GEORGE EMIL MUDTER
George Emile Mudter, age 80, of Manchester, Ga. and Bay Point, Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at The Medical Center in Columbus, Ga. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Aug. 25, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Manchester. Entombment followed. Mr. Mudter was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Spokane County, Wash., a son of Emil Mudter and Ruby Rose Mudter. He received an A.A. degree from Boise State Junior College and a B.S. Degree from the University of Georgia, and graduated with honors from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy. He was a member of the Georgia Pharmaceutical Association, the Bay Point Golf and Country Club in Panama City and was past President of Manchester Kiwanis Club. Mr. Mudter retired as a Pharmacist and was former owner of City Drug Company in Manchester. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a captain. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Frances Peters Mudter of Manchester; a daughter, Patricia M. Hobbs of Pine Mountain, Ga.; a son, George E. Mudter Jr., of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren: Sarah Anne Hobbs, Mary Hobbs Gammell, Martha Jeanette Mudter, Anna Lucile Mudter, Abigail Grace Mudter and George Clayton Mudter. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Warm Springs, Ga.

Funeral services for Jeanette S. Palmer, 81, who went to be with the Lord on Aug. 30, 2000, will be held today at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Gallagher officiating. Mr. Robert Christopher Raffield, age 24, of 1136 S. Comet Ave., Callaway, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000 at his home. He has been a lifetime resident of the area and was a commercial fisherman. Mr. Raffield is survived by his parents, Robert A. and Linda Davis Raffield of Callaway, Fla.; a sister, Shelley Walding and her husband Chris of Panama City; brother, Phillip N. Henry C. "Sonny" Rogers, 79, formerly of Panama City, died Aug. 28, 2000, in Pine Bluff, Ark. He was a retired bleach plant operator for International Paper Company, working there for 41 years. He was a member of Forrest Park Assembly of God Church, Jacob Brump Lodge No.160, Union Chapter No. 40 Eastern Star, past patron of Culpepper Chapter No. 431 Eastern Star, an honorary member of Sahara Nomads, member of White Shrine of Jerusalem, Christina Court No. 3 order of the Amaranth. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice Merchant Rogers; four brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Roberts Rogers of Pine Bluff; daughters, Carolyn Montgomery of Nashville, Ga., Barbara Wilson of Mountain Pine, Ark.; brother, Dewey Lee Rogers of Quincy, Fla.; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Preston Wardrick Embry, born Dec. 16, 1953, expired on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Bay Medical Center after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m. in St. Dominic's Catholic Church with Father Peter Zalewski officiating. Mrs. Joan Wood-Ogletree, age 64, of Panama City, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, in her home at 1407 Ridgewood Ave. She was born in Whitley Co., Ky. Mr. Drew Steven "Capt. Steve" Stewart, Jr., age 47, of Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away at noon Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Gulf Coast Medical Center, Panama City. His death was the result of eleven years of complications after surgery for a brain tumor in January of 1989. Steve attended Klondike Elementary School in West Lafayette, Ind., and was a graduate of Ellettsville High School in Elletsville, Ind. Steve served three and one-half years in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Tyndall AFB. He had the pleasure of working for his good friends, the Putnams of Half Hitch Tackle, and then went to work for L & L Oil Co. Most recently, he owned and operated his deep-sea charter fishing boat, the Sea Horse, docked at Davis-Anderson Pier in Panama City Beach. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Stewart of Lynn Haven; son, Brian Stewart of Lynn Haven; father and step-mother, Dr. and Mrs. Drew S. Stewart of Bloomington, Ind.; mother, Janis L. Matouk of Lafayette, Ind.; sisters, Sheri L. Potasnik and her husband Todd of Fishers, Ind., and Muna M. Destefano and her husband David of West Lafayette, Ind.; an uncle, Don Simmons of Orleans, Ind.; mother and father-in-law, John and Pat Rosenberg of Orlando, Fla.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and a good friend, Evelyn Quinn. Mrs. Barbara J. Daffron, 70, of 1309 S. Berthe Ave., in Panama City, died Friday evening, Sept. 1, 2000, in Bay Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, she moved here one year ago after living in Dallas, Texas, for 15 years. While in Panama City she resided with her daughter Susan who cared for her during her illness. She is Catholic by faith. Her husband, Charles E. Daffron, preceded her in death. Mrs. Daffron is survived by two daughters, Marcella J. Farias of Honolulu, Hawaii, Susan A. Brewster and husband Donald E. of Panama City; one son, Howard Farias Jr. and wife Nora of Honolulu, Hawaii; two brothers, Clarence Martin and wife Fran of Panama City, Herbert Martin and wife Midge of Nanakuli, Hawaii; one sister, Velma Angely and husband Clarence of Cedar Hill, Texas; five grandchildren, Shannon K. Chai and wife Kimberly, Brandan K. Chai, Jayme Coe, Alex Farias and Kehau Farias; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
