Dittman, George I. "Skip"

George I. "Skip" Dittman of Smyrna, Delaware passed away at home Tuesday November 16, 2010.
He was 78.
Mr. Dittman was born October 7, 1932 in Clayton, DE the son of the late John E. and Ida May Archer Dittman.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Wrights Construction Company in Wilmington, DE for many years before retirement.
Mr. Dittman was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of V.F.W. Post #8801 in Smyrna, the American Legion David C. Harrison Post #14 in Smyrna and the DelVets.
He was also a member of the Modern Maturity Center in Dover, DE and his hobbies included dancing, gardening and driving cars for several area car dealerships.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Betz Dittman in 2005.
He is survived by a son, Bruce Kevin Dittman of Smyrna; a daughter, Lucinda Marie Price of Dover; two brothers, Benjamin Alfred Dittman of Blackistons, DE and Lester Leroy Dittman of State College, PA; two sisters, Ida May Wood and Ella Francis Pleasanton both of Smyrna; four grandchildren, Kevin and Brittany Dittman and Melody and Ashley Price and seven great grandchildren.
Services will be Monday November 22, 2010 at 11am in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, DE where friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8pm.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway Dover, DE 19901.
Shepard, Alton J.
Alton J. Shepard of Smyrna, DE passed away at home on Tuesday, December 21, 2010.
Funeral services will be privately held at a later date.
Blob, Henry F. "Bobby"
Henry F. "Bobby" Blob of Smyrna, DE passed away on Monday December 20, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was 81.
Mr. Blob was born August 13, 1929 in Cheltenham, PA the son of the late Max Blob and Frieda Bohner Blob.
He and his twin brother owned and operated Blob's Delicatessen until they retired in 1994. The Delicatessen was originally started by their father in 1932.
Bobby was an avid Philadelphia sports fan of the Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren, who were his whole life.
Bobby enjoyed traveling and taking cruises, and especially enjoyed his dream trip to Germany two years ago, where he had the time of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maryann Blob; three daughters, Susan Harrell and her husband Raymond of Hendersonville, TN, Lisa Lange and her husband David of Smyrna, and Beth Williams and her husband Thomas of Daretown, NJ; 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Missy, Tim, Amanda, Frank, Kasey, Samantha, Josh, Rosalie, Shadoe, and Lindsey; a great grandson, Ezra; his twin brother, Max; and his sister, Freddie.
Memorial services will be Thursday December 23, 2010 at 2 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel located at 29 S. Main St. Smyrna, DE, where friends may call at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Lankenau Medical Center, 100 Lancaster Ave., Wynnewood, PA 19096.
Givens, Myrtle
Myrtle Givens of Smyrna, Delaware passed away at home Thursday October 28, 2010.
She was 84.
Mrs. Givens was born October 7, 1926 in Smyrna, the daughter of the late James T. and Mable Baker Truax.
She worked for Cooks of Dover for 17 years before retirement.
Mrs. Givens enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Givens in 1977.
She is survived by two sons and their wives Jim and Edna Givens of Smyrna and Bob and Sue Givens of Smyrna; two sisters, Avis Reese of Dover, DE and Helen Spence of Winnsboro, LA; her grandchildren, Nicole Brittingham, Michelle Givens, Danielle Hopp and Michael Givens and her great grandchildren, Taylor and Sammy Brittingham and Aiden Givens.
Services will be Sunday October 31, 2010 at 2pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, DE, where friends may call one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna, DE.
Dailey, Mary Keevil
Mary Keevil Dailey passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, Virginia. She was 89.
Mrs. Dailey was born July 18, 1921 in Versailles, Missouri, the daughter of Mara Thomas Keevil and Gladys Hubbard Keevil. She grew up in the tiny town of Syracuse, Missouri and graduated from nearby Stephens College. She and her husband, Gene Dailey, were married in Missouri during the final years of WWII, and later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where their two children were raised.
In 1965, Mary and her family relocated to Dover, Delaware where she and Gene lived happily for many years. They both worked for Caesar Rodney School District, Mary as office manager at Star Hill Elementary School.
Mary's faith was a central part of her life. She was an active and involved member of the Presbyterian Church of Dover where she served as a deacon. Mary belonged to Dover's Century Club, and enjoyed participating in the Downtown Dover Days. She was actively involved in social welfare issues, was a member of the Democratic National Committee, and at the age of 79 participated in The Million Moms' March for stricter gun control. Mary's love of nature gave rise to two hobbies: bird watching and pressing flowers.
For the past four years Mrs. Dailey resided at Mennowood Retirement Community in Newport News, Virginia, where her friends there remembered her sweet, fun-loving and feisty nature in an informal service held on Saturday, December 18.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene, who passed away in 1993.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Anderson of Newport News, Virginia, and her son, Tom Dailey of Seattle, Washington, three granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 1 pm at the Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 S. State Street, Dover, Delaware.
A private graveside ceremony will be at the Old Presbyterian Cemetery in Dover.
