A. Ross Adams,

A. Ross Adams, 81, of Rehoboth Beach, died Sunday, November 6, 2005 at his residence. Prior to relocating to Rehoboth Beach last year, Mr. Adams and his wife resided for 20 years in Pipers Landing, Palm City, Fla.
Mr. Adams was born Feb. 29, 1924 in Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. son of the late Elliot and Bessie (Smith) Adams.
Mr. Adams was a graduate of Harvard University and held a Ph.D in chemistry from the University of Delaware. He was employed as the General Manager of Air Products Corporation, Plastics Division, Allentown, Pa., before retiring in 1985. He was an avid golfer, history buff, enjoyed playing bridge and using his computer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Bradford Adams in 2001.
He is survived his wife of 21 years, Virginia (Patterson) Adams; his son Maurice Adams and his wife Phyllis and their two children, Sarah and Marguerite, all of Baltimore, Md.; and a sister, Helen Hatch of Venice, Fla.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 11, at All Saints cemetery
near Angola. Father Max Wolf will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 201-B W. DuPont Highway, Millsboro, DE 19966.

John “Jack” W. Wooters,
retired carpenter
John “Jack” W. Wooters, 71, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mr. Wooters was born in Blade on Jan. 2, 1934. He served in the U. S. Army from 1956 to 1962. He was stationed at Ft. Gordon, Ga. and then served at the Savannah River Defense Area in Barnwell, S.C. John held the position of a SP5 in Battery C Artillery Battalion. After his service duty, he worked as a carpenter for 38 years. He loved building and refinishing furniture, watching and caring for birds, sports and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Catherine Wooters, three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Gladys King Wooters of Georgetown; a daughter Stefanie Wooters also of Georgetown; one sister Delores Barbin of Saco, Maine; one sister-in-law, Esther Willey of Redden; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Beebe Medical Foundation, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, Georgetown.
GraceMarie Baer,
Calvary Baptist member
GraceMarie Baer, 81, of Milton, died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at home.
Mrs. Baer was born in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of the late Jane and Roberta (Altenburg) Buck.
GraceMarie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Georgetown, and was a “Stone Believer in Christ.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon W. Baer, in January 2005.
She is survived by three sons, the Rev. Clarence “Doc” T. Beale, Dr. Harry A. Beale and Darwin J. Beale; a daughter, Sally Wilkus; a sister, Hazel Dixon; 11 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, at Calvary Baptist Church in Georgetown.

Marjorie Ann Campbell,
former theatre operator
Marjorie Ann Campbell, 84, of Millsboro and formerly of Dagsboro, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 20005, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a talented homemaker who enjoyed sewing and ws known throughout the community for her baked goods. She was the former co-owner and operator of the Clayton Theatre and Cut-Rate, along with her husband, and sister, Marion and her husband Pete Hancock, for 25 years. Marjorie was a very active member of the Bethel United Methodist church, where she served various committees and the church choir until her illness.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ebe and Blanche Wharton Chandler; and sister, Marion C. Hancock.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alvin A. “Skeet” Campbell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and Charles Bireley of Dagsboro, and Lucinda and Terry Hearn of Dagsboro; three grandchildren, Charles “Chuck”; Bireley of Bethany Beach, Christopher Bireley of Fenwick Island and Jennifer Evans Spinks of Hedgesville, W.Va.; three great-grandchildren; and nieces Jane H. McComrick of Dagsboro, Sandie H. Gerken of Dagsboro and Beth H. Bunting of Bishopville, Md.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11, in Bethel United Methodist Church, Dagsboro, where friends may call after noon. Interment will be in the Prince George’s cemetery , Dagsboro.

William Murphy McKee,

William Murphy “Bill” “Reds” McKee, 70, of Wilmington and Lewes, passed away peacefully at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005.
The son of the late Andrew and Evelyn Murphy McKee, he was born in Barnesboro, Pa. and graduated from Conrad High School where he played football and baseball and earned a position on the All-State Football Team. During the Korean Conflict he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 19,formerly Local 59. He was a member of a scuba diving club, enjoyed boating, snow skiing and Lewes Beach.
His wife, Doris Kraus McKee, died in 1973.
Bill was a fun-loving, kind and generous person who loved people and life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by his daughters, Karen Kern McDowell and her husband, Ronald E., of Wilmington, and Elaine M. Bristowe and her husband, Kevin D., of Lewes.
He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-0law, Evelyn M. and John A. Kyritsis of Lewes; grandchildren, Ryan W. Bristowe, Christine M. Bristowe, Melinda K.J. Kern and Thomas M. Kern Jr.; his nieces, Susan Kyritsis Winward and Marilyn A. Bartley; and a nephew, Andrew John Kyritsis.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown roads, Wilmington, where visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery , Bear, at 2 p.m.

Patricia Ann Lynam,
Lewes native
Patricia Ann Hill Lynam, 62, of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Mrs. Lynam was born April 28, 1943 in Wilmington, to the late Edgar Layton Hill and Rosalie Emma Brohawn Hill of Lewes.
Mrs. Lynam was a 1960 graduate of P.S. DuPont High School in Wilmington. She also attended the University of Delaware for one year.
Mrs. Lynam had worked as an Executive Secretary for Ames-Ennis of Towson, Md. prior to owning and operating the Nice & Easy Toning and Tanning Salon in Bethany Beach, in the mid 1980s.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband Edward William Lynam Jr.; a sister, Betsy Bailey; a niece, Ashley Crispin; a grandniece Corinne Crispin; and two grandnephews, Gabe Crispin and Cameron Crispin, all of Lewes.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15, 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, Rts. 26 & 17, Clarksville. Jeannie Flemming of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Bethany Beach, will officiate.

Shirley Ball Newcomer,
retired waitress
Shirley Ball Newcomer, 75, of Milton, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes.
She was born in Roanoke, Va., the daughter of the late Ernest and Roxie Sink Snap. She was a waitress and also worked at Ames in Millsboro for six years.
She was a custodian for Bethel Baptist Church near Claymont of which she was a member and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Georgetown.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Hunter; a son, Barry Ball; four sisters, Mary Weaver, Juanita Hodges, Janice Thrash and Jean Hodges; and a grandson, Wallace Hunter.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Newcomer; a son, James Ball and his wife, Faith, of Grants Pass, Ore; two daughters, Connie Boheler of Morristown, Tenn. and Barbara Baker and her husband, William, of Gumboro; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 14, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans cemetery , 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

Arthur A. Halverson Keys,
Merchant Marine
Arthur Halverson Keys, 80, of Millsboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 24, 1925 in Long Beach, Calif. to the late Ivan Claude Keys Sr. and the late Julia Splittstoesser Keys.
Mr. Keys graduated from the New London Maritime Academy, New London, Ct. in 1945. He enjoyed a 46-year career with the U.S. Merchant Marines.
He served on many convoys during World War II and was the chief engineer for 33 years with Farrel Lines, U.S. Lines. He also worked for the “City of Hope,” the hospital ship, for 14 months on the West Africa Coast.
He is survived by his wife Delpha Bostock Keys, Ed.D.; one daughter, Susan A. Keys, Ph.D. of Springfield, Mass.; and one brother, Ivan C. Keys of Fall River Mills, Calif.
All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.

John Townsend Tubbs,

J. Townsend Tubbs, of Rehoboth Beach, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, in Lewes following a heart attack.
A life-long resident of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and part-time resident of Bethesda, Md., “Townie” Tubbs was the son of the late J. Asbury Tubbs and Edith Townsend Tubbs, and the grandson of the late John G. Townsend, Governor and U.S. Senator from Delaware.
Born Feb. 2, 1918 in Selbyville, Mr. Tubbs attended Culver Military Academy, Lawrenceville School and Yale University. He was an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the Atlantic.
After military service, Mr. Tubbs joined his father and brother, Bill, in the family lumber and construction business, Selbyville Manufacturing Company, eventually becoming president until the business was sold in the early 1980s. He also served on the board of directors of Baltimore Trust, which later merged with Mercantile Bank, and became Chairman of the Board. After retiring from the Board in 1993, he became a licensed agent with Jack Lingo Inc. in Rehoboth.
Mr. Tubbs also served on the boards of the Rehoboth Art League and Rehoboth Beach Country Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and was a frequent traveler.
His first wife, Marjorie (Teddy) Chapman Tubbs, died in 1966. His second wife, Jean Wire Tubbs, died in 1990.
He is survived by a son, John Townsend Tubbs Jr. of Bozeman, Mont.; four stepchildren, Marilyn Layton of Lewes, William C. Murphy of Washington, Michele Newman of Bethesda and Melinda Deay of Malvern, and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

Betty Ann Mumford,

Betty Ann Mumford, 73, of Millsboro, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Betty was the daughter of the late Leroy and Mabel Truitt Webb. She worked at several restaurants, including Mumford’s Store, and helped her husband on their farm. However, she really enjoyed doing things for other people, including baking her famous apple cakes and fudge.
Betty was a loving and caring person who will be missed by her family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Myrtle Mumford; and a son-in-law, Bruce Bunting.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Marshall Mumford; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gary Brittingham of Millsboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Richard Jenney of Millsboro; a grandson and his wife, Jonathan and Laura Brittingham of Bethany Beach; and a grandson, Brooks Jenney; and granddaughter, Megan Jenney of Dagsboro.
She is also survived by a sister, Grace Wilkerson of Seaford; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Carl Niblett of Georgetown; a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Charles Holston of Georgetown; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Darlene And Wayne Cropper of Dagsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bob Hudson will officiate.
Burial will be in Millsboro cemetery.
