Laura May D'Alonzo

Of Milford, Delaware, passed away Wednesday, February 04, 2009 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was 96.

Mrs. D'Alonzo was born on December 7, 1912 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late William and Caroline (Downes) Zimmerman.

She was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. D'Alonzo was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Frances D'Alonzo in 2005.

She is survived by a son, Edward H. Lincoln, Sr. and his wife, Fran of Milford; four grandchildren, Debbie Andrade and her husband, Stephen of Milford; Edward H. Lincoln, Jr. and his wife, Susan of CA; Richard Lincoln and his wife, Beverly of CA and Laura Crader and her husband, Greg of CA; 9 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Milford Community Cemetery, Route 113, Milford.

Burial will follow the service there.

Bachetti, Leonard John

Leonard John Bachetti of Dover died Tuesday November 30, 2004 in Veterans Affairs Medical Hospital, Elsmere, DE. He was 84.

Mr. Bachetti was born January 11, 1920 in Newell, Pennsylvania.

He graduated from The University of Delaware with a Masters in Psychology. From 1969 to 1975 he sold cars for J.G. Smith. Mr. Bachetti was a substitute teacher for the Capital School District and Kent County Community School.

Mr. Bachetti served 27 years in the Air Force seeing combat in WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He distinguished himself by being awarded The Cheney Award. He received the Soldier's Medal with one oak leaf cluster for heroism for repeatedly entering the burning wreck of a C124 to rescue four trapped passengers. Mr. Bachetti also received The Purple Heart, the Air Force Commendation Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, The Presidential Unit Citation, the Distinguished Unit Badge, and the UN Service Medal.

He graduated among the top 10% of the Military Air Transport Service NCO Academy class. This was the first class of its kind in 1958. He was also one of the first airmen to be upgraded to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion and Walter L. Fox Post #2 in Dover. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and wrote their newsletter.

Mr. Bachetti is survived by his wife of 59 years Frances Marie Chrystaline Bachetti of Dover; 3 daughters, Gail Sellazzo and her husband Nicholas of Dover, Patricia Schneider and her husband John of New Burgh, NY, and Lenore Paradiso and her husband James of Milwaukee WI; 1 sister, Betty Piper and her husband Richard of Brownsville, PA; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 10 AM, Monday December 6, 2004 in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware. Friends may call Sunday evening from 7-9 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Alzheimer's Assoc., Delaware Chapter, 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.

Douglas J. Dagg

"Pop Pop Dagg"

Age 77, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 after a long illness.

Mr. Dagg retired in 1981 from the U.S. Army National Guard where he served from 1950. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. He also coached baseball for the Babe Ruth, Newark National Little League and for Caravel Academy. His grandson, Shane Dagg, predeceased him.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 44 years, Nancy (Shea) Dagg; his children and their spouses, Diane and David Hubner of Carroll, OH, Catherine and James Mulvaney of Wallingford, PA, Deborah and Allen Mutter of Newark, Norman "Nubbs" and Rose Dagg of Newark, Kevin and Aggie Dagg of Bear, and Joseph and Bonny Dagg of Bear. Also surviving are his sisters, Mabel DuBree of Havre de Grace, MD, and Vera Freck of Harrington, DE; sister-in-law, Helen Dagg of Hartley, DE; nephew, Wally Dudeck of Hartley, DE; and 11 grandchildren, Shanna Mutter, and fiance, Carl Foraker, Ariel Mutter, Zachary, Steven, Shawn, and Sherri Dagg, Allen, Justin, and Augusta Hubner, and Jonathan and Elizabeth Mulvaney; numerous friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 30th between 6 and 8 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. Funeral services will take place Monday morning at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Dahlen, Kirsten

Kirsten Dahlen, 38, passed away unexpectedly on December 9 at her mother's home in Hockessin. She died peacefully in her sleep. Kirsten was a marine biologist, environmental educator, author, photographer and intrepid traveler who was always seeking new adventures. Her writing echoes the many paths she walked, from the Head Hunters Trail in Malaysian Borneo to the white sands of Antigua's 365 beaches. While she called the US home, her work made it hard to predict where she actually was.

Kirsten grew up in Hockessin, Delaware graduating from Ursuline Academy and then Goucher College in Towson, Maryland. She is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Rolf J. Dahlen. Kirsten spent 15 years working with sea turtles in the Caribbean, Latin America, South East Asia and the United States. Kirsten has worked on world-renowned sea turtle nesting studies in Jumby Bay, Antigua and Little Cumberland Island, Georgia, USA. She worked with communities worldwide to develop sea turtle friendly beach practices and educational outreach programs. Kirsten also worked with industry, lending her experience in attempts to mitigate harmful effects on the marine environment. Through this work she was asked to contribute to the clean up efforts at the World Trade Center in September 2001. Her lifelong passion for the sea is shared with all in her recent works "Wrong Way Peach Fuzz: A Turtle Tale" and "Peach Fuzz: The Early Years", in addition to her photography, essay collections and blogs.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Carr Meunier Dahlen of Hockessin, her brother, Peter Rolf Dahlen of Stockholm, his wife Helene and son Sebastian. Sister, Meghan Dahlen Freeland of Hillsborough, NC, husband Tom and son Gabriel and brother, Sean Dahlen, who like his sister calls the world home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13th at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2501 Centerville Road, Wilmington, Delaware. Doors will open to visit family at 10am followed by Mass at 11:00. Burial services will be private.

Bader, Dolores A. (Kane)

Dolores A. (Kane) Bader "Sis" Age 64 of Cleland Heights, died suddenly on Friday, March 15, 2002 at the Christiana Hospital.

Sissy was a lifelong homemaker and dedicated 27 years to the J.C. Penney Company at Prices Corner, where she worked as a switchboard operator. She was a 1955 graduate of St. Elizabeth High School and a lifelong member of St. Elizabeth parish. Sis was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, and was loved by all who knew her. She was known for her generosity, good spirit and her smile.

She was the daughter of the late James F. Kane, Sr. and Agnes M. Kane. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Little Jimmy, Bill, Bob and James, Jr.; and her sister, Aggie. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Carl F. Bader, Sr.; her children, Kathleen Alfree and her husband, Jerry of New Castle, Carl F. Bader, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Bear, Thomas Bader of Wilmington, Ann Crist and her husband, Dave of Wilmington, Susan Thompson and her husband, Rich of Middletown; her brothers and sisters, Jack and Pat Kane of New Castle, Joe and Bonnie Kane of Elsmere, Kathy and Bill Krupa of Roselle, Paul and Joanne Kane of Hockessin and Tom and Linda Kane of Middletown. She was a loving Mom-Mom to her 12 grandchildren that she adored.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth R.C. Church, S. Clayton St., Wilmington on Wednesday, March 20 at 10 am. Friends may call at the Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Tuesday evening, March 19 from 6-9 pm. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Benedictine Sisters, 14259 Benedictine Lane, Ridgely, MD 21660.

D'Iorio, Teresa

Teresa D'Iorio Age 89 of north Wilmington, DE passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2003 in the Christiana Hospital.

Mrs. D'Iorio and her late husband, Anthony owned and operated Richardson's Variety Store in Claymont for many years. Mrs. D'Iorio enjoyed crocheting. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed. Her beloved husband of 65 years, Anthony, Sr., died in 2000.

Survivors include her daughter, Aline D. Lynch of Wilmington and son, Anthony D'Iorio, Jr. of Dallas, TX; 6 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, April 25th at 10 am at Holy Rosary Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE. Friends may call on the family Thursday evening, April 24th from 7-9 pm at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE. Burial will be in the All Saints Cemetery, Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Edmond's Academy, 2120 Veale Rd., Wilmington, DE 19801 or Villa Maria Academy, Lower School, 1140 King Road, Immaculata, PA 19345.

GEBHART FUNERAL HOMES of New Castle County

Dagenhart, Martha J.

Martha J. Dagenhart of Ogden, PA age 69 passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at home.

Mrs. Dagenhart had been a local restaurant owner (Walio's Frog Pond Café in Chester). She enjoyed gardening, walking, playing horseshoes and was also an animal enthusiast.

Survived by her children; William H. Dagenhart of Bear DE, Patricia Keith of Romansville PA, and Rosemarie D'Antonio of Sewell NJ, sisters Eulah Collins and Ruth Mulhbauer. Long time companion James Schoen and 8 grandchildren also survive.

Services and burial will be private.
