Mary Catherine Clark

Age 89, of Dover, DE, died Thursday November 2, 2006, in her home.

Mrs. Clark was born June 17, 1917, in Brownsville, PA, to the late Leo F. Hughes and Vera Nicholsen Hughes. Mrs. Clark retired in 1970, after 30 years from St. Francis Hospital and Delaware Division both of Wilmington, DE, as a registered nurse. She enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader, and water skiing. Mrs. Clark was an avid bridge player and enjoyed singing, playing the organ. Most of all she enjoyed being with and participating in the things her grandchildren loved to do. Mrs. Clark loved to be with family and friends for gatherings and holidays.

Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters all of Brownsville, PA. Mrs. Clark is survived by her husband of 65 years Ralph "Bill" W. Clark; 2 daughters, M. Kathleen Gordon and her husband, Donald Overton of Media, PA, Patricia Glanding Clark of Pike Creek, DE; a sister, Margaret Camino of Houston, TX; 2 grandchildren, Jeffrey Gordon and his wife, Elizabeth of Lewes, DE, Kelly Glanding Mansfield and her husband, Brent of Houston, TX; and 1 great-grandchild, Travis Bennett.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 noon Monday November 6, 2006, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE. Friends may call 10:30-11:30 am, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover, DE. Interment will be 11 am, Wednesday November 8, 2006, in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Florence E. Conner "HA"

Age 89, a life-long resident of Wilmington, DE died on November 3, 2006.

Mrs. Conner made her home at Foulk Manor North. She was a long-time parishioner of Christ Our King Church and currently Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. For many years she was very active, along with her husband, with the Christopher Columbus Monument Committee, and the Knights of Columbus of Delaware. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed decorating and entertaining.

We wish to thank the staff at Foulk Manor North as well as Delaware Hospice for their care and concern.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank C. Banks, who died in 1969; her second husband, Francis I. Conner, who died in 2003; her brother, Charles J. McClane; her sister, Elizabeth Stayton Marchegiani; and her stepson, Francis I. Conner, Jr. She is survived by her sons, William E. Banks and his wife, Es, of Seattle, WA; Frank C Banks, Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Maylene, AL; stepdaughter, Kathleen Shaw of New Castle, DE; and stepson, William Conner and his wife, Sandy, of Bear, DE. Other survivors include her niece, Sandra S. Raughley and her husband, Jack of Glen Mills, PA, who cared for her after the death of her husband; as well as several other loving nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law, Margaret McClane of Wilmington, DE. She has 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend A Mass of Christian Burial, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Rd. Wilmington. on Wednesday morning November 8, 2006 at 11 am. Interment will be in All Saints cemetery. Friends may call in the church, on Wednesday morning, from 9:30-10:45 am.

Contributions may be made in her memory to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803; or to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810.

Walther J. Cordes

Age 88 of Wilmington, DE, died after a brief illness on Thursday, November 2, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital.

Walter was born on October 20, 1918, son of the late Oswald and Katherine Cordes. He grew up and spent his early school years in Leland, MI. He then earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1942. Following his graduation, Walter joined DuPont and spent the next 43 years in a successful and rewarding engineering career. His work with DuPont brought himself and his family to Cranford, NJ, Crown Point, IN, Houston, TX and Wilmington, DE. He held various positions during his career with DuPont including Assistant Plant Manager in Houston, and Research Manager for the Agricultural Chemicals group at the Experimental Station in Wilmington. Outside of work, Walter was an active leader at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, serving on the Parish Council, and devoting many years as a Lector. He also served as a CCD instructor and participated on the Shipley Heights owner's association council. He married his wife, Nathalie F. Cordes, on September 7, 1943.

He is survived by his sister, Katherine Mitchell of Fort Myers, FL; his daughter, Nathalie F. Schiller of Oregon, IL; his sons, John W. Cordes of Crofton, MD, and Andy J. Cordes of Raleigh, NC; and his 2 grandchildren, Michael A. Cordes and Jaime A. Cordes. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nathalie; and by his brothers, Ralph Cordes, Victor Cordes, Oswald Cordes, and Jerome Cordes; and his sisters, Jane Smith, Mildred Cordes, and Rosemary Cordes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday morning, November 7, at 11:30 am, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Liftwood. Burial will be private. Friends may call at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, on Monday evening, November 6, from 5-7 pm, and on Tuesday morning at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church from 10:30-11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.

Eveylon Francine Dean

Age 78, of North East, MD, died Thursday, November 2, 2006, in the Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD.

Born in Wister, OK, on June 15, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Leonard A. and the late Zoe (Chronister) Skinner. She was the wife of the late Merrit B. Dean. Mrs. Dean was a former volunteer for the American Red Cross, and former member of the Chesapeake Bay Radio Association, and Cecil County Fair. She enjoyed fishing.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her half-sister, Gloria Edwards. She is survived by 1 daughter, Theresa Francine Cowan, of North East, MD; 3 sons, P. Eugene Dean, of Newark, DE, David Robert Dean of Elkton, MD, and James Edward Dean, of Elkton, MD; 2 sisters, Emma Hamm, of Hammond, IN, and Jean Cavalri, of Sacramento, CA; half-sister, Janie Fludd, of Gary, IN; and a half-brother, Aaron Skinner, of Gary, IN. Mrs. Dean is also survived by 15 grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at 9 am, at CROUCH FUNERAL HOME, 127 S. Main St., North East, MD, where family and friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm. Rev. James Bellin will officiate. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, Bear, DE.

Helen L. Dodson

Age 78, of Claymont, DE, went home to be with The Lord after a long illness on Monday, October 30, 2006, surrounded by her loving family, at home.

Mrs. Dodson was a registered nurse. She worked for many years at the Crozer Chester Hospital, in PA, and the Riverside Hospital in Wilmington, DE. Helen enjoyed being a homemaker. She took great pride in her home and family. In her earlier years, she enjoyed dancing.

Mrs. Dodson was the daughter of the late Walter and Mamie (Argo) Campbell. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, James Galyen, who passed away in 2001; and her sister, Leora Talley. She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert E. Dodson, who would have celebrated 53 years of marital bliss with Helen, on November 24, 2006. They were blessed with 2 daughters, Barbara A. Galyen and her husband, Gilbert, of Elkton, MD, and Sandra B. Murphy and her husband, Paul W., of Bear, DE. Other survivors include a brother, Lee Campbell and his wife, JoAnne, of Boothwyn, PA; sister, Fannie Bartsch, of Townsend, DE; granddaughter, Sandy Galyen-Spratt of Elkton, MD; and 2 great-granddaughters, Morgan and Kristin Spratt.

The funeral service will be held at 11 am, on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE, where visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:30-11 am. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, Bear, DE.

I. Jane Garner

Age 89, of Laurel, DE, formally of Hecla Park, PA passed away on November 2, 2006 at Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford, DE.

Born on November 27, 1916, in Walker Township, she is the daughter of the late William L. and Iantha E. Dietrich Clevenstine. On August 28, 1938 in State College, PA, she married William H. Garner who passed away on August 16, 2001. Jane was a 1936 graduate of Hublersburg High School. She was employed as a Loan Officer at Wilmington Trust in Laurel, DE, retiring in 1981. Jane was of the Protestant faith. She was a member of the New York Chapter of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Iantha J. Steiman and her husband,Richard of Lewes, DE; 1 son, William H. Garner, Jr. of Laurel, DE; 1 grandson, Marc A. Steiman and his wife, Barbara of Lewes, DE; and 1 great grandson, Nathaniel Garner Steiman of Lewes, DE. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers; W. Fred Clevenstine, Harold Clevenstine, Malcolm Clevenstine, Emory Clevenstine, and 1 sister, Henrietta Shreckengast.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 from 1 pm until time of services at 2 pm at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc. 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte, PA. 16823. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 2 PM at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., in Bellefonte with Rev. Douglas Elder officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park, College Township.

Martin Golden

Age 80, died November 3, 2006.

He was a graduate of Wilmington High School. After serving in the Army during WWII, he earned his degree at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. He also held an honorary doctorate of pharmacy from Arkansas Board of Pharmacy. Among his many professional, civic and religious activities are community pharmacist and owner of Golden Pharmacy in Smyrna, DE after selling the store he became the Director of the State of DE Office of Narcotics and Dangerous for 20 years, Executive Director of the DE Pharmaceutical Society, President National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, President of American Pharmaceutical Association's of Academy of General Practice and President of the DE Jaycees. Chairman and President of other varied professional groups. Elected member of Smyrna Town Council. Served as President of Congregation Beth Sholom Dover, DE. Life long member of DE Fraternal Order of Police and Citizen's Hose Company No.1 in Smyrna, DE. He was a devoted life-long fan of the New York Yankees and played the trombone in many area bands.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rita; children, Nina and Eric Johns, Chad and Teresa Golden, Jennifer Dunlap, Jacob Golden, Holly Johnson and Glenn Johnson; grandchildren, Sahara and Dublin Dunlap. He truly loved and devoted his life to his family, friends and home town of Smyrna.

A private graveside service will be in Sharon Hills cemetery. Shiva will be observed Sunday and Monday November 5th and 6th at 7 PM at 325 Lake Como Circle Smyrna. A memorial service will be 2 PM Sunday, November 19, 2006 at the Harry Levin Center for Pharmacy 27 North Main Street, Smyrna.
