Nancy Hawkins Ferguson
Nancy Hawkins Ferguson, age 82, of Glen Ridge, NJ, passed away on Friday June 8, 2007 in Newark, DE.
Mrs. Ferguson lived in Glen Ridge, NJ for 70 years. She was a buyer for the ITT Communications Company. She enjoyed spending her summers in West Point Island, Lavalette, NJ. She enjoyed gardening, antiques, reading, knitting, and baking. Mrs. Ferguson was also very involved with her church, The Glen Ridge Congregational Church.
Mrs. Ferguson is predeceased by her husband, Robert M. Ferguson. She is survived by her son, Robert Blair Ferguson, of Wilmington, DE; a brother, Ralph W. Hawkins, Jr., of Lavalette, NJ; a nephew, Scott A. Hawkins; and 3 nieces, Leigh Ann Hawkins, Susan Noonan, and Kimberly Keale.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, at 3 PM, at the Glen Ridge Congregational Church, 195 Ridgewood Avenue, Glen Ridge, NJ.

Kevin D. Harris, Sr.
On Thursday, June 7, 2007, Kevin D. Harris, Sr. went home peacefully to be with the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Waples and his sister, Debbie Harris. He is survived by his father, Thomas Harris; his children, Mark, Vincent, Kevin Harris, Jr., Khia and Kourtney Bostick; 6 sisters, 1 brother; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; a great-aunt; and a host of other family and friends.
Services will be held at Bethel AME Church, 6th and Walnut Sts., Wilmington on Wednesday, June 13 at 11 am, viewing, 9-11 am. Interment, DE Veterans cemetery.

Sarah R. Johnson
Age 84, of Milton, DE, passed away Friday , June 8, 2007 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes , DE.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Milton, DE, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Emma (Smith) Reed. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved cats and was an avid Phillies fan. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Zion UM Church. She worked as a secretary for Dulany Foods of Milton for several years.
She is survived by her husband, Elwood " Woody" Johnson; children, Mary Catherine Hopkins, and her husband, John "Jack " Hudson, of Milton, DE, Kim Hutcheson, and her husband, Gary, of Ordinary, VA, and Bill Johnson, and his wife, Karen, of Milton, DE; 2 grandchildren, Johnny A. Hopkins, III, and his wife, Dawn, and Jessi Johnson; 2 great grandchildren, Justin Hopkins and Izaak Hopkins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13, at 1 pm, in the chapel of SHORT FUNERAL SERVICES INC., 416 Federal Street, Milton, DE, where friends may call Tuesday, June 12, from 7-9 pm. Interment will be in Zion UM cemetery.

Warren G. Johnson
Of Newark, DE, born January 11, 1930, passed away June 5, 2007.
He retired from the veterinary division of Merck & Company in sales and marketing. He was active in the University of Delaware's Academy of Lifelong Learning as a student and instructor. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Elkton, MD, for whom he served as a Eucharistic Minister at Union Hospital, Elkton.
He is survived by Helene McWilliams Johnson, whom he married
in October, 1955. Also surviving are children, Ann Walker, Mary Coyle, Chad Johnson, Julie Sussman, and Amy Marney; and 13 grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 am, Friday, June 15, 2007 at St. Thomas More Oratory, 45 Lovett Ave., Newark, DE.

Thomas M. Murphy
Age 87 and a lifelong resident of Carneys Point, NJ, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Christiana Hospital.
He was born February 12, 1920 in Carneys Point to Michael and Eva Murphy. Tom Murphy retired from DuPont Chambers Works Mechanical Engineering Department with 43 years of service. He was a member of the DuPont Veterans, the Service men's Memorial Home of Carneys Point, and was an active member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church of Carneys Point. He will be long remembered for his love of life, athletic abilities, gift of fixing anything, passion for gardening, and most of all, helping his family, neighbors and friends.
Mr. Murphy is survived by Mary Agnes Murphy, his loving wife of 63 years; and 5 children, Joan Thayer, and her husband, Chip, of Wilmington, DE, James Murphy, and his wife, Judy, of Carneys Point, NJ, Joel Murphy, and his wife, Anne, of Pennsville, NJ, Mark Murphy, and his wife, Lori, of Carneys Point, NJ, and John Murphy, his wife, Lolly, of Carneys Point, NJ; as well as 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received Thursday, June 14, from 9-10:45 AM, at the Corpus Christi RC Church, 369 Georgetown Road, Carneys Point, NJ, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Interment will be at Lawnside cemetery, Pilesgrove, NJ.

John J. Pappa
Age 85, loving son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2007, at home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.
He grew up in Wilmington and served in World War II as a Navy gunner. He survived the sinking of 2 ships. He was a master pipe fitter and member of Local 74. In 1984, he retired as the Delaware region foreman for Johnson Controls. In retirement, he enjoyed reading, golfing, and fishing with his family and friends on the Chesapeake Bay.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann P. Reader, in 1954; and survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlotte A. Pappa; and 11 children and their spouses, Kathleen and Horace Scherer, Geraldine and Harold Douglas, Ann and John Griffith, Helena and John Bradley, John and Susan Pappa, Robert and Patricia Pappa, Mary and Gary Opromolla, Daniel and Karen Pappa, Renee Pappa, Charles and Charlene Pappa, and Charlotte and Richard Horgan; 27 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and his sisters, Margaret Seal, Frances Pappa, Jeanne Marsilli, and Mary Sapp. He was predeceased by his brothers, Daniel Pappa and Charles Pappa.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June 14, at 9:30 am, at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, Bear, DE. Friends may call at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, on Wednesday, June 13, from 6-8 pm.

Ceslava W. Sawczuk (Tessie)
Age 82, the daughter of the late Alexander and Anastansia (Dobies) Jaros, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2007, in the Christiana Hospital, with her loving and caring family by her side.
Tessie was a member of St. Hedwig Church. She loved bingo, listening to polka music, crocheting, doing puzzles and going to Delaware Park. Above all, she enjoyed the surrounding love of her family. In her younger days, she was a seamstress for the Ped Company.
She is survived by 3 sons, Frank P. Jr., Joseph J., and David T.; a daughter, Marsha Facciolo and her husband, Samuel; grandchildren, Stephanie Cruz, Francis Sawczuk III, Reinice Acevedo and Lorie Facciolo; great grandchildren, Ava and Mia Cruz, and Evalyse and Amya Acevedo, and David Frost III. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Frank in 2003 and her son, Paul; also by her brothers Stanley and Joseph Joros; and a sister, Mary Sawczuk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 in St. Hedwig Church, Linden and S. Harrison Sts., Wilmington, DE. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veteran's Memorial cemetery, Bear, DE. Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, June 13, at 9 am at the John F. Yasik Funeral Home, 607 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, DE.

Age 94, of Newark, DE, formerly of Maryland, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Christiana Hospital.
Helen was born in Jenny Lind, AR to the late James and Betty Franklin. She was a member of College Park United Methodist Church in Maryland.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Gloria Sheyka Tyson, and husband, Lee, of Newark; 2 grandchildren, Jonathan Tyson and Tracey Segal; and great granddaughter, Bronwyn Segal.
Services will be private, at the convenience of the family.
