Grinolds, Rickey Allen
Air Force
Rickey Allen Grinolds, age 53 died April 7, 2010 in Tallasse, Alabama under Hospice care. He was formerly from Millsboro, Delaware.
He was a career soldier in the US Air Force, retiring at the rank of Technical Sergeant. Born in Millsboro in 1957, he was the son of Larry and Mary Ellen Simpson Grinolds, also of Millsboro. He was employed as a Civil Servant and computer programmer at Gunner Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. He belonged to a country classic band, "Country Velvet." He was a fan of Elvis Presley. His great pleasure was singing. He loved football and NASCAR racing. He was a devoted son, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family. During his career in the Air Force, he received several accommodation medals. He belonged to the VFW, American Legion and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving and devoted wife Linda Pauline Grinolds, two sons: William Grinolds and his wife Lulis, of West Palm Beach, FL and Patrick Grinolds, of Tallassee, Alabama; One daughter: Joy Grinolds, of Wetumpka, AL and two step-daughters: Tammy Marks, and her husband Carl, of Morgan City, LA and Belinda Legnon, and husband David of Bayo Lewes, LA. He is also survived by his special friend, John Watson and the Country Velvet Band, his three beloved canine friends Buster, Sweetie and Angel and numerous extended family and friends across the whole country.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wed. April 14, 2010 at the Grace United Methodist Church, 7 S. King Street in Georgetown, DE where friends may call one hour prior to the service for visitation. Pastor Mike McGee will officiate. Interment will be on Thursday morning, April 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Delaware Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro with full military honors. Pinkerton, Marie Anna
Marie Anna Pinkerton age 85, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware passed away on August 22, 2010 at home. Marie retired from RCA as a commercial artist. She had been a member of the Eastern Star. She was an accomplished artist and received a Citation from former Governor Ruth Ann Minner. She taught at the Rehoboth Art League for over 10 years. Marie was a loving and caring person, her life revolved around her family and art. She was preceded in death by her parents: William & Marie Winters Berwick, sister: Norma Tomlinson, brothers: William, Charles and John Berwick. She is survived by her husband: Lewis C. Pinkerton, children: Joyce Eaton and husband Thomas of Woodbury Heights New Jersey, and Douglass R. Gamble and wife Cheryl of Medford, New Jersey. Brothers; Frank "Fritz" Berwick of Port St. Lucy, Florida, Leonard Berwick and wife Virginia of Gladwyne Pa. sister: Nancy Racmil of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 5 grandchildren: David, Christy, Ashley, Audrey, and Megan 6 great grandchildren; Tyler, Olivia, Matthew, Joseph, Mary Margaret, and Catherine Elizabeth. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3072 Savannah East Drive, Lewes, Delaware. SHELLEY LYNN BERRY
CONYERS, Ga. - Shelley Lynn Berry, who was a wife, mother and Administrative Assistant for the South Coastal District of The Wesleyan Church, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at her home in Conyers, GA. She was 56.Shelley was involved in a very serious car accident on September 10, 2007 in Conyers. The accident left her significantly disabled but her fighting spirit remained. The past two and a half years was a daily battle for rehabilitation and independence. In recent days her health continued to decline.Shelley is the daughter of Robert and Pauline Miller of Croswell, Michigan who preceded her in death. Shelley has two sisters, Susan Green and Cheryl Barr both who live in Michigan. Shelley was saved under the influence of a godly grandmother (Mabel Miller) who took her to church. Rev. Elmer and JoAnne Drury were instrumental in her going to Christian college. Shelley was the first in her family to attend college.Shelley went on to graduate from the Cros-Lex High School in Croswell, MI, earn a B.S. from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, In., and a Masters of Christian Education from Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore Kentucky. Shelley also worked on a Masters from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.Later Shelley worked as the Dean of Women at United Wesleyan College of Allentown, Pa. While working in Allentown Shelley met her love - Dan A. Berry. They were married on May 20, 1980 at the Bethany Wesleyan Church in Cherryville, Pa. Shelley and Dan begin working in pastoral ministry in 1982 with The Wesleyan Church. They pastored in Pennsylvania, New York, Indiana, and recently in Georgia. Recently, they worked in denominational service in New York and Georgia.Shelley was an outstanding student. Shelley was recognized as "Outstanding Young Women in America" in 1978 and later in 1983 Shelley was recognized as "Woman of The Year". She was also a member of the National Honor Society.Shelley and Dan have two boys; Jason Daniel Berry and Joshua Robert Berry. Jason is a campus pastor with 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville, Ga. Joshua Robert Berry is a last year dental student in Indianapolis, In (University of Indiana). Shelley will long be known as a leader of women, a loving and capable mother and a wonderful wife and helpmeet to her husband as they labored in a life-time of Christian ministry. A viewing will take place for family and friends on Monday, March 8th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Wages Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, GA. The funeral will be conducted Tuesday, March 9th at 1:00 PM at the 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville, GA. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the South Coastal Benevolent Fund, 1261 Parker Road, Conyers, GA 30019. Matthews, James Robert
James Robert Matthews age 87, of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on August 23, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center. James retired from Vlasic Foods. He loved to hunt, cut grass, and work in his garden. He is preceded in death by his parents: Charles & Mary Dutton Matthews his wife Cordelia Harmon Matthews daughter Carolyn Marshall, brother Lincoln Matthews, 2 sisters; Rachel & Elizabeth Matthews. He is survived by his children: James Harmon and wife Lucille, of Seaford, Delaware, Larry Harmon of Millsboro, Delaware, Nelson Matthews of Millsboro, Delaware, Kathy Matthews of Millsboro, Delaware, Tammy Mathews of Georgetown, Delaware 10 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and several cousins, extended family and friends. Murray, Milton H.
Army
Milton H. Murray, age 94, of Haverford, PA, formerly of Drexel Hill, PA and Bishopville, MD passed away on August 20th 2010 at the Westgate Nursing Home in Haverford, PA. Mr. Murray was born on August 19th 1916 in New Castle, DE to the late Harvey and Addie Bunting Murray.
Milton moved from Bishopville, MD to Philadelphia, PA in the early 30s. Mr. Murray was a retired civilian employee of the U.S. Army where he worked in the Procurement Department as an accounting official. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He was very active in his church and church activities over the years. "Uncle Milton" was a very caring, generous, and trusting man with a big heart; He was always willing to help anyone in need that he could.
He was modest about his accomplishments but it must be told of a good deed he did 40 years ago that changed many lives. Uncle Milton knew this young couple that had an opportunity to buy a funeral home but needed help to do it. He made it possible for James Funeral Home to become James & Watson Funeral Home. Later it became Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro and continues to this day with a Watson undertaker practicing. This deed has helped thousands of Sussex Countians and others over the years and he is greatly responsible for that.
He is survived by his cousins Marion G. Irvine, Alex Irvine, Janice Dobrin, and Harold, many friends past and present, other cousins, and extended family in Delaware.
Services will be graveside at the Bishopville Cemetery in Bishopville, Maryland on Saturday, August 28th at 1:00 PM. Friends may call from 11:30 - 12:30 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware.
Baker III, Edward
Edward Baker III age 54, of Georgetown, Delaware passed away on August 27, 2010 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland. Edward enjoyed Baseball, and Football. He worked as a secretary for Dagsboro Church of God for 17 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Jr.& Jane Mary Steele Baker, and a brother Harry J. Akins. He is survived by his wife Patricia Baker of Georgetown, Delaware, 1 Godchild, Taleigh West of Millsboro, Delaware and several cousins, extended family throughout Sussex County. Kusel, Julian J.
Julian J. Kusel, age 99, of Lewes, Delaware passed away on March 13, 2010. He was born in Brooklyn, NY son of the late Ludwig & Alice Songen Kuselelewicz. His wife Julia Doviak Kusel, a brother Tony, and sisters Victoria, Mary, and Violet, also predecease him. He is survived by his son, Julian P Kusel and wife Kathleen of Frederick, Md., and daughter Constance M. Paller of Lewes, Delaware, and 2 sisters, Stella Carlson, and Irene Smakula, 6 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Julian retired in 1971 after 38 years of service as a technician for Western Electric. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Telephone Pioneers of America. He never missed anyone's birthday, or anniversary, and was a very generous man. He was an active communicator. Services and Burial will be private. Arrangement by Watson Funeral Home 211 S. Hall Jr., Earlis B.
Earlis B. Hall Jr. "Butchie", age 50, of Georgetown, Delaware, son of the late Earlis B. Hall Sr., departed this life on Monday, August 16, 2010, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, Delaware, after a long illness. Butchie received his early education in the public schools of lower Sussex County and graduated from Indian River High School. During his life, Butchie worked several jobs, most recently as a cook at Hocker's Market in Clarksville, Delaware. He loved cooking, music, electronics, and had a real talent for drawing. Butchie is survived by, his mother, Ann F. Williams, brother Enos Hall and wife Tammy, several half brothers and sisters, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Taylor, Dwight Everette
Dwight Everette Taylor, age 54, of Millsboro, Delaware went home to rest safely in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Milford Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Linwood David and Sarah Elizabeth Taylor of Millsboro, and sister, Priscilla Snell of Cleveland, Ohio. Dwight attended Sussex Central High School and graduated in 1973. Dwight was first employed by Ames Department Store in Millsboro. During his employment at Ames, he was recruited for employment at Delmarva Power and Light. Leaving to cherish the fond memories are his wife Sharon of 31 years, two daughters, Tarez and Nicole Taylor, three grandchildren, Ca'Sharra Sample of Georgetown, Caitlyn and Darien Taylor of Millsboro, nine sisters—Sylvia"Jennie"Santiago (Joe); Pamela; Wanda; Bertha: Gail and Sebrena Taylor all of Millsboro; Shirley Conaway of Harrington; Catherine Hall (Aldon) of Clarksville and Linda Perry (Lawrence) of Chesapeake, Virginia, 2 brothers—Bruce of Georgetown and Robert (Anna) of Columbus, Ohio, 2 sisters-in-law - Sheryl McQueen and Minnie Currington (Lorenzo) both of Millsboro, 1 brother-in-law - George Mosley (Jennifer), and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Marker, Clayton Allen
Clayton Allen Marker, of Georgetown died April 22, 2010, at home.
Born in Milford, on Nov 23, 1963, he was the son of the late Vernon and Dolores Bowers Marker. He owned and operated his own business, Marker's Plumbing and Oil Burner Service.
He loved his family, was a wonderful brother, father, grandfather and uncle. He was fiercely devoted to his family, and had a unique sense of humor. He was a duck lover, and would not hunt them. He loved the outdoors, and fishing. He was a great cook, and made the best Chili. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, in Georgetown.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lisa L. Marker; two sons, Justin Allen Marker and Joseph Wilkerson, and his wife Christie, all of Georgetown; and a daughter, Heather Clark and her husband Danny, of Gumboro. Also survived by his step-father, Linwood B. Marvel, of Millsboro; a brother-in-law, Wayne Bradley, of Georgetown; two sisters, Joyce Wilson, and husband Donald of Georgetown, and Rita Mahaffey and husband Glenn of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Blake and Austin Wilkerson; and a nieces, Haley Wyatt, Loren Mahaffey, and Verna Hicks and his "adopted niece" Rachel Grahovac. He is also survived by many friends, and extended family across Sussex County.
Calling hours for visitation will be Monday evening, April 26, from 5 to 7 p.m., and again on Tuesday, April 27, from 1 p.m. till 2 p.m. at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro. Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday. Pastor Mike McGee will officiate, interment afterwards at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Thelma Almiria Bunting Clogg, 87, of Dagsboro, Delaware, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2010. She was the daughter of Jobie B. and Delphia Gray Bunting, of Bishopville, Maryland. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Russell Thomas (Pete) Clogg; 2 granddaughters, Melissa Ann Webb, 1969, and Heidi Elizabeth Bunting, 1980; 2 sisters, Beatrice B. Megee, Elsie B. Smith; and brother Harry L. Bunting; and grand-son-in-law, Scott A. Quillen. Thelma is survived by her daughters, Connie C. Webb and husband, Richard and Sara C. Bunting and her husband Ellison; grandchildren Karen S. Carey (Howard) Keith A. Bunting (Glenda), and Tara W. Quillen; 3 great grandchildren Delaney K. Quillen, Caroline E. Bunting and Benjamin A. Bunting and her sister Patsey B. Dean of South Carolina, and several nieces and nephews; Her special caretakers, Inez Davis, Ruby Garrison, Regina McCray, Annie Ford, Miss Billy, her life-long neighbor, Henrietta Daisey; Nurse Nancy and those at Compassionate Care.
She was a life long member of Christ United Methodist Church and Bethal United Methodist Cuhrch of Dagsboro; past member of Dagsboro Republican Club. Langhorst, Genevieve M.
Genevieve M. “Gene” Langhorst, age 79, of Millsboro, Delaware, formerly of Gaithersburg and Rockville, MD and Yonkers, NY passed on Monday, July, 19, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Delaware. Mrs. Langhorst was born on November 27, 1930 in Yonkers, New York to the late Newton DeWitt and Catherine Keenan LeFevre.
Gene was educated at the Blessed Sacrament Academy in Yonkers, Katharine Gibbs School in NYC, and attended the school of General Studies of Columbia University. She was president of her High School Alumnae, a member of the Junior Assembly of Yonkers, and Treasurer of the Young Women’s Republican Club of Yonkers.
Mrs. Langhorst was a member of Mary Mother of Peace R.C. Church, Millsboro, Delaware. She had been a past president of the Sussex County Republican Women’s Club and Millsboro Women’s Civic Club, Sussex County membership chairman of the DSFWC, treasurer of the mace and gavel unit of the NAP, and a member of the Columbiettes #11285.
Gene married her teenage sweetheart William J. Langhorst in 1963 and they were together until his death in February 2000. She worked for several companies before joining IBM, White Plains, NY in January 1958 and retired from IBM, Bethesda, MD in January 1989 as an analyst.
She is survived by her son William J. Langhorst, Jr. and his wife Alice E. of Arlington, Virginia and many cousins and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 26th at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 202 Edward Street, Georgetown, Delaware where friends may call at 10 AM. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
Friends may also call Sunday from 4-6:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 5 PM offered at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S Washington, Street, Millsboro, Delaware.
