Arlene M. Flowers
Age 85, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at Heartland Hospice House on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 surrounded by her family.
Born in Lampeter, PA, Mrs. Flowers was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ida (Becker) Snyder. Her husband, John L. Flowers, predeceased her in 1978. Mrs. Flowers was a woman of strong faith. Proud mother of five children, Mrs. Flowers found happiness in her family. She is known for her beautiful blue eyes and warm smile. She often told others her family put the twinkle in her eyes. Loved by all who knew her, Mrs. Flowers will be greatly missed.
A devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her children, Arlene F. Tasker of Newark, John W. Flowers and his wife Barbara of Wilmington, Patricia A. Boyd and her husband, Jim, of Dagsboro, Carol J. Weir and her husband Wayne of Dagsboro, and Bonnie L. Jensen of Newark; eight grandchildren, Brian, Kevin, Stephanie, Ryan, Matthew, Jenel, Chris and Ginny; and seven great grandchildren, Alessandra, Teresina, Patricia, Olivia, Isabella, Daniel and Zachary.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 20th at 11 AM at the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.
Erminio J. Fioravanti "Muzzy"
Erminio J. Fioravanti, 83, of Wilmington Delaware passed away Friday morning, April 16, 2010 at the Christiana Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Born in Wilmington on August 15, 1926 the son of the late Camillo and Giovannina DiPersio Fioravanti. He attended the former Brown Vocational High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II continuing in the United States Army Reserve. Erminio was a shop superintendent and manufacturing engineer at NL Industries in Wilmington for 20 years. He also was employed at Zallea Brothers as a shop foreman and retired from SGL Piping Systems as a General Foreman.
Erminio was a sports enthusiast and passionate about the game of baseball. During his retirement years, Erminio spent many hours golfing with his wife and friends at Ed Oliver Golf Course, where he was also a starter. He enjoyed day trips to New York City with his wife, and weekly Wednesday coffee reunions with his fellow East Side buddies and dear brothers. Erminio had a green thumb and derived great pleasure from working in his garden. He also enjoyed fishing with his brothers and tying fishing lures. Most of all, Erminio will be remembered as a loyal husband who delighted in spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Erminio will be dearly missed by his wife of 57 years Ida, his daughter Sharon Cordrey and her husband Robert, his son, best friend, and number one fan Ronald and his partner Kim, and former wife Megan. He will also be sorely missed by his grandchildren Keith and his wife Lexie, Jeffrey, Kaci, Kelli, Thomas Joseph, Gabriela and great granddaughter Rebecca. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings Josephine Selvaggi, Dominica Perry, Bernard Fioravanti and Julio Fioravanti.
Friends and relatives may call at Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Mealey Funeral Home located at Limestone & Milltown Roads. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Catherine of Siena, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE. Entombment will follow in Christ the King Garden Mausoleum at Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington, DE.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Special Olympics of Delaware, in care of the University of Delaware, Newark, DE 19716-1901.
Williams, Robert J.
HARRINGTON - Robert J. Williams, of Harrington, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at home. He was 43.
Mr. Williams served his country proudly in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Williams was an over the road trucker for many years. He was passionate about driving and loved to do it. Another activity that he loved to do was cooking.
Mr. Williams was a very out going person who never met a stranger, even as a child. He had a strong personality and the gift of gab, and was stubborn and opinionated at times. However, he was also a generous person who was always helping others. He will be sadly missed.
In addition to parents, Bobby M. and Marie Williams of Mineral Wells, Texas, he is survived by a sister, Natalie A. and husband John Pool of Andrews, Texas; three nieces and nephew, Jessica, Jenna, Jordan, and Jamie.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home, Mineral Wells, Texas.

Harding, Marilyn "Marti"
HARRINGTON — Marilyn N. "Marti" Harding, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Genesis Seaford Center. She was 67.
Marti worked for a time with the Public Service Commission. She more recently served as secretary and treasurer for her husband's trucking operation, D & B Trucking, until their retirement.
Marti enjoyed traveling in her spare time. She went on several cruises and enjoyed them very much. She especially loved to travel with her husband on the back of his Harley, and went on several trips across the United States. In recent years, she enjoyed spending time in Chincoteague, VA, and found it quite relaxing to simply feed the ducks and seagulls. Marti also loved to dance, and attend concerts. Above all, Marti loved her family and close friends. She was loyal to them all and cared a great deal for them. She especially enjoyed having family or friends over to her well maintained home to show off her latest flower garden, or to go out to eat and socialize.
Marti will be remembered for her caring and loving attitude and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she has touched.
Marti attended the Crossroads Community Church in Georgetown, was a member and past treasurer of Kent County ABATE, lifetime member of the Milford VFW, Harrington Moose, and the American Legion Post CKRT #7.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Dorothy Beebe; and grandson, Steven Hydock II.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Donald R. "Daddy Don" Harding of Harrington; Sons and daughter in laws, Eric and Shirley Harding of Milford, Greg and Lora Harding of Milford, Kevin and Cathy Harding of Milford; daughter, Valerie Hydock of Milford; six grandchildren, Shawn, Daniel, Brianna, Rachel, Ryan Harding, Ashley Lane.
Funeral Service will be held Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. Du Pont Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service. Interment will be in the Milford Community Cemetery.

Smith, Terry J.
HARRINGTON - Terry J. Smith, of Harrington, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 in the Milford Hospice Center. He was 57. He was born the son of the late Aaron and Mae Smith.
Terry was a heavy construction equipment mechanic for over 30 years. He also loved working and restoring old cars. He could be found oftentimes working on farm machinery for local farmers until the wee hours of the morning. If anything mechanical needed to be worked on, all you had to do was call Terry.
From an early age, Terry spent a lot of his spare time in the saddle. He owned and rode horses until the present day, and participated in cattle team roping.
Terry will be remembered as a very high energy person, someone who could not sit still for very long. He spent much of his time helping others and working hard. Terry would do anything for anybody. He was also very loyal to his family. Terry came from an extremely tight knit family. He lost his father at a young age bringing him and his siblings together into a tight bond which still exists today. His faith and commitment to his God was strong and his wife truly felt that he was God's gift to her. He will be truly missed.
Terry was preceded in death by a sister, Effie Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debra L. Smith of Harrington; son, Aaron "Russell" Smith of Harrington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Ellen Smith of Beckley, W.Va., Don and Carol Smith of Georgetown, Bill and Beverly Smith of Little Creek, Aaron and Eileen Smith of Milton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nadine and "Butch" Vandrunen of Harbeson, Betty Prater of Long Neck, and Debra Sue Smith of Milton.
Services will be Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, in Asbury United Methodist Church, Harrington at 1 p.m. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Brown Hudson, Leona
MALONE, N.Y. - Leona Brown Hudson died peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 8, 2010. She resided at Franklin County Nursing Home, Malone, N.Y. She was 89.
She was born in Marathon, N.Y., and until recently, lived most of her life in Delaware. Leona graduated from Binghamton, N.Y., Nursing School and worked at Kent General Hospital for 27 years.
Mrs. Hudson was a wonderful mother, grandma, sister and friend. Her favorite saying was "It will all work out." She started every day by saying, "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." Leona cherished her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Hudson was a member of the Viola U.M. Church, Fruitland Grange, Kent County Links, past leader of Paradise 4-H club, and charter member of the VFW Auxiliary #6921.
In addition to her parents, Norman N. and Mildred G. Brown, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel H. Hudson Jr.; sister, Marion Robinson; daughter-in-law, Susan H. Hudson; and sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Hudson.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford W. and Judy Hudson of Harrington, Charles A. and Barbara Hudson of Chateaugay, N.Y.; daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie H. and Chuck Armstrong of Wheaton, Ill.; brothers, Thomas A. Brown of Marathon, N.Y., and Lawrence L. Brown of Marathon, N.Y.; sisters, Laura Meachill of Poulsbo, Wash., and Elinor Banks of Livingston Manor, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and spouses, David C. and Victoria Hudson of Milford, Karen H. and Michael McGee of Russellville, Ky., Robert D. Armstrong of Chicago, Ill., Daniel R. and Heather Armstrong of Wheaton, Ill., Jennifer S. Hudson of Viola, Ryan C. Hudson of Chateaugay, N.Y., and Melissa K. Hudson of Viola; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Felton-Viola U.M. Church, PO Box 247, Felton, DE 19943; or to the Delaware Alzheimer's Association.
