JACK M. BLOUNT
Mr. Jack M. Blount, 97, of Wewahitchka, passed away on the night of Saturday, August 12, 2000, in Blountstown. Born in Washington County, he was retired from International Paper Co. and had been a resident of Wewahitchka for the past 30 years. He was a member and a Deacon of the Westside Baptist Church of Wewahitchka. Survivors include his grandchildren: Mike Blount of Dalton, Ga., and Kelly Miller and Bradley Blount, both of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. EDT (10 a.m. CDT,) Wednesday, at the graveside in Jehu Cemetery conducted by the Rev. L.E. Woods. Internment will follow. He will lie in state at the Comforter Funeral Home Wewahitchka Branch Chapel from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. EDT on Wednesday.

MARY R. HOLLAND
Mrs. Mary R. Holland, 86, of White City, Fla., passed away Sunday, August 13, 2000, in Port St. Joe. A native of North Carolina, she had been a resident here since 1972 and attended White City Baptist Church where she was a member of Maggie Bell Sunday School Class. She also had been active with the Senior Citizens Association for more than 20 years. Survivors include a son, Wayne Holland; daughter, Wanda Davis; grandchildren: Elizabeth Terry and husband Jack, Sam Brown and wife Myong, and David Brown and wife Tina; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two brothers, Glenn Bell and Rufus Bell. The funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. EDT on Tuesday at the White City Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Nick Davis. Internment will follow in the family plot in Holy Hill Cemetery. She will lie in state at the church for two hours prior to the funeral. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Wanda Davis, at 270 Pridgeon Road in White City.

PORTER R. MERRILL
Mr. Porter R. Merrill of 3038 Carter Circle in Chipley, died Thursday, August 10, 2000, at his residence. Born in Lynn, Mass., he moved here from Miami in 1983. He was a reservations manager for Pan Am Airlines and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Sunny Hills where he was clerk of sessions, served as an elder and was a member of the choir. Mr. Merrill was the son of Volentine R. and Doris Merrill. He is survived by his wife, Emma Merrill; stepmother, Nancy Cooper Merrill; three sons: Bruce Merrill, Douglas Merrill and James Merrill; stepson, George Momberger; stepdaughter, Kathy Valdez; stepbrother, Allen Cooper; sister, Beverly Merrill; stepsister, Ann Drinkwater; cousin, Beatrice Onessimo; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, at 1 p.m. in the Sunny Hills Community Church, 3768 Country Club Boulevard, Sunny Hills, Fla., with the Rev. Tom Douglas officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Emerald Coast Hospice of Bay County.

GWENDOLYN DAVIS ANDERSON
Gwendolyn Davis Anderson, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, of congestive heart failure. She is survived by her husband, Col. James E. Anderson (Ret.); two daughters, Gwendolyn Anderson Ingraham of Atlanta, Kathryn Anderson Hall of Tallahassee; three grandchildren, Jacob Anderson Ingraham of Nashville, Tenn., Kathryn Kelley Monkevich of Melbourne, Fla., Christopher Allen Ingraham of Atlanta; and a great-grandson, Riley Anderson Ingraham. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Private graveside services will be held Wednesday in Fort Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family request that those desiring to may make a contribution to the charity of their choice.

RICHARD LAWERENCE CORLEY
Richard Lawerence Corley, age 48,of Miami,Fla. passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, in Miami's Baptist Hospital after a battle with cancer. A loving father, talented agronomist and geologist, he is survived by his three children, Rebecca, Blake and Seth Corley of Panama City Beach, Fla. A family memorial service will be held in the mountains of Utah, one of the places Richard liked best.

ROBERT S. 'BOB' HOOKER
Mr. Robert S. "Bob" Hooker, age 65, of 15140 Lucy Lane, Southport, Fla., died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at his home. He had been a resident of the area since 1977, coming here from Miami, Fla. Mr. Hooker was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from AT&T after more than 25 years. Mr. Hooker enjoyed playing the guitar, camping and watching sports on TV, especially NASCAR. Mr. Hooker is survived by his daughter, Kathy Willson-White and her husband Nick of Scotland; sons, Jimmy Hooker of Orlando, George Lamon and Richard Lamon, both from Gainesville, and Billy Hooker of Orlando; a sister, Betty Layman and her husband Steve of Memphis, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Ashley Lamon, Michael Hooker, Jimmy Hooker, Paul Willson-White and Stephanie Willson-White.

FRANCES ANNE JONES
Frances Anne Jones, of 4430 Collegiate Lane, Panama City, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in her home. Mrs. Jones was a native of Oklahoma City, Okla., and had resided in Panama City for the past 17 years. She was a retired bookkeeper for many years with the Livestock Commission Company in Oklahoma. Frances will be remembered for her love and devotion to family and friends and especially the children. Her mother, Mildred Sell and brother, Richard Sell preceded Mrs. Jones in death. Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Shelly Thompson of Lynn Haven, Rick and Lynn Hardin of Lynn Haven, Daivd and Katherine Hardin of Sunnyside; a father, Joseph "Scotty" Sell of Sunnyside; a sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Nick Ranone of Panama City; five grandchildren, Scotty Thompson, Isabella Hardin, Elizabeth Granger, Summer Hardin, Billy Becker; nieces and nephews, Greg and Robin Newberry of Panama City, Debbie and Mike Watson of Peachtree City, Ga., Troy and Tony Hoskins of Peachtree City, Tara and Clint Stamps of Atlanta, Debbie Ranone of Panama City, Richard and Wendy Ranone of Denver, Colo.; grand nieces and nephews, Matt and Sarah Watson, Trevor and Tierney Newberry, Stevie Ray, Jordan, Charlie and Julian Hoskins, Emily, Madeline and Lillian Stamps, Andrew, Robbie and T.J. Ranone. The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made in memory of Mrs. Jones, to the American Cancer Society.

MARIANNE BISHOP SMITH
Mrs. Marianne Bishop Smith, 55, of 315 Sanders Lane, Springfield, Fla., died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Panama City and was a homemaker. She was also Baptist by faith. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Earl Gross of Springfield; special friends, Kathleen Coley and Pat Testut and numerous cousins. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Mr. Steve Southerland II officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening.

CONSTANCE WEBB
Mrs. Constance Webb, age 75, of Southport, Fla., went to be with the Lord Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000. She was born in Troy, Ala., and was a resident of Southport. Mrs. Webb was a nurse LVN since 1955 and a member of Church of Christ in Lynn Haven. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Vernon Webb of Southport; a son, Francis Webb and his wife Carolyn of Southport; two sisters, Patricia Goodwin and her husband Gerald of Clarksville, Ga., and Joyce Shiver and her husband Cortez of White City, Fla.; two brothers, Eugene Carter and his wife Sandra of Dothan, Ala., and Charlie Carter and his wife Sammie of Ariton, Ala.; a granddaughter, Stori Ra White and her husband Matthew of Navarre, Fla.; a grandson, Charles Webb and his wife Karin of Maryland; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Webb was preceded in death by her son, Carl Webb. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Church of Christ in Lynn Haven with Mr. Louis Consoli III, Mr. Gerald McCalister and Mr. Phillip Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Lynn Haven Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Oliver Matthews, David Oyler, Manuel Ramirez, John Powell, Jerry Crawford and Lindwell Bradley. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Aug. 15, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. A special thank you is extended to the caregivers for Mrs. Webb from Community Health Center. A meal will be provided after the services in the church fellowship hall.

EUGENE HENRY 'PA' WOOD, SR.
Mr. Eugene Henry "Pa" Wood Sr., age 74, of Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at his daughters' home. He had been a resident of the area since 1956, coming here from Birmingham. Mr. Wood was the founder and former owner of Panama Paint and Body Shop on Jenks Avenue for 43 years and served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Westside Men's Club and Springfield Community Church. Mr. Wood, loving husband, father and grandfather is survived by his daughter, Janet M. Miller and her husband W.E. of Panama City; a son, Eugene H. Wood Jr. of Panama City; grandchildren, Kevin Boyd and his wife Maura and Joni Boyd, all of Panama City, Stephanie Lauer and her husband Steve of Biloxi, Miss., and Dustin Wood of Alabaster, Ala.; a brother, Hoyt Alvis of Decatur, Ala.; a sister, Velma Perry of Decatur, Ala.; and a sister-in-law, Ollie Jones of Trinity, Ala. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Helen Marie Wood. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. W. Hunt, the Rev. John Hall and the Rev. Burney Enzor officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Sonny Savage, Mart Yates, Guy Tunnell, Derrell Hernandez, Buzz Ahner and Freddie Pruett. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Aug. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will be staying at the home of his daughter, Janet Miller, 2018 W. 23rd Court, Panama City, Fla.
