CHARLES A. 'CHUCK' LAHSER
Charles A. "Chuck" Lahser, 68, of Panama City Beach, died Wednesday evening, August 23, 2000, at his home. He was a native of Detroit, Mich., but has been residing in Panama City Beach for the past 14 years. Mr. Lahser was a retired Quality Control Supervisor for the Michigan Seamless Tubing Company, a member of the United Methodist Church in Michigan, and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Lahser is survived by his wife, Jenny Lahser of Panama City Beach; two sons, Steve Lahser of Apple Valley, Calif., and Dave Lahser of Panama City Beach; daughter, Linda Newman of Sarasota; sister, Weslene Schmidt of South Lyon, Mich.; and four grandchildren. Mr. Lahsers's family will be holding private memorial services at a later date.

SHIRLEY CORRINNA FULTZ
Mrs. Shirley Corrinna Fultz, 66, of Panama City, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area for 26 years, coming here from Springfield, Ohio. Mrs. Fultz worked most of her life. She most recently worked for Morrison's Cafeteria, and had worked for the Federal Bake Shop in the Panama City Mall and was the Deli Manager of Food World. Mrs. Fultz was a talented cake decorator and baker. She also enjoyed bingo. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Hayden G. Ely. Mrs. Fultz is survived by her husband of 48 years, Lester Fultz of Panama City; daughters: LeAnn Ely and her husband Howard of Vancleave, Miss., Kay Miller and special friend Rodney Glick of Callaway, Susie Hume and her husband Randy of Tacoma, Wash., and Valerie Schutt and her husband Gary of Hartselle, Ala.; sons: Lester Fultz Jr. and his wife Ginger of Mobile, Ala., Terry Fultz and his wife Donna of Granite City, Ill., Larry Fultz and his wife Pam and Gary Fultz, all of Panama City; sisters: Jettie, Barbara, Jackie, Janet, Patty, and Sarah; brother, Ricky; sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Aug. 25, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Aug. 25, from 2 until 3 p.m., an hour prior to service time.

GERTIE CHAVERS JAMES
Gertie Chavers James, 91, of 1009 Frankford Avenue, died Wednesday, August 23, 2000. She was a homemaker, moving from Milton in 1923. Since 1923 she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City and was a 1927 graduate of Bay High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, D.B. She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Chavers Sowell of Panama City; sister-in-law, Margaret Riley of Pittsburg, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Reverends Craig Conner and Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are Bob Forbus, Tom Torgersen, Coy Gay, Doyle Kirkland, Ted Haney and Henry Kracke. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of First Baptist Church. Those desiring may make a contribution to the Memorial Fund of First Baptist Church.

BETTY ELIZABETH JORDAN
Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Jordan, 71, of 4381 Kent Drive in Marianna, died Monday morning, August 21, 2000, at her residence. She was a native of Philadelphia, Pa., but had been living in Jackson County since 1992. She was a homemaker and played the piano at the Senior Center in Marianna for several years. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by her devoted and loving companion, Mr. Ed Neal Holden of Marianna; four sons: Mr. John Jordan, Mr. Torren Jordan and wife Jerilyn, all of Asbury Park, N.J., Mr. Louis L. Jordan and wife Charlene, of Tinton Falls, N.J., and Mr. Clemmons O'Neal and wife Mona of Clayton, N.J.; three daughters: Mrs. Elizabeth Ross and husband Tommy of Panama City, Mrs. Zakkiyyah Akbar and husband Shalaby of Ashbury Park, and Mrs. Robin Kilby of San Diego, Calif.; five sisters: Mrs. Mae Jones, Mrs. Gladys Gardener, Mrs. Hazel Young, and Mrs. Ester Stewart all of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Henrietta Sullivan of Jonesboro, Ga.; brother, Mr. Edward Corley Sr. of Philadelphia; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today, August 25, at 11 a.m. at the Peoples Funeral Home Chapel with Bishops Randy E. Williams, Arthur A. Cutler Sr. and Minister Earnest Robinson officiating and Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna directing. The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until funeral time at 11 a.m. Burial will follow on the Whitesville Cemetery in Eatontown, N.J., on Tuesday, August 29 under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home in Neptune, N.J.

ROBERT MICHAEL GREENE
Robert Michael Greene, 43, died Aug. 24, 2000, in Panama City Beach. Michael was born October 24, 1956, in McMinnville, Tenn., the son of Robert E. and Jeannie Fitts Greene. He was a resident of Mary Esther for the past eight and a half years after moving from Daytona Beach. He was a 1974 graduate of Walton High School, and was a well-known radio personality. He was also noted for writing a special song titled God's Special Choir and for being a supporter of children's charities and projects for law enforcement and schools. He listed his own hobby as "spreading happiness to my fellow man." He was a Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church in DeFuniak Springs and attended the Mary Esther Methodist Church. He is survived by his father and mother, Robert E. and Jeannie Greene of DeFuniak Springs; his wife of 21 years, Lucy C. Greene of Mary Esther; two sons, Jesse M. and Dylan M. Greene, both of Mary Esther; one daughter, Taylor M. Greene of Mary Esther; and one brother, David Greene and his wife Tina of Melbourne. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at Clary-Godwin Funeral Home in DeFuniak Springs. An account has been established at People's First Bank and anyone wishing to do so may make donations to the "Robert Michael Greene Memorial Account." NORMA CORE HUMPHREY
Mrs. Norma Core Humphrey, loving mother and friend, 68, of Cataula, Ga., died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, in Columbus, Ga. Mrs. Humphrey was a longtime resident of Wewahitchka and a member of the First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe. She is survived by her two sons, Thomas Allen Humphrey of Cataula and Willie Byron Humphrey and wife Erin of Palm Harbour; daughter, Sheila H. Pickett and husband Ricky of Cataula; eight grandchildren: T.A. Humphrey II, Joseph Humphrey, Delainya Harris, Kenneth Pickett, Justin Humphrey, Melissa Pickett, Shawn Brining, and Patrick Humphrey; and three great-grandchildren: T.A. Humphrey III, Callie Harris, and Cody Harris. Funeral services for Mrs. Humphrey will be conducted today at 10 a.m. EDT with the Rev. Brent Vickery officiating. Ms. Dora E. Martin, of Crestview, entered into eternal rest the afternoon of Aug. 24, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman G. "Pete" Martin. She is survived by her daughters, Lorene Skorup of Lansdale, Penn., and Betty McCoy of Auburndale; sons: Norman M. Martin of Howard Creek, Gilbert L. Martin of Goose Creek, S.C., David Martin of Crestview, and Charles W. Martin of Chattahoochee; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 27, at 4 p.m. EDT at Long Ave. Baptist Church in Port St. Joe with the Rev. Marty McCoy officiating and the Rev. John Atkins assisting. Mrs. Nettie Mae Roberts, 75, of 2418 Kirkwell Ave., Lynn Haven, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at a local hospital. Mrs. Roberts had been a lifetime resident of Bay County, and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Roberts is survived by four sons: James L. Roberts and wife Darlene of Sharon, S.C., Byrd C. Roberts of Oviedo, Jackie R. Roberts of Lynn Haven, and John Roberts of Panama City; two daughters, Annette Roberts of Panama City and Alice Johnson and husband Joe of Lynn Haven; sister, Robbie Forehand of Panama City; brother, James C. Posey and wife Betty of Bayou George; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by a son, Virgil Lee Roberts. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Key officiating. Mary Elizabeth Shaffer, 91, of Woodsboro, M.D., died Aug. 23, 2000, in Frederick, Md. Private interment was held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, Md. ANNIE MAE WHITE
The late sister Annie Mae White was born January 14, 1914, in Crenshaw County, Ala. She was first born of nine children to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lillie and William Boyd. She received Christ at an early age and joined the Valley Baptist Church. She moved to Houston, Texas, and married Hubert White. She joined the Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Therie Washington as pastor, where she was very active for many years. She was a resident of Houston for over 50 years. In 1994 she moved to Florida where she remained until she departed this life on Aug. 22, 2000. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Novella Johnson, Ida Mae Franklin of Panama City; two brothers, Felix Boyd and wife Helen of Panama City, and Willie Frank and wife Maeola "Peggy" of Newark, N.J.; a goddaughter, Charlotte Taylor of Houston; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held today, Aug. 26, at 2 p.m. at the Hillside Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Bethea officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends after the service at the Gospel Temple FreeWill Baptist Church at 1707 N. Palo Alto Ave. in Panama City.

Retired SSGT. James Arnold Best, 56, of Panama City, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at his residence. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1993 having moved here from Detroit, Mich. He was a retired paralegal after 20 years service in the United States Air Force and a veteran of the Vietname War. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Lee Best and is survived by his mother, Leota Best of Detroit, Mich.; two sons, Paul Best and wife June, and Jason Best and wife Amanda, all of Panama City; one brother, Frank Best of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, LeeAnn Lewis of Sebring, Sue Fude of Detroit, Mich., and Lynn Matthews of Round Rocks, Texas; five grandchildren: Aaron, Taylor, David, Allison and Tessa, all of Panama City; as well as six nieces and nephews. Graveside memorial services for Mr. Best will be conducted on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at 11:45 a.m. at the Fort Barrancus National Cemetery in Pensacola with the accordance of full military honors.
