka of Greenville, Pa.; a daughter, Jamie Lynn Grzejka of Greenville, Penn.; two sisters, Sharyn Banjak and Gail Muir, both of Panama City; an aunt, Betty Back of Sharon, Pa.; three nieces, Deanna Banjak of Panama City, Amanda Morris of Cheraw, S.C., and Jennifer Muir of Panama City; two great-nieces, Kylie Banjak and Ariana Perry, both of Panama City; and a great-nephew, Baily Furey of Panama City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Doss officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories. Ms. Karen Kim Morris, 41, of 607 W. 11th St., Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1972, coming here from Columbus, Ga. Mrs. Morris was Baptist by faith. She was an outgoing person who loved to travel and be outdoors. Ms. Morris is survived by her mother, Ruby Grace Redd of Panama City; a brother, George Stephen Redd of LaFayette, La.; a daughter, Ashley Jean Morris of Lynn Haven; a mother-in-law, Alma Jean Morris of Lynn Haven; a niece, Megan Redd of LaFayette, La.; a nephew, Jedidiah Redd of Panama City; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Craig Howell Morris. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mrs. Mae Bell Skinner, 92, of 408 Gray Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at a local nursing facility. She had been a resident of the area for 64 years, coming here from Holmes County. Mrs. Skinner is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Railey and her husband S.E. "Buck" Railey of Panama City; two sisters, Nellie Arrant of Panama City and Ruby B. Gainey of Springfield; two grandchildren, Alvey Stanley and his wife Pamela of Panama City and Christine Burke and her husband Daniel, of Crestview; four great-grandchildren; Alvey Jason Stanley and Joshua Adam Stanley, both of Panama City, and Melanie Suzanne Burke and Matthew Scott Burke, both of Crestview; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Chapel with Mr. Bill Gainey officiating. Interment will follow at Millville Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Matthew S. Burke, Doyle Benton, Lloyd Benton, John Gainey, Kenneth Arrant and Leonard Arrant.

WILLIAM E. WALKER
William E. Walker, 74, of Fairview, Pa., and Panama City, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, in Erie, Pa. He was born in Fairview on April 18, 1926. He is survived by his wife, Freda A. Cochran Walker; a son, Gerald R. Walker and his wife Gail of Painesville, Ohio; a daughter, Linda L. Cress and husband Ronald of Sterling, Va.; four grandchildren, William F. and Christopher T. Astle and Eric Emerson Walker and Kate Elizabeth Walker; two step-grandchildren, Douglas M. and Sarah C. Wetzel; two brothers, Jim Walker and wife Marge of Lyndhurst, Ohio and Jack Walker and wife Sally of Beaufort, S.C.; and a sister, Eleanor Miller of Fairview and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday in Fairview. Memorials may be made to the Fairview United Methodist Church, 4601 Avonia Road, Fairview, PA 16415.

J.C. WILLIAMS SR.
Mr. J.C. Williams Sr., 43, of 706 East 16th St. died Wednesday, Dec. 6, at his home. He was a native of Pelham, Ga., but had been a longtime resident of Panama City. He accepted Christ into his life in November and joined the Maranatha S.D.A. Church and was baptized Nov. 25, 2000. Skilled as a culinary chef, he was employed at Mike's Diner in Panama City Beach. He was loved and cherished by his co-workers and management staff. Although Mike was his manager, he was also a father to him. J.C. was born to the late Edward and Donna Williams on Sept. 14, 1957. He leaves to mourn three children, Jay Cee Williams Jr., Craig Williams and Stacy Cadagan (Jeff) of New York; two stepchildren, Michael Belcher (Jennifer) of Texas and Chenicka Brown of Panama City. He also leaves to cherish his memory five sisters, Delois White (Johnnie Sr.), Ernestine Thurman, Georgia Mae Paul, Betty Jean Edwards and Rethen Holloway (John); four brothers, Eddie Lee Satfford of Georgia, Robert Lee Edwards (Sabrina), Clarence Edwards and Eddie Lee Williams of Panama City; six grandchildren, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend, Diante White and many other close relatives and friends. One sister, Dorothy Edwards, preceded him in death. Funeral service for Mr. Williams will be Thursday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. in the Maranatha Seventh Day Adventist of 1217 East 14th Court with Pastor Donell Morgan Sr. officiating. Internment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin this afternoon at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church, 1123 Martin Luther King Boulevard.
