Mrs. Neta Sue Jeremiah, 87, of Myakka City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at her daughter's home in Myakka City. Sue was born in Fountain, Fla., on Feb. 26, 1913, and lived in Panama City for most of her life. She had been living with her daughter Marie since 1995 and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Panama City. She was also a member of Panama City Garden Club. Sue was a very devoted wife, mother and friend and we will truly miss her. Memories of her will always be with us and she will hold a special place in our hearts until we are with her again. She is survived by one son, John P. Jeremiah of Pensacola; two daughters, Nora Batts of Orlando and Marie Nelson of Myakka City; one sister, Betty Westcott-Plummer of St. Petersburg; five grandchildren, Michelle and Kevin Jeremiah, Brent Sapp, Keith and Ryan Nelson. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ross Hilton officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Luria Milton "Jiggs" Johnson, 85, of Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 12, 2000, in Plant City, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Panama City and was a retired homebuilder. He also worked in real estate. He was Protestant by faith and was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Doris Stuckey Johnson of Panama City; two daughters, Joanna Louise Johnson of Titusville, Fla., Margaret Johnson Waldroff and husband Mark of Plant City, Fla.; one sister, Dorothy Morgan of Youngstown; four grandchildren: William Waldroff, Lauren Waldroff, Philip Waldroff and Megan Waldroff all of Plant City. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Sharon L. Snyder, age 62, of 111 S. Charlene Dr., Callaway, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at her home. She had been a resident of the area since 1972, coming here from Michigan. Mrs. Snyder was the first woman commissioner and mayor of the City of Callaway. She served two terms as commissioner in the 1970's. A 1976 News Herald article described her using a phrase borrowed from a conquering Roman Emperor, "Vini, Vidi, Vici", which means she came, she saw, she conquered. She is survived by her husband, John E. Snyder of Callaway; two daughters, Cheryl Wilson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Pamela Wages of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, Richard Snyder of Seattle, Wash., and Erin Snyder of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren: Bennie, Lisa, Eric, Robert, Michelle, and Sarah Lynn; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 15, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Spence officiating.

Mr. Kimble Charles Baker, 46, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died in Jackson County, Fla., Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000. Mr. Baker moved to Panama City in 1996 from Houston, Texas. He was a manager for a travel agency. Mr. Baker loved camping, beaches, gardening, cats, dogs, and his many friends. Survivors include his father, George E. Baker of Brandon, Fla.; one sister, Susan Baker of Brandon; one brother, Doug Baker and wife Carolyn of Houston; one aunt, Lorraine Simms of Scroggins, Texas; two nieces; two nephews; a special friend, Dewayne Richardson of Panama City Beach. Mr. Elbert Baxley, 75, of Port St. Joe, Fla., died in Gulf Pines Hospital Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000. Mr. Baxley retired from St. Joe Telephone Company after 32 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Port St. Joe. He devoted his life to caring for his family and his work. Mr. Baxley was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph C. and Winnie B. Baxley; two brothers, W.C. and Wayne Baxley; and one sister, Ruby B. McGee. Survivors include his three children: Sandra Baxley Chafin and husband William Jr. of Port St. Joe, Russell Elbert Baxley and wife Julie of Ringgold, Ga., Terry Franklin Baxley and wife DeAnna of Cleveland, Ohio; the mother of his children, Mabel Allen of Springfield; five brothers: W.H.
