Horace Lee Colonel was born Sept. 6, 1952, in Jacksonville, Fla., to an old fashioned Georgian mother and was loved by Laura Dawson and the Queen Moorman Purcell (Aunts). Afterwards, he landed a teaching job for the American Embassy "A.U.A." program teaching English for a foreign nation. He was the first to study under the GI Bill in Bangkok, Thailand; his interest was international business administration. With the dream of bringing his favorite food to the U.S., he settled in Panama City in 1982, as a civil service employee at Tyndall Air Force Base. Soon afterwards, he opened a Thai store and what is now the Cow Pot Restaurant. Service for his memorial will be handled and held at Battle Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, where his memory will be honored by the family and a host of relatives and friends.
