Heverin, David H.
David H. Heverin, 75, of Woodside passed away April 30, 2010.
He was born on July 3, 1934 in Townsend, Delaware, son of the late Sidney and Ada (Blanchfield) Heverin.
David worked as a farm laborer and loved to play the guitar.
He is also preceded in death by a son David Foraker.
David is survived by a son John Foraker of Dover, a daughter Benalee Foraker Murphy, three brothers, two sisters, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 7-9 pm Tuesday, May 4 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Graveside service will be 11 am Wednesday at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the funeral home to help with expenses.
Haas, Edward W.
Army
Edward W. Haas 88 of Dover DE passed away peacefully Friday May 7, 2010 surrounded by his beloved family at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
He was born February 3, 1922 at home in Dover, the son of the late William and Anna Haas who emigrated from East Germany.
He proudly served his country in the Unites States Army Air Corp during WWII as a flight instructor stationed in Colgate NY.
After the war, he was partner in the Haas Brothers agriculture business at Greenlawn Farms which was a major poultry producer in Kent County.
He enjoyed a second career with the State of Delaware Department of Agriculture working as the Agricultural Products Inspector III for many years until his retirement to Florida.
Ed was a licensed inspector for shell eggs at the Federal level and administered Federal Shell Eggs Surveillance Law for the State of Delaware.
He was instrumental in writing the Delaware egg law that set the standards for any retail egg sales.
Ed was an avid golfer serving as Marshall in several LPGA golf tournaments.
He volunteered for Kent General Hospital Emergency Room and also participated in Big Brothers.
Ed enjoyed doing carpentry projects around the house, gardening and fishing.
He loved classical music and sang in the church choir and many Community Singers concerts, his favorite was the Messiah.
He spent his retirement in Sun City Center Florida, moving back to Dover after a recent illness.
He was predeceased by his siblings William Jr., Laura Robinson, Charles, Fred, August, Caroline Haas, Louise Jamison and Woodrow.
He is survived by his daughters Carol Susan Young of Dover, DE and Barbara Ann Haas of Frederica, DE; a grandson, Gregory Young and his wife Kelly and grandchildren Sean and Megan Young all of York PA; his sisters Evelyn Armor Thomson of West Grove PA and Catherine Haynes of Ellsworth ME; and many beloved nieces and nephews and friends.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff of the ICU and Medical Surgical Units at Bayhealth Kent General and the doctors and staff of Delaware Heart and Vascular PA and Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
Friends may visit Saturday May 22, 2010 from 11am with a memorial service at 12:00 at Pippin Funeral Home 119 W Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming DE.
Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.

deCastro, Dulce Lopez
Dulce Lopez de Castro died Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Capitol Healthcare Services in Dover surrounded by her family.
Born in 1921 in Santiago, Cuba, she was the daughter of the late Domingo Lopez and Salustiana Solis Lopez.
Mrs. de Castro was a loving mother and grandmother.
She loved being with her family and cooking for them.
Her greatest joys were her 4 grandchildren.
Mrs. de Castro is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Grizel and Alex Muniz of Dover, her son and daughter-in-law, Jorge and Charlene de Castro, of Bethpage, NY and her grandchildren, Alexis and Rebecca Muniz of Dover, DE and Kevin, and Mark de Castro of Bethpage, NY.
Visitation will be 7-9 pm Thursday, April 8 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Burial will be 11 am Friday at St. Charles Cemetery, Lindenhurst, NY.
Waterfield, Brenda Diane
Brenda Diane Waterfield of Smyrna, Delaware passed away on Sunday June 20, 2010 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware.
She was 57.
Mrs. Waterfield was born December 30, 1952 in Newport News, Virginia the daughter of the late Hartsell Buchanan and Myrtle Freeman Buchanan of Smyrna.
She enjoyed working as a manager for Modern Maturity Center in Peach Circle in Smyrna.
Mrs. Waterfield was an Elvis fan, and enjoyed working with the elderly and going to antique car shows.
She liked flowers and working in her garden, and enjoyed shopping, especially at Wal Mart.
She is survived by her husband, William C. Waterfield; a son, Robert L. Waterfield of Smyrna; two brothers Robert Allen Buchanan of Bear, Delaware, and Billie R. Buchanan of Blackbird, Delaware; and extended family members.
Funeral services will be Friday June 25, 2010 at 12noon in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware where friends may call one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Delaware.
Messick, Jr., Carles Clay
Carles Clay Messick, Jr. of Smyrna, Delaware died peacefully at home on Wednesday March 24, 2010.
He was 80.
Mr. Messick was born August 22, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the son of the late Carles Clay Messick, Sr. and Reita Elizabeth Mills.
Mr. Messick was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He retired after 27 years as a truck driver for Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., where he earned the Two Million Safe Miles Reward.
After retirement, Carles continued to drive for Power Electronics until September of 2009.
He was a life member of the National Rifle Association.
Carles was a devoted family man and a patriot.
He enjoyed collecting scale model 18 wheel trucks, was a competitive card and board game player, and loved to cook Sunday dinners for his entire family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lavina A. Messick; 6 sons, Carles Clay Messick, III and his wife Deborah, Richard Wayne Messick, Daniel Brian Messick and his wife Patty, John Anthony Messick and his wife Virginia, Donald Irwin Messick and his wife Pam, and William Rodney Messick and his wife Vanessa; 3 daughters, Yvonne Renee Hengst and her husband Robert, Patricia Ellen Russell and her husband Steven, and Lavina Ann Slavin and her husband Andy; 28 grandchildren, including Brandy L. Mason, who was raised by Carles and Lavina; 3 step grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Nelson Edward Mesick and his wife Sue; 3 sisters, Ann Synder, Gloria Mae Cahall, and Betty Jane Haley.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 12 noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 310 Clark Farm Road, Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call at 11am.
Burial will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, Delaware 19701.

Arrington "Doc", Paul F.
Air Force
Paul F. Arrington "Doc" of Clayton, DE passed away on Monday August 16, 2010 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE.
He was 50.
Mr. Arrington was born November 20, 1959 in New Castle, DE son of George and Joan Connor Arrington of Mt. Pleasant, SC.
Doc retired from the United States Air Force after many years of service as an Air Craft Mechanic.
He most recently worked for Prestwick House, Inc. in Smyrna, DE.
Mr. Arrington loved fishing and was known to always have a drink in his hand.
He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post #3220 of New Castle, DE.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Karen L. Arrington; a son, Paul R. Arrington; a daughter, Stacy L. Arrington; and a step-son, David L. Gagliardi all of Clayton.
Funeral services will be Wednesday August 25, 2010 at 2 PM in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.
