James Alton Timmons
Mr. James Alton Timmons, age 81, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 11, 2007, after a short illness.
Jim was the most proud of his service to his country during WWII. He served in the US Army infantry under General George Patton during the Battle of the Bulge, where he earned a Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Raised in Ellendale, DE, he graduated from Milford High School in 1944. Following his military service, he attended the University of Delaware and graduated from Wesley College. Employed as an electrical engineer, he retired from the former Amoco Chemical in New Castle in 1981. He continued consulting until 1990 with various companies. Jim was a longtime member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Additionally, he was a member of J. Allison O'Daniel Post #475 VFW in Newark, where he was active in the post's honor guard. For many years, he bowled with the Newark Senior Bowling League. Throughout his life, Jim pursued his hobby, model railroading.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carol; his daughters, Sharon Dombroski and her husband, Joe, of Middletown, DE; and Randi Lucas and her husband, Scott, of Landenberg, PA; and his beloved grandchildren, Taylor, Timmy, Dylan, Claire, and Owen.
Friends may call 6-8 pm on Monday, October 15, 2007, at the SPICER-MULLIKIN FUNERAL HOME, 121 W. Park Place, Newark. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 200 Marrows Road, Newark. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

Charles F. Walker
Age 75, of Middletown, DE, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, October 10, 2007.
Charles was born in Wilmington to the late Frank Jacob Walker and Anna Irene Corlett Walker. Charles worked for Nabisco for 36 years before retiring in 1988. He then drove a school bus for the Christiana School District. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles and VFW. He enjoyed U of D football, fishing, shuffle board, and was an avid bowler.
He is preceded in death by his son, Charles F. Walker, Jr., and a sister, Betty Ann Raymont. Charles is survived by his wife, Mary Hahn-Walker; son, David J. Walker of Wilmington, DE; 5 daughters, Edna Mariani of Wilmington, DE, Anna Wilkins of Smyrna, DE, Denise Roberts of Wilmington, DE, Virginia Walker of Newark, DE, and Vicky Brown of Ridley Twp, PA; 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing in celebration of Charles' life from 6-8 pm Monday, October 15, 2007 and again from 9-10 am Tuesday, October 16 at Beeson Funeral Home of Newark, 2053 Pulaski Highway (Fox Run). His Funeral Service will follow on Tuesday at 10 am at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

Donald G. Woodruff
Donald G. Woodruff, 71, of Newark, DE passed away October 11, 2007 at his home after a brief illness.
He was born in New Jersey on May 3, 1936. He worked as an inspector at Chrysler Corp for 32 years, retiring in 1996 and was known by his fellow employees as Shorty. Shorty was a member of UAW Local 1183. He enjoyed John Wayne movies and playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter Donna Cummins and her husband, Jason of Newark, DE; 2 grandchildren, Bjorn and Hunter; his 5 brothers, Richard Woodruff and his wife, Barbara of Fort Meyers, FL as well as Stanley, David, Robert and Tommy Woodruff; and 2 sisters, Doris and Joan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Sweetman Woodruff and his sister Linda.

A funeral service will be held at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711 on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 2 pm. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Monday October 15 from 7-9 pm. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery, Newark, DE.

Age 56, of Landenberg, PA, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2007. He is survived by his daughter, Veronica L. Bird, his parents, sisters, brothers and loving family. Services are private. Arr. Mealey Funeral Homes.
Alfred John Breslin
Mr. Alfred John Breslin, age 83, of Newark, DE, formerly of South Orange, Livingston, Morristown and Forked River, NJ, died on Friday, October 12, 2007.
Mr. Breslin was born in South Orange, NJ on August 27, 1924, son of the late John A. Breslin and Frieda Muller Breslin. After earning his bachelor's degree in engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, he proudly served his country in the US Navy at the close of WWII. A gifted engineer throughout his career and a pioneer in radon research, he retired from the Atomic Energy Commission in New York City in 1979 as a health physicist. Mr. Breslin greatly enjoyed boating and spent many happy hours aboard his trawler, "Killybegs." A talented jazz musician as well, he played both piano and drums from his youth. He also looked forward to daily crossword puzzles and his "4'clock Manhattan." Mr. Breslin will be remembered most of all as a devoted family man, who delighted in spending time with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren, especially during annual family vacations.
His wife, Joyce L. Deutcsh Breslin, died on January 20th of this year. He is survived by their 5 children, Dr. Nancy Breslin and her husband, Peter Caws, of Newark, DE; Steven Breslin and his wife, Mary, of Bethesda, MD; Kathleen Breslin and her husband, John Nachtigal, of Chatham, NJ; David Breslin and his wife, Catherine Solko, of Fairfax, VA; and Paul Breslin of Seattle, WA; and 7 grandchildren.
Friends may call 4-6 pm on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at the Spicer Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. A committal service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at St. Mary's Cemetery, 283 Beachview Avenue, Manahawkin (Stafford Township), NJ.

Richard E. Cordrey
Age 62, of Laurel, DE, passed away at Lifecare at Lofland Park in Seaford, DE on October 13, 2007.
Born in Laurel he was the son of the late Isaac E. Cordrey and Maude Mitchell Cordrey. Richard retired from the former EI Dupont Company in Seaford. Many years ago he loved playing softball and to rabbit hunt.
He is survived by his brothers, James F. Cordrey, I. Melvin Cordrey and his sisters, Mary Farrelly and Peggy Ralph all of Laurel. He is survived by 2 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in deathy by 2 sisters, Grace Ellen Holloway and Louise V. McGee.
A graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Laurel, DE on Tuesday, October 16, at 11 am. Th Rev. Ronald Tice will officiate.

Kristi L. Vannicola
Kristi Leigh Vannicola went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 14, 2007.
Kristi was born in Wilmington on February 29, 1988. Beautiful and compassionate, Kristi left an indelible mark on all those fortunate to have known her. She possessed an unconditional willingness to help others, touching many lives with her enormously kind heart and spirit. Intelligent and blessed with many talents, Kristi was a passionate and gifted poet and artist. She also had a great love for nature.
Kristi is survived by her mother, Carol (Camoirano) Vannicola; grandfather, Ernest Camoirano; aunts and uncles, Sandy Thackston and her husband, Craig, David Camoirano and his wife, Melissa, and Christine Camoirano; cousins, D.J., Skye, Siena, Lyndsey, Kimberly, and Krista; brother, Nick Vannicola; and the special individuals that touched Kristi's life, as well as the countless individuals on whom she had an unforgettable impact. She was predeceased by her grandmother, and inspiration, Alberta Camoirano, whom she deeply cherished; and her great-grandmother, Victorine Camoirano.
A Memorial Service will be held at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave. (opp. Cathedral Cemetery), on Friday evening, October 19, at 8 pm. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening, prior to service, from 6-8 pm.

Mildred J. Aldridge
Age 88, of Wesley Chapel, FL, formerly of Newark, DE, passed away October 15, 2007.
She was born September 8, 1919 in Toronto, CN, the daughter of Phillip and May Davis. Mildred was a long time employee of the University of Delaware where she worked at the library. She was a devoted mother and raised her children while her husband of 43 years, Robert, served in the US Navy. They both enjoyed playing scrabble and their word battles often went well into night. After retiring from the University and the death of her husband Robert, she relocated to Wesley Chapel, FL to be close to her daughter, Pamela.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Robert Jr.; daughter, Patricia and granddaughter, Jamie Comegys. She is survived by her loving family including her sister, Dorothy Doerr of Richmond, VA; her son, Kenneth and wife Suzanne of Raleigh, NC; and her daughter, Pamela and husband Lee Comegys of Tampa, FL; 5 grandchildren, Kristine Fohring and husband Stephen of Swedesboro, NJ and Kelly Frangakis and husband George of Vineland, NJ, Michele and husband Ben DeFoe of Raleigh, NC, Kenny Aldridge of Raleigh, NC and Jennifer Comegys of Tampa, FL; and 2 great-grandchildren, Avery and Keira Fohring of Swedesboro, NJ.
A Graveside Service to honor Mildred will be held at 11 am, on October 27, at Gracelawn Memorial Cemetery in New Castle, DE.
