Born 9/26/1921 in New York City, Marie was the daughter of the late Martin J. and Marie C. Mealey. She attended New Jersey State Teachers College and graduated from the University of Delaware. She was a wonderful aunt to 23 nieces and nephews and was extremely close to all of them. They all loved her and enjoyed being with her. They respected her for her knowledge on a wide range of subjects, and her activity in many clubs and organizations. Her technical background could help them set up a new microscope and do scientific experiments or she could always be counted on to join in the fun, whether it was singing Christmas carols, playing the organ, water skiing on the lake, sledding and skiing in the snow, or just sitting with a relaxing beverage. She would surprise them when she took her "fold up bike" out of her trunk and join them on their bikes.

Marie was the "family historian" after Mom passed away and all of us were amazed with her memories of the Mealey family.

Her love was the outdoors, and she was an active member of the Wilmington Trail Club for years and enjoyed skiing and hiking. She was a member of the National Audubon Society. She was also an active member of the Irish Club of New Castle County. She is a member of St Matthew's Church in Woodcrest and a member and past Secretary of St Matthew's Women's Sodality Organization.

She was a lovable, fun loving person, who always looked at the bright side of life. We will miss her deeply. She is survived by one sister and two brothers, Martin Mealey of Arlington, Virginia, Kathryn Griffith of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Eugene Mealey of Anderson, South Carolina.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 4th at 10:30 AM at St. Matthew's Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Woodcrest where friends and family are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
