Joseph D. Caputo, Jr.

Age 55, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 8, 2007, surrounded by his family.

Born in Wilmington, Mr. Caputo was the son of Joseph D. Caputo, Sr. and the late Beatrice I. (Adams) Caputo. A graduate of St. Hedwigs School & Salesianum School (Class of 1970), he earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Delaware Technical and Community College. Joseph served his country in the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant, serving in Italy and Aberdeen, MD. From 1982 to 1991, he worked at Hercules Research Center as an electrician. He also worked at Hagley Museum as a maintenance mechanic for the past 16 years and most recently served as a sexton at his church. Joe enjoyed playing racquetball, fishing, collecting coins and memorabilia.Joe was known for his quick wit and his warm and loving personality. He was well-liked and will be dearly missed.

In addition to his father Joseph, Sr., of Wilmington, Mr. Caputo is survived by his wife of 3 years, Sandra J. Caputo; his stepchildren, Kevin and Nicole Mercado; and his brother, Christopher M., of Newark.

Friends are invited to visitation on Thursday, January 11, between 6-8 pm, at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone & Milltown Rds., Wilmington. Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday morning at 11 am, at Limestone Presbyterian Church, 3201 Limestone Rd., Wilmington. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, Bear.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, Inc., 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810.

Andrew P. Marcantonio, Sr.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and coach, died January 30, 2007 in Holiday, Florida.

He was born November 7, 1919, in Wayne, PA. He graduated from West Chester University, served in the army during WWII and the Korean War, and taught at Newark High School for 32 years where he also coached football, wrestling, and golf.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores Albright Marcantonio; and 4 children, daughters, Linda M. Stanton of Newark, DE, and Susan M. Morris, of Smyrna, DE,; and sons, Andrew Jr. of Steilacoom, WA and Richard of Corpus Christi, TX. He also leaves 9 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Burial will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Bear, DE with memorial service to be held in July.

Darlene Ellen Bell

Age 51, of Wilmington, DE, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007.

Daughter of Henry T. and Bessie M. Peebles, Darlene was educated at Mary C. Williams, Wilmington HS, Delaware-Tech Community College and the University of DE. She received her bachelor's Degree from the University of DE and Associate's Degree from DE Tech Community College. She was employed at the University of DE as a Library Analyst.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Bell; her father,Henry Peebles and brother, Everett Peebles. She leaves to cherish her memory; 2 sons, Michael and Andrew Deloatch; 2 daughters, Rayna and Randi Bell; her mother, Bessie Peebles; sister, Sherry Brown; 3 brothers, Walter Woodard, Andrew Peebles and Jerome Deloatch; brother-in-law, Arthur Bell, Jr.; devoted friend, Kennett Seeney; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other family members and friends.

Viewing will be 10 am - noon, with Service at 12 noon, Tuesday, February 13, at The House of Wright Mortuary, 208 E. 35th Street, Wilmington. Interment in Riverview Gardens.

Ronald A. Bice

Age 82, of Middletown, DE, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Fairmount, WV on May 21, 1924, he was the son of the late Mary (Davis) and James E. Bice. Mr. Bice served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps during WWII. He received a Masters of Arts degree from West Virginia University and was a teacher at Middletown HS for 33 ˝ years. In 1981, he won Delaware Teacher of the Year. Throughout his career at MHS he coached basketball and football, where he also refereed and served as athletic director. He was an active member at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for over half a century. He was also a draftsman. He proudly served his community and was always willing to help those in need.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; a son, Joe; & a daughter, Mary Shannon. He is survived by his children, Michele Gillespie, Ann Gillespie and her husband, Otis, Jane Arcomone and her husband, Keith and Toby Bice and his wife, Ruthie; a brother, Glenn Bice; 14 grandchildren, Allan and his wife, Nicole, Sabrina, Matt and his fiancé, Stephanie, Brandon, Lauren, Nina, Maeghan, Shannon, Andrea, Allyson, Emily and Toby, Jr.; 5 great-grandchildren, Nate, Joey, Cali, Makenna, Matt, Jr., as well as a 6th great-grandchild, due in April.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 11 am, on Tuesday, February 13, at St. Joseph's Parish, 115 Cleaver Farm Rd., Middletown, DE. Family and friends may call 7-9 pm, Monday evening, February 12, at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE. Interment will be in Old Bohemia cemetery, Warwick, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Bice's memory to Make A Wish Foundation of Mid-Atlantic, 10920 Connecticut Ave., Kensington, MD 20895.

John S. Bishop, III, "Jay"

Of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, formerly of Wilmington, DE died on Thursday, February 8. 2007, at the V A Medical Center in Elsmere, DE.

Mr. Bishop was a 1965 graduate of John Dickinson HS and served 2 tours of duty in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam where he received the Bronze Star and was honorably discharged with the rank of captain. After his military service, Jay worked as a table games supervisor at Caesar's, Atlantic City for 24 years.

He is survived by his children, Joseph G., Michael J. and Jessica L. Bishop; and his mother and step-father, Beatrice M. and Edwin C. Gregg, all of Little Egg Harbor, NJ. Also surviving are Jay's father and step-mother, John S. Bishop, Jr. and Louise of Hockessin, DE; his brothers and their wives, Wayne R. and Barbara Bishop, of Hockessin, DE and Robert W. and Elizabeth Bishop of Stanton, DE.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, February 12, at 12:30 pm, at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Roads, where friends may call after 11 am. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to either the Viet Nam Veterans of America; or the V A Medical Center, 1601 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.

Lucy Meadows Blair

Of Hartly, DE, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 9, 2007. She was 79.

Mrs. Blair was born May 3, 1927 in Bluefield, WV to Mason and Elizabeth Queensbury Meadows. She moved to Wilmington in 1957, where she met her spouse of 50 years, Paul G. Blair. Lucy enjoyed bowling, fishing, and her dogs. She will be missed by those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Perdue; her grandson; Johnny Roberts; and her great-grandson, Johnny Ray, Jr. She leaves behind 4 children; Nancy Roberts, of Newark, DE, Sandy Stroup of New Castle, DE, Kenny Perdue and Beverly Perdue, both of WV; a granddaughter who she raised, Laura Swiney, of Magnolia, DE; 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Frank Meadows and his wife, Nancy of Hartly, DE, Clarence Meadows of WV, Shelby Bogle, of WV, and Shirley Griffit, of SC; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, at 1 pm, at TORBERT FUNERAL CHAPEL SOUTH, 1145 East Lebanon Road, Dover, DE. Visitation will be on Monday, evening from 7-9 pm at the funeral chapel.

Interment will be in Barratts Chapel cemetery, Frederica, DE.

Lorraine R. Ferguson

Lorraine R. Ferguson, age 77, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 9, 2007.

Lorraine was born in Wilmington on November 29, 1929, a daughter of the late Louis Ruggerio & Ann Greggo Ruggerio. She enjoyed a successful career for over 20 years as a fashion consultant at John Wana-maker's, where she made many good friends. Lorraine was a gifted homemaker throughout her life and greatly enjoyed cooking and crafts, including knitting, needlepoint and ceramics. Most of all, she delighted in spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Ferguson and his wife, Terri, of Wilmington; daughter, Deborah Conkling and her husband, James, of Chesapeake City, MD; 4 grandchildren, Alie, Jenna, Morgan and Sara; a brother, Nicholas Ruggerio of Wilmington; and 3 sisters, JoAnn Tidwell of Wilmington; Evelyn Tidwell of Middletown; and Rose Cammock of Odessa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM on Monday, February 12, 2007, at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, Ninth & DuPont Streets, Wilmington. Entombment in All Saints cemetery.

David J. Martin "Beech"

Age 50, surrounded by his family, died peacefully at home, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, February 10, 2007.

Dave was a member of Local 435 of the United Auto Workers. He was employed by General Motors for the past 28 ˝ years. Beech was a U. S. Navy veteran and served 4 years aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Independence. Dave was very proud of being raised in the "40 Acres". He had a great devotion to family and many loyal friends. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Notre Dame football fan.

David is preceded in death by his father, Edward F. Martin. He is survived by his wife, Renee Martin; his sons, Sean, Brian and Timmy; his mother, Eleanor C. (Martin) Campbell; his brother, Michael and his wife, Liz; his sister, Anne Marie Katrowski, and her husband, Tony, Sr.; and his sister, Mary Beth Ledoschuk and her husband, Doug, all of Wilmington, DE; his brother, Jim and his wife, Joan, of Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Elsmere, on Tuesday morning, February 13, at 11 am. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening, February 12, from 5-7 pm. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery.

Barbara A. Morford

Age 52, passed into the loving arms of the Lord on February 5, 2007. Barbara was a longtime resident of the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna, DE.

Barbara is the daughter of the late John Morford and Stella (Kowalczyk) Morford.

A visitation will be held in the chapel of the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, 100 Sunnyside Rd., Smyrna, DE 19977 on Wednesday, February 14, from 10-11 am, followed by a service at 11 am. Burial will be in All Saints cemetery, Wilm., DE.
