Robert D. Leitton Sr.,

Robert David Leitton Sr., 84, of Lewes, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 28, 2006, from Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Mr. Leitton was born March 1, 1922 in Linden, N.J. and moved with his parents to Connecticut in 1932.
Mr. Leitton served in the 3rd Armored Spearhead Division, Division of Artillery Command from Oct. 1943 to Nov. 1945. He was the recipient of the following honors: Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal (Silver Star), WW II Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal (German Clasp), Distinguished Unit Citation with Cluster, and the Belgium Fourregere Medal. Mr. Leitton was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He was a member of the Danbury and Brookfield Assembly of God Church in Connecticut for 38 years. He served on the board for 28 years and started the first gospel radio program, Gospel Time, in 1954 from Danbury, Conn. He also served as a Sunday school teacher, the church treasurer, youth ministry and the bus ministry. Mr. Leitton was a sales representative for H. J. Heinz & Company from 1949 to 1963 and for Vilking Wire from 1964 to 1985 when he retired.
Mr. Leitton married the late Kathleen R. Layden Leitton in March 1942.
He is survived by two children: the Rev. Robert D. Leitton Jr. and his wife Elaine of Dover, and Kathleen Kessler and her husband Dean of Quarryville, Pa.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 3, 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, with Pastors Joseph Robinson and Daniel Mariano co-officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Interment with military honors will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.

Mable White Callahan,
retired manager
Mable White Callaham, 82, of Lewes, passed away Monday, March 27, 2006, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes from complications following hip surgery.
She was born May 1, 1923 in Anderson, S.C., daughter of the late Rev. Dr. E. C. White and Mamie “Cathy” White.
Mable retired as a manager in the children’s clothing industry. She was active with Wives of the Wade Hampton Lodge, Scottish Rite Center, Hejaz Shrine Center, Thunderbird Square Dance Group, and she assisted the guides at Shriner’s Hospital in Greenville, S.C. She was a member of Seaside Church, Lewes.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Callaham, formerly of Greenville. She was also preceded in death by five siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Betsy Regnier and her husband Art; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren: the Rev. Charles R. Arnold and his wife Erika, and their children, Jennifer and Ryan all of Lewes; David Arnold and his wife Shari of Knoxville, Tenn. and their children, Amanda, Drey, Gordy, Kristi and Cari; Erin Regnier and her son Gavin of Irvine, Calif.; and Kristy Burns and her husband Bryan of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. and their children Alex and Logan. In addition, she is survived by two sisters: Tommie Jean White Morrison of Belton, S.C. and Joann White Grady of Burlington, N.C.; and two brothers: E.C. White Jr. and his wife Bobby Jean and Furman White, all of Anderson, S.C.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 1, 10 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes with Pastor Charles Arnold presiding. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Anderson, S.C.

Harry J. Brittingham
retired truck driver
Harry James Brittingham, 61, of New Castle, died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Christiana Hospital.
Mr. Brittingham was born in Wilmington Jan. 24, 1945, son of the late Clarence Robinson Brittingham and Anna Mae Cunningham Brittingham. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. A member of Teamsters Union Local #326 in New Castle, Mr. Brittingham worked as a professional truck driver for Leaseway Motor Car in Twin Oaks, Pa. He retired in June 2005 after a 25-year career.
A devout Christian, Mr. Brittingham was a member of Free Will Baptist Church and a former member of Ogletown Baptist Church. He had taught Sunday school classes at both congregations. In his leisure time, Mr. Brittingham greatly enjoyed watching NASCAR races and karaoke singing with family and friends. He was also devoted to animals and their welfare.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Patricia Faye Short Brittingham; two children, Harry James Brittingham Jr. and wife, Deborah, and Dawn Albertine Brittingham Evans and husband, Timothy, all of North East, Md; two grandsons, Nathaniel Ray Marshall and Bryan James Brittingham, both of North East; cousin, Dave Herald of New Castle; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three siblings, Lois Brittingham, Clarence Brittingham and Thelma Brittingham Corridori.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 1, at the Spicer-Mullikan Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call after 9 a.m. A committal service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 3, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery , 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

Anthony J. Pavelko,
retired from U.S. Navy, teacher
Anthony J. “Tony” Pavelko, 85, of Milton, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at home.
He was born Jan. 30, 1921 in Barnsboro, Pa., the son of the late Anthony J. and Suzanna (Semian) Pavelko. He was a graduate of Barnsboro High School and enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. While in the Coast Guard, he was enrolled in Holy Cross College in the ROTC Program where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1943. Tony also was the recipient of the Order of the Purple Knights for his 50 years of service to Holy Cross College. He then became a supply officer in the United States Navy retiring in 1962.
Following his career in the Navy, Tony resided in Havertown, Pa., with his family for 30 years and became a teacher at the Haverford Senior High School in Havertown, PA. He was a parishioner at St. Denis Catholic Church in Havertown, PA and was an active member in the Holy Name Society and the Boy Scouts of America where he received the St. George Service Award of the Boy Scouts of America. He then worked for J.C. Penny Co in King of Prussia, Pa. for 20 years before finally retiring in 1983.
He relocated to the Milton area in 1989 and became a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Milford and was an active volunteer at the H. O. Brittingham Elementary School in Milton. He was a member of the Milford Senior Center and the Cheer Center in Georgetown where he was active in the Merry Makers and the Cheerful Notes choral groups. He enjoyed traveling in Europe and also on trips sponsored by the senior centers, and the Adult Plus group in Georgetown. he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Milton American Legion Post #20, and the Milton Veterans of Foreign Wars Broadkiln Post #6984. He attended Gull House in Rehoboth Beach for the past several years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Stephen, Joseph, and Cyril Pavelko and also by his son, Anthony J. Pavelko III in 1991.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary E. Pavelko, two sons, Mark D. Pavelko of Bryn Mawr, Pa. and Carl C. Pavelko of Milton; three daughters, Judith Marie Miller of Upper Darby, Pa., Mary Jeanne Snyder of Point of Rocks, Md. and Teresa P. Grey of Wilmington; two brothers, Edward Pavelko of Rehoboth Beach and Frank Pavelko of Cherry Tree, Pa.; four sisters, Helen Burns of Orlando, Fla., Margaret Jones of Deckerville Mich., Anne Oliver of Wilmington, N.C., and Mary Drahnak of Hastings, Pa.; two granddaughters, Emma Grey and Zhanna Snyder and two grandsons, Matthew Miller and Daniel Grey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2006 in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Seabury Ave. and School Place, Milford where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be private in Holy Cross cemetery , Dover.

Carol Kirkpatrick,
retired teacher
Carol (Thompson) Kirkpatrick, 63, of Milton, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Christiana Medical Center in Wilmington.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick was born May 19, 1942 in Wilmington, daughter of the late Francis E. and Ruth Edna (Burns) Thompson.
Carol graduated from the University of Delaware in 1964. She was a French teacher at William Penn High School, New Castle, and at Seaford High School, Seaford. She taught for 28 years retiring in 1991. Carol was one of the founders and a member of the William Penn Teachers Book Club for 25 years. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Timothy A. Kirkpatrick; her sister Frances T. McKenna and her husband John of North Wilmington; her niece Tamara Cook and her son David Cook, Jr., both of North Wilmington.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 1, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Interment will be private.

Joyce Lucille Dale Bundick,

Joyce Lucille Dale Bundick, 69, of Millsboro died Saturday, March 25, 2006, in her home.
She was born in Millsboro, daughter of the late Eddie and Loretta Brown Cohan. Mrs. Bundick was a graduate of the William Jason High School She was a custodian for Stockley Center, retiring after 23 years of service.
Mrs. Bundick was formerly a member of Dickerson Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she served as an usher, stewardess, member of the board, and member of the chancel choir. She was in the women’s society and the Easter Star.
At the time of her passing, Mrs. Bundick was a member of St. George’s A.M.E. Church, Lewes, where she served on many boards. She was on the senior choir and a devout worker in the church
Mrs. Bundick was a treasurer of women’s day, vice president of the senior choir, president of the budget committee and president of pastor’s aide, and an usher board member.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Willis J. Bundick of Millsboro; two sons, Lamont Garrison of Hindsville, Ga.; and Victor M. Garrison of Exmore, Va.; a daughter, Wanda Morehead of Philadelphia; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends, nieces and nephews and all her church family.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 31, in the Dickerson Chapel AME Church, Millsboro. The Rev. Richard Worthy will officiate and the Rev. Marcus Briddell will deliver the eulogy
Burial will be in People’s Memorial cemetery , Rehoboth Beach.
Blanche Williams Outten,
retired school teacher
Blanche Williams Outten, 91, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Millsboro, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, in her home.
Mrs. Outten was born in Sprakers, N.Y., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Williams.
She was a retired school teacher. She taught business and math in Millsboro High School as a young woman. Mrs. Outten was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro. While living in Florida, she was a leader of Campfire Girls for more than eight years.
She is survived by three daughters, Susan Culbert, Bonnie Williams and Cheri Tyner; four sisters, Nina Timmons, Harriet Baker, Gloria Davis and Pat Willey; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, April 1, in Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro.
Burial will be in Millsboro cemetery . The Rev. Rob Townsend will officiate.
Margaret Jane Reed,

Margaret Jane Reed, 82, of Millsboro died Sunday, March 26, 2006, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mrs. Reed was born in Largy, Killybegs, County Donegal, Ireland, daughter of the late Peter and Madge Byrne Leslie.
She received her nursing school training in Salisbury, England.
Mrs. Reed retired in 1985 as a charge attendant with the Stockley Center in Millsboro after 26 years of service. She enjoyed cooking and reading.
Mrs. Reed was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Roman Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7422, both in Millsboro.
She is survived by her husband, Paul William Reed of Millsboro; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Peter William and Donna Reed of Bear and Shawn Patrick and Teresa Reed of Garner, N.C.; three sisters, Bridget Gricus of St. Petersburg, Fla., Teresa Kelly of London, England, and Josephine Wilson of Glascow, Scotland; and three grandchildren, Megan Reed of Bear and Brian Reed and Mary Beth Reed, both of Garner.
Mass of Christian Burial was held in Mary Mother of Peace Roman Catholic Church.
Burial was in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery , Millsboro.

Charles ‘Doll Baby’ Harmon,
retired poultry worker
Charles “Doll Baby” Harmon, 87, of Millsboro died Friday, March 24, 2006, in Green Valley Terrace, Millsboro.
He was born April 2, 1918, in Showell, Md., son of the late Ernest Harmon and Ida Handy Showell Harmon.
Mr. Harmon retired from Bunting’s Nursery in Selbyville in 1981. Prior to that, he worked for H&H Poultry in Selbyville for many years.
He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Dagsboro. He loved his family.
Mr. Harmon liked walking, collecting cans and being with his friends at Brandywine Apartments and at the Christian Storehouse.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Taylor Harmon in July 17, 1995; a sister, Corina Mumford; and two stepsons, Robert Taylor and Junior Lee Taylor.
He is survived by five stepdaughters, Lois Handy and her husband Clarence of Frankford, Lucinda Taylor of Frankford, Ernestine Taylor of Millsboro, Lillian Taylor of Longbranch, N.J., and Marie Taylor of Selbyville; two stepsons, James Taylor of Neptune, N.J. and Alexander Taylor of Oxon Hill, Md.; four nieces, Ida Mumford of North Carolina, Gloria Jones of North Carolina, Yolanda Griffin of Sudlersville, Henrietta Purnell of North Carolina; two nephews, Clarence Mumford of North Carolina and William Mumford South Carolina; and many other family and friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in the Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour earlier. Bro. George Collins will officiate.
Burial will be in Zoar Golden Acres cemetery , Bishopville, Md., at a later date.
Norma E. Hopkins,
DuPont retiree
Norman E. Hopkins, 79, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Norma retired in 1987 after 32 years as a textile lab technician with the DuPont Company Chestnut Run site. She enjoyed bingo, ceramics, camping and traveling, including a trip to Europe in the 70s.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Baldwin. Norma is survived by her children, Sandra L. Hopkins, Carolyn Ann Brown, John D. Hopkins, Susan H. Coombs and Irving L Hopkins, IV; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grand-children.
A service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 31, at the McCrery Memorial Chapel, Kirkwood Highway and Duncan Road, Wilmington. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
George R. Benton Jr.,

George Russell Benton Jr., 25, of Millsboro died unexpectedly, along with his dearest and best friend, Jason Garrity Morse, whom he loved like a brother, Friday, March 24, 2006, near Gumboro, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Benton was born in Milford, son of George Russell Benton Sr., now of Millsboro, and Theresa Bawek, now of Charlottesville, Va.
He attended Milford High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team, and graduated from Sussex Central High School in 1999.
Mr. Benton was employed as an installer for Delaware Elevator, Salisbury, Md.
He loved music and sports. He also enjoyed snowboarding, and his favorite hobby was clubbing and girl-hunting.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George W. and Ruth I. Benton.
He is survived by his mother, Theresa Bawek, and her companion, Paul Weidman, both of Charlottesville; his father and stepmother, George Russell Sr. and Windy Benton; a brother, Kenneth Roger Benton, and his companion, Tara Parkhurst, both of Millsboro; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Angela and Andre White of Millsboro, Katrina and Joseph Hardy of Holiday, Fla., Whitney Krick and Melissa Krick, both of Millsboro, and Joclynn Benton of Millsboro; maternal grandparents, Roland and Elinor Bawek of Harrington; five nephews; two nieces; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his extended family, including Todd Hammond, Ryan Frey, Billie Morse, Ryan Morse, Kristin Morse and “second parents,” Loretta and Bill Morse.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, at Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown. Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, in the funeral home, where friends also may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery , Georgetown.
