Rebecca Jane Benge
Age 56, of Wilmington, DE, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2006, after a heroic fight with cancer.
Rebecca was born in Wilmington in 1950, and attended Brandywine High School before receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree from Hood College in Frederick, MD. Following her graduation from Hood College, Rebecca earned a Master of Arts degree in History from Georgetown University. After she completed graduate school, she went to work for the U.S. News and World Report for a year before taking a job with the Government Research Corporation, in 1975. Then in 1978, Rebecca went to work for the Ford Motor Company as a policy analyst. She then moved to Northern VA, and took a job with the Evaluation Research Corporation, in 1980. Rebecca remained employed in Northern VA for the next 20 years while raising her 3 children. In 2002, Rebecca moved back to Wilmington and enrolled at the University of Delaware to pursue a Masters degree in Historical Architecture. She worked toward her degree throughout the course of her illness, and in 2006, she was awarded a Master of Arts degree from the University of Delaware. Aside from raising her 3 children and working full time, Rebecca was a member of the University Club in Washington, DC, and was an active participant with the Capital Speakers Club. After she moved back to Wilmington, Rebecca became active with the Historical Society of Delaware and Preservation Delaware. Rebecca enjoyed photography and the outdoors, but her true passion was her family.
She is survived by her 3 sons, Lt. Justin Trenta, Michael Trenta, a senior at Hampden-Sydney College in VA, and John Trenta, a senior at Wilmington Friends School. She is also survived by her father, Dr. John H. Benge; her sister, Barbara Kehoe; her brothers, John H. Benge, Jr., James Benge, Malcolm Benge, and Dr. Bruce Benge. Rebecca is preceded by her mother, Alice Benge; and her sister, Margaret Johnson.
Friends and family are invited to call at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, on Friday, November 17, 2006, from 6-9 pm. A funeral service will be on Saturday, November 18, 2006, at 11 am, at Christ Church Christiana Hundred, off of Buck Road in Greenville; with interment following in New London Presbyterian Cemetery.

Kimberly Estella (Mitchell) Kogon
Kim Kogon, 44, of Newark, DE, died Tuesday, September 11, 2007.
Kim was born January 6, 1963 in Wilmington, youngest child of James G. and M. Janet Mitchell, and was a lifelong resident of Delaware. She graduated from Dickinson HS in 1981, the University of Delaware in 1985, and Del Tech in 1991 (Physical Therapy Assistant). From 1999-2006 Kim was the law librarian at Connolly Bove Lodge & Hutz. She had renewed her PT certification in June 2006. Kim had an outstanding running career, beginning at Stanton Jr. High and continuing at Dickinson and UD. In 1980, while still in high school, Kim ran the Marine Corps Marathon (Washington, DC) for the first time. While attending UD, Kim ran both track and cross-country, and was the #1 runner her senior year, qualifying for Division I Nationals. Over the years, Kim ran and excelled in many races, and continues to hold Delaware road race records for her age group in many distances. Kim was an avid reader, a creative writer and poet, and participated in the Delaware Writing Project in Cape Henlopen in 2005. She was invited back for the 2006 program.
Kim is survived by sons Aaron, Seth, and Sam Kogon; father, James G. Mitchell; sisters, Susan Moqtaderi (Reza) and Carol McGirr; brother, James H. Mitchell; nieces, Nedda Moqtaderi (Ian Henry) and Amy McGirr; nephews, Jack Treml (Laura), Mehron and Cyrus Moqtaderi, Matthew McGirr (Nadia), Kevin McGirr, Andrew and Alex Mitchell; grandnephew, Harry Treml; and sister-in-law, Deborah Mitchell. Kim was predeceased by her mother, Janet Mitchell in 1998 and sister, Catherine Treml in 1990.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Churchman Village and Delaware Hospice.
Friends may visit on Thursday evening, September 13, from 6-8 pm, at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, where a service will follow at 8 pm. A private burial will take place in Lisbon, CT.

William Clyde Conaway
Mr. William Clyde "Bill" Conaway, age 90, of New Castle, DE, died on Thursday, October 11, 2007, at Christiana Hospital.
Mr. Conaway was born in Philadelphia, PA, on September 12, 1917, a son of the late Marie and William Conaway. A US Army veteran of WWII, he proudly served his country in the European Theater and fought in the famous Battle of the Bulge. In civilian life, he was a professional firefighter for 24 years, retiring in 1968 as a captain in the Wilmington Fire Department. Mr. Conaway was active in his community in the New Castle Moose Lodge, the Nor-Del Model Railroad Club, and Parents Without Partners. He was also an avid coin collector.
His wife, Lucille V. Matthews Conaway, died in 1981. He was also preceded in death by his companion, Roberta V. "Bobby" Puican, in February of this year. He is survived by his daughter, Carole M. Conaway of Gulfport, FL; his brother, Clifford Conaway of Wisconsin; and Roberta's children, John E. Puican III and wife, Joanne, of Landenberg, PA; Richard Lee Puican and wife, Edith, of Newark, DE; and Beverly Jean Harrington and husband, Stormy, of Ocean City, MD.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, October 15, 2007, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call after after 10 am.

Rosalie E. (Brohawn) Hill
Rosalie E. (Brohawn) Hill, age 91, of Lewes, DE, died Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at her granddaughter's home in Millsboro, DE.
Mrs. Hill was born in Cambridge, MD, daughter of the late Leroy, Sr. and Minnie Belle (Willey) Brohawn. She had formerly lived in New Castle, DE, and moved to Sussex County 30 years ago. She was a homemaker all of her life and was a wonderful Mother. Mrs. Hill's life was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Midway Assembly of God Church, Lewes, DE.
Mrs. Hill is survived by a daughter, Betsy (Hill) Bailey of Lewes, DE; son-in-Law, Edward W. Lynam, Jr. of Clarksville, DE; a brother, Harold Brohawn of Rehoboth Beach, DE; a granddaughter, Ashley Crispin of Lewes, DE; 3 great grandchildren, Corrine Crispin and Gabe and Cameron Bailey; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edgar Layton Hill in April 2004, to whom she had been married 72 years; a daughter Patricia Ann (Hill) Lynam in November 2005; 2 sisters, Dorothy Naylor and Mildred Harrison; and 2 brothers, Wallace Brohawn, Sr, and Leroy Brohawn, Jr.
A Memorial Service will be held at PARSELL FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORIUM, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE at 11 am Tuesday, October 16, 2007 with Pastor Gary Ross officiating. Interment will be private.

Nolan Francis Hutson
Age 69, of Felton, DE, died Friday, October 12, 2007 at home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 16, at 12 Noon in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main St., Felton, where visitation is Monday from 7-9 pm.
Vincent (Vinnie) Schulte
Vincent (Vinnie) Schulte gave his daughters the greatest gift that a parent can bestow upon a child, the certain knowledge that he loved them completely, unconditionally, and without reservation every moment of their lives. Despite several years battle with Alzheimer's disease, he was able to demonstrate his love to his immediate family until he died at peace and with faith in his sleep at age 87 on October 10, 2007.
Vinnie Schulte was a graduate of Dover High School in Dover, NJ. He extended his education through correspondence schools and through courses at Rutgers and Penn State University. As a licensed surveyor, he was an original employee of Levitt & Sons and helped to build Levittown in the early 1950's. He retired from Lippincott Engineering Associates of Riverside, NJ. A combat veteran of WWII, Vincent Schulte proudly served his country as a first sergeant in the United States Marine Corps with the First Marine Division in the Pacific theater.
He was preceded in death in 1984 by his wife, Gertrude Trevena Schulte, the mother of his children. He is survived by 2 daughters, Leiane Schulte of Wilmington, DE and Lynn Schulte Shreve and her husband, Dana Shreve of Newark, DE; and by wife, Elizabeth Derr Schulte; her 3 children, and their families. He is also survived by Mary Schulte Brickner and Loretta Schulte Sorentino, 2 of his 9 siblings and by more than 40 nieces and nephews.
The family is thankful for the support of long time friends and neighbors, and is particularly grateful to Jim Krupa for his loving devotion and attention during Vinnie's later years and to Ed Jones for supporting and helping Leiane as she managed her father's health needs. The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent individualized medical care and compassion provided by doctors Kane, Rossman, Rajagopalan and Perlstein and their staffs as well as the services provided by the doctors, nurses, and hospice workers at Frankford Hospital and Langhorne Gardens.
Family and friends are invited to Vinnie's Life Celebration, Sunday, October 14, 2007 from 6-8 pm at Beck/Givnish of Lower Bucks, 7400 New Falls Rd., Levittown, PA and to participate in his Funeral Mass, Monday, October 15, 2007 at 10 am from St. Michael the Archangel Church, Levittown Parkway and Route 13, Levittown, PA 19054. Interment Emilie Methodist Cemetery.

William Joseph Tigani, Sr.
Age 85, passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2007.
He was the oldest of 4 sons of the late Joseph and Frances Tigani of Blue Rock Manor in Wilmington. He graduated from Archmere Academy. During WWII, he helped rehabilitate soldiers who had lost their eyesight in combat at Valley Forge Hospital in Philadelphia. Bill was a gifted artist in many arenas. In the early 1940's, he had a singing/recording career with different bands, including the Buddy Williams Orchestra. He sang under the name "Billy Daye." He was one of the first finish line photographers at Delaware Park, and was also a photographer for Baltimore sports teams, including the 1969 Baltimore Orioles. He held a Delaware residential real estate license for over 50 years working for his own brokerage, Jacque Jacobs, Sachs and Weichert Realtors. Bill was a talented artist using oils and watercolors, but is best known for his annual pen and ink drawings, which were mailed out as a holiday greeting by Weichert. Bill was a perfectionist in the garden, and spent many hours creating beautiful landscapes with his wife.
Bill, a loving husband, father and grandfather, is survived by his dedicated wife, Mona of 35 years of Wilmington, DE; a son, William Tigani, II of Middletown, DE and his wife, Wendy; 2 daughters, Diane Glen of Aston, PA and Cheryl Clark of Wilmington, DE; and several grandchildren, Amanda, Joe, Jamie, Samantha, Emily, Becky and Nicky. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Jack Tigani and Robert Tigani, both of Wilmington, DE. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Tigani; his first wife, Jane Semple and son, Michael Robert Tigani.
