Reneé Louise (Adlesic) Brandt

Reneé Louise (Adlesic) Brandt, age 54, of Pike Creek DE, went home to be with the Lord March 24, 2006.

She was born November 27, 1951 in Akron, OH to Raymond S. and Leona M. Adlesic. She was a graduate of McKean High School. After graduation, she was employed by Verizon and quickly advanced into management. She was also a faithful member of Immanuel Church in Wilmington, DE. Reneé was a loving mother who was dedicated to her family and she will be greatly missed.

Reneé is survived by 2 precious daughters, Ryan Reneé Brandt, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Amie Marie Brandt, of Newark, DE. She is also survived by her parents, Raymond and Leona Adlesic, of Hockessin; 3 brothers, Ronald Adlesic, and his wife, Rose, of Landenberg, PA, Richard Adlesic, and his wife, Tara, of Ellicott City, MD, and Rudy Adlesic, and his wife, Dana, of Wilmington; 4 nieces, Randi, Robin, and Ronda and Emma Adlesic; and 1 nephew, Ethan Adlesic.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the viewing from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, March 29, in the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Highway at Duncan Rd. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday March 30, at Immanuel Church, 2414 Pennsylvania Ave. Wilmington, DE 19806. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Immanuel Church; or to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.

Glen D. Allison, Sr. "Kingfish"

Age 92, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on September 21, 2008.

Son of the late Pearl Lee and Will Henry Allison. Predeceased by wife Anna Mae Allison of 64 years. He leaves to cherish his memories his 3 children; Glen (Stinker) Allison, Jr., Shirlee (Dolly) Allison and David Allsion; 1 devoted daughter-in-law, Gloria Allison all of Wilmington, DE; 4 sisters, Emily L. Millier of Balt., MD, Catherine Brown, of Phila., PA, Johnsie Allison and Fleda Burris of Clover, SC; 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 7 great-great children; devoted friend of the family, Billy Norwood and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Funeral services to be held Friday, September 26, 2008, 11 am at Pentecosal Church of the Living God, 500 E. 12th St. Wilm., DE. Viewing 9-11 am. Interment, Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.

Alvin L. Boardley, Sr.

Of Wilmington, DE died September 21, 2008 at Hearland Hospice House. Memorial service, 11 am, September 27, at Mt. Joy U.M. Church, 455 Townsend St., Wilm, DE. No visitation. Interment, private. Arr: BELL FUNERAL HOME.

Rose M. Boulware

Age 56, of Smyrna, DE, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, September 23, 2008.

Born in Wilmington, DE, Rose was the daughter of the Jacob and Irene (Romanowski) Gross. She worked as a licensed practical nurse. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, William, Paul and James Gross.

She is survived by her sons, William and his wife, Allison, and Kevin, all of Wilmington; 3 grandchildren, Madeline, Lilliana and Riley; and 3 sisters, Cecelia Bryson, Joyce Moyer, and Bernadette Milbourne.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, at 11 am at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington, where friends are invited to visitation after 10 am. Interment will be private.

Ronald W. Butswinkas

Age 66, of New Castle, DE, formerly of Frackville, PA, died Saturday morning at the Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia.

Born in Butler Township he was a son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Luzusky) Butswinkas. He was a graduate of Frackville High School and Penn State University. He worked as a Logistics System Analyst on the V22 Osprey Tilt Rotor Aircraft in the Engineering Dept. of Boeing Helicopter Co., Ridley Park, PA. A U.S. Navy Veteran he served during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Astugi, Japan. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and the American Legion, Joseph B. Stall, Post #30, both of New Castle, DE, New Castle, DE.

Ronald is survived by a son, Kevin Butswinkas, New Castle, DE; a daughter, Lori Naidich, Long Branch, NJ; 2 sisters, Rose Marie Grubb, Frackville; Judy Zimmerman, Hershey, PA; 2 brothers, Richard Butswinkas, Frackville and Joseph Butswinkas, Virginia Beach, VA; 2 granddaughters; several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 am, in the Annunciation BVM Catholic Church, Frackville with the Rev. Edward Essig officiating. Relatives and Friends may call Saturday morning from 8-10 am, at the ALBERT L. GRICOSKI FUNERAL HOME, Frackville. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Locally a memorial service will announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ronald's name to the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease at www.aasld.org; or American Liver Foundation at www.liverfoundation.org.

Myrtis E. Adkins

Age 88, of Selbyville, DE died September 19, 2008 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Funeral, 2 pm, Friday, September 26 at Holy Trinity Church, Selbyville; viewing 2 hours prior. Arr. by Harris-Nock Funeral Services.

Alvin LaMar Boardley "Bumps"

Of Wilmington, DE, died September 21, 2008.

Alvin LaMar Boardley was born April 15, 1932 in Wilmington, DE to Alvin C. and Grace V. Boardley. He graduated Howard High School where he was a member of the marching band. He graduated from Maryland State College in 1954 where he was a member of the ROTC and Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. He married Barbara J. Winters in 1956. This union was blessed with 3 children; Alvin LaMar, Jr. (Brenda) Sicily Grace (Brandon) Bordrick and Crystal Marie (Anthony) Clark; his beloved grandchildren are; Shany-e, Shanise, Shatera, Travis, Caleb, Brandon, Jamal, Sicily, Maya and Aurelius. Mr. Boardley was a good and faithful member of Mt. Joy United Methodist Church from early childhood until his passing. He was a respected member of the Wilmington community. He gained respect from working over sixty years. He applied his skills and talents into multiple areas. He worked as Deputy Recorder of Deeds for New Castle for almost 40 years and worked at the Brandywine Race Track. His entrepreneurial opportunities included a packaged store and several real estate investments. His community and social service consisted of being an active member of the Delaware Republican Party and a lifetime member of the NAACP. Mr. Boardley sponsored various sports teams and was benevolent to those in need.

He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, 3 children, 10 grandchildren, a loving mother, sister, Grace V. Burris, brother-in-laws, Larry Burris and Frank D. Cook, many nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and family friends. He was preceded in death by his father and 2 sisters, Jane L. Russell and Arlene G. Cooke.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, at 11 am, Mt. Joy UM Church, 455 Townsend Street, Wilm., DE. Interment will be private.

Roger Lee Bond, Sr.

Roger Lee Bond, Sr. passed away September 15, 2008, on his 62nd birthday.

He was a loving husband and a wonderful father who also loved to spend quality time with his grandchildren. He was a dad who instilled a "can always do" attitude within his children and wasn't afraid to let them grow. His genuine, good natured wisdom was sought by everyone who knew him and his example will continue to guide his family for generations to follow. He was born in London OH to Rose and Cecil Bond. He was a Navy Seal during the Vietnam War during which time he was awarded a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He moved to Delaware after his release from the service. He retired from Shell Oil Delaware City Refinery after 35 years of service as an API Fixed Equipment Inspector. After his retirement, he moved to Punta Gorda, FL.

He is survived by his wife, Caren; his son, Roger Jr. and his wife Angie and their son Collin of Portland, OR; his daughter, Kathy Manning and her husband Jim and their daughter Amber of Middletown, DE; his son, Chris and his wife Anna and their children, Christopher and Morgan of Newark, DE; and his step-daughter, Shayna Stidham of Bear, DE. He is also survived by his father, Cecil; brothers, Bill (Alice) of Middletown, DE and Leonard, of Largo, FL; sisters, Susan (Mike) Chadwick of Ocean View, DE, Terry Bond of Ridgely, MD and Kaye (Greg) DuVan of Sedona, AR. He is also survived by his former wife, Donna Bond of Middletown. His mother preceded him in death.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at 4 pm on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Beeson Funeral Home of Newark. Interment private. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 992 Tamiami Trail, Unit C-2, Port Charlotte FL 33953.

Kelly Dunn, Jr.

Of Dover, DE, age 70, died Tuesday, November 06, 2007 , in his home. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 9, 1 pm, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Friends may call 2 hours prior.

Christopher Evans

Christopher Evans, age 45, of Wilmington, DE, died on September 9, 2007 in Medford, OR.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary; her mother, Joan; and her sister, Robyn; his father, Elwyn Evans, Jr.; his sister, Carol Lloyd Bove and his brothers, Gregory John Evans, Elwyn Evans, III and Tilghman Boyd Evans.

A graveside service will be held in the Lower Brandywine Cemetery, 117 Old Kennett Pike, Wilmington, DE on Saturday November 10, 2007 at 11 am.

Francis M. Fitzgerald

passed away on November 4, 2007 at Christiana Hospital at the age of 75.

He retired from the News Journal after 39 years of service. He served in the Army where he was MP Guard at the Big Four Ministries Conference in Berlin, which included escorting visiting dignitaries. He was chosen for special assignments by the Army because of his neatness, physical appearance and over all soldierly bearing. A graduate of Brown Vocational School he was recognized as an All State Basketball player for his outstanding athletic ability.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Elizabeth (Donlon) Fitzgerald; 3 brothers, John, Robert and James; 2 sisters, Margaret Ruh and Elizabeth Baker. He is survived by 1 sister and caretaker Dorothy Fitzgerald Browning. Among his caretakers include his nieces, Margaret Snyder and Gerry Wiseman, and nephew, Robert Browning. Francis also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Christiana Care Hospital Emergency Room, MICU, and 5C for the excellent care and compassion shown during his recent stay.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Thursday, November 8, at 11 am. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10-11 am, Thursday morning. Entombment in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
