May, Patricia Galloway
Patricia Galloway May, 41, of Westview, died at Christiana Hospital on Monday, January 22, 2001.
Mrs. May worked in the Medical Technology Departments of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Riverside Hospital and, most recently, St. Francis Hospital. She was a 1977 graduate of Padua Academy and a 1981 graduate of the University of Delaware where she earned a degree in Medical Technology. Mrs. May was a past president of the Cranston Heights Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a member there for twenty years. She was also the past president of the Stanton-Newport Little League. She was an active volunteer for Contact Delaware, a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, and enjoyed ceramics, needlework and reading.
Mrs. May will be dearly missed by her husband of 18 years, Martin G.; her son, M. Greg May, Jr. of Wilmington; her parents, William, Jr. and Dolores (DelCollo) Galloway of Wilmington; her brother, William F.Galloway, III, and his wife, Mary Anne of Villanova, PA; a sister, Michelle D. Galloway of Wilmington; six nephews and a niece.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 26 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Streets, Wilmington. Friends and family are invited to call at St. Anthony’s on Thursday evening between 5 pm and 8 pm. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. McCartney, John T.
John T. McCartney of Dover, Delaware, died at home Thursday January 11, 2001. He was 62. Mr. McCartney was born August 11, 1938 in Big Rock, Arkansas, the son of the late Lawrence and Hazel Gary McCartney. Mr. McCartney worked for 15 years as an engineer, most recently with the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna, Delaware, before retiring due to disability. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War and enjoyed archery. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Fortner McCartney 2 sons, John T. McCartney Jr. of Felton, Delaware; Michael P. McCartney of Hartly, Delaware; 2 daughters, Colleen Carmean and Karen Rice both of Dover, Delaware; 1 sister, Loretta Saulsgiver of Ashville, New York; 3 step-sons, Thomas Spencer of Hartly, Delaware; Richard Spencer of Milford, Delaware; Brian Spencer at home; 1 step-daughter, Beth Lavender of Michigan and 1 grandson, Taylor McCartney of Felton, Delaware. Services will be Tuesday January 16, 2001 at 12noon in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call 1 hour before services. McCloskey, Charles A.
Charles A. McCloskey, age 66, of Newark, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2000. A beloved father, he was loved very dearly by his ten children, sons, Bart of Newark, DE, Charlie of Newark, Jamie of Fort Myers, Donnie of Michigan and Randolph Lane of Newark; daughters, Theresa Hega of Northeast, MD, Tracey McKee of Arkansas, Kelly Lane of Newark; Karen Mondzelewski, Newark, and Patty McCloskey of New Castle. He will be missed by his children, his 18 grandchildren and close friends.
Mr. McCloskey worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 1989 at the Newark Post Office on Main Street. After his retirement, he worked as a dispatcher for the Port of Wilmington for 10 years. He was a member of the VFW McDaniel Post and an avid University of Delaware football fan.

McCommons, Paul L.
Paul H. McCommons, Jr. Age 74 of Bear, DE died Saturday, February 10, 2001 at the Christiana Hospital. Mr. McCommons was a Navy veteran of WWII and had retired in 1988 as a mechanical engineer from Gaylord Container in Newark, DE where prior to that he was a farmer in the Bear/Glasgow area. Mr. McCommons was a member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Bear, the VFW Post #2863 of Newport, DE, and the Richardson's Park Sportsman's Club. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alice L. McCommons of Bear, DE; 1 son, Paul L. McCommons of Smyrna, DE; 2 daughters, Barbara Wilkers, of Chesapeake City, MD and Lesley Palfi of Rising Sun, MD; a sister, Betty Mountain of Pepperell, MA; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Leonard V. McDannell
Age 60 of Maryland Avenue, Wilmington, died Sunday, March 11, 2001 in St. Francis Hospital. Mr. McDannell worked for Beaty Construction Company for 11 years, then Woolyhan Transport Company for 18 years and J & S. Construction Company for 3 years. He was a member of Teamsters Local #326. He enjoyed gardening and building birdhouses. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Annie M. McDannell; 3 daughters, Pamela Degli Obizzi and her husband Joseph of Hockessin, Vicotria Elsayed and Patricia Trusty both of Wilmington; 2 sons, Michael McDannell and his wife Karen of Bear, DE and Leonard V. McDannell, Jr. of Wilmington; 2 brothers, Paul McDannell of Wilmington and William McDannell of Bear; 1 sister Hilda Church of New Castle and 9 Grandchildren. WILLIAM R. MCDOUGALL
Age 74 of Yorktown Road, Milford, DE, died Monday, February 12, 2001 at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford, DE.
Mr. McDougall moved to Delaware with his family 13 years ago from Levittown, NY. He was a technician with New York Telephone, now NYNEX, for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He was a volunteer member for 15 years with the Levittown Fire Company, a member of the American Legion Post #3, Milford and a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Milford. Mr. McDougall was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris S. McDougall, two sons; William L. McDougall of Denver, CO and Kevin T. McDougall of Milford, DE, three daughters; Kathleen M. Connaughton of Roseville, CA, Anne Harper of Littleton, CO and Aileen M. Waters of Lakewood, CO and eight grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening, February 15, 2001 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, DE where a Prayer Service will be held at 8 p.m. Interment will be private.

McGinnis, Frederick L.
Frederick L. McGinnis of Smyrna, Delaware, died in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital, Wednesday November 29, 2000. He was 59. Mr. McGinnis was born January 19, 1941 in Wilmington, Delaware, the son of Frederick B. and Gladys Carey McGinnis of Smyrna, Delaware. Mr. McGinnis worked as a truck driver for North Florida Transport and later as an assistant manager for the Shore Stop in Smyrna, Delaware. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he is survived by 1 daughter, Kathleen M. McGinnis of Felton, Delaware; 1 brother, Robert McGinnis of Clayton, Delaware; 1 sister, Louise Bush of Smyrna, Delaware; and a granddaughter, Taylor Hutson of Felton, Delaware. Memorial services will be Sunday December 3, 2000 at 2PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware. Burial will be private. William J. McGowan, Sr.
Of Wilmington, died on Monday, March 19, 2001 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. McGowan was retired from General Motors and was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife Agnes L. McGowan; 5 children, Marie Bradley of NH, Margaret Wojcik of PA, William J. McGowan, Jr. of Wilmington, Joseph McGowan of PA and Patricia Fabiano of PA; 2 sisters, Dorothy Mulshenock and Ann Mayhart, both of Wilmington; 14 grandchildren. Marie Holveck McKinnon
Age 91, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Lancaster Village, Wilmington, died on Saturday, March 17, 2001. Mrs. McKinnon, a homemaker, was born and raised in Wilmington and was a long time member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. She also attended St. Thomas School. Her husband William Wilmot McKinnon, died in 1990. She is survived by Sandra and John Hazzard of Kansas City, MO, Andrea and Steve Zahn of Lilburn, GA, Michele and John Hazzard of Columbus, OH, Valerie and Bill Murray of Wilmington, Victor Holveck of Wilmington, and 5 Great Grandchildren. McNatt, Howard B.
Howard B. McNatt of Smyrna, Delaware, died at home Monday January 15, 2001. He was 66. Mr. McNatt was born March 19, 1934 in Chester, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Howard B. McNatt Sr. and Ruth Kilgore McNatt. Mr. McNatt worked as a maintenance mechanic for Standard Brands in Cheswold, Delaware before retiring due to disability. He is survived by his wife, Mary Staats McNatt 2 sons, Clinton and Edward McNatt both of Clayton, Delaware; 1 daughter, Kathleen McNatt Brand of Smyrna, Delaware; 1 brother, Steve McNatt of Florida; 2 sisters, Ruth Burris of Clayton, Delaware and Jane Wright of Kenton, Delaware. 8 Grandchildren and his close friend, Sam Jacobs of Clayton, Delaware. Meadows, Mae H.
Mae H. Meadows, 83, of Conowingo, MD died January 20, 2001 at her residence. She was born on June 10, 1917 in Ceres, VA, the daughter of the late Otto & Nanny Bell Hayton. Mrs. Meadows was a seamstress and a homemaker. She was a charter member of Porter's Grove Baptist Church where she was also a member of the choir and other various church groups. She was also an auxiliary member of the Gideons International, Cecil County Chapter. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Scott Wood who died in 1963. Mrs. Meadows is survived by her husband, Henry Meadows of Conowingo, MD; one daughter, Dollie Hutchison of Severn, MD; four stepdaughters, Ruth Ann Kirk of New Orleans, LA, Linda S. Janney of Rising Sun, MD, Mary Meadows of Chesapeake City, MD, and Deborah Meadows McConnell of Elkton, MD; one stepson, Mark T. Meadows of Conowingo, MD; one brother, Richard Hayton of Sugar Grove, VA; 27 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Menaquale, Ann L.
Ann L. Menaquale, 57, of Newark, died at Christiana Hospital on Friday, March 2, 2001.
Mrs. Menaquale was employed by Macy’s Department Store for 10 years. Prior to Macy’s, she worked at the Children’s Place at the Christiana Mall for 15 years. Mrs. Menaquale attended St. Paul’s Elementary School and Wilmington High School and graduated from P.S. Dupont High School in 1963. She is predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Ann Capece, and her two brothers, Daniel and Patrick John Capese.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Armand J.; two daughters, Anne L. Menaquale of Elkton, MD and Gina M. Borkowski of Newark; and a sister, Patricia C. Leonetti of Baltimore, MD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 5 at 12 noon at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Drive, Newark. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday morning between 9:30 am and 11: 30 am at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. Meyer, Otto Karl
WYOMING -- Otto Karl Mathais Meyer, of Wyoming, formerly of Marydel, died Sunday, January 28, 2001 in his sister's home. He was 100. Mr. Meyer was born on September 25, 1900 in Mount Kisco, New York, son of the late Julius A. and Charlotte Meyer. Mr. Meyer had worked at Otto's Liquors in Marydel. He enjoyed his later years of retirement in vegetable and flower gardening. Mr. Meyer enjoyed people, and graciously gave to friends and community his time and help. Mr. Meyer took great pride in being a charter member of the Marydel Fire Company, Station 56. In spite of a wooden leg since the age of 10, Mr. Meyer successfully completed fire and ladder training and in the beginning years of the Marydel Fire Company drove the station's old chain driven Mack truck. Throughout his entire life Mr. Meyer kept in contact with family and friends with visits and gifts and when unable to travel enjoyed keeping in touch by talking on the telephone. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Dover,. Mr. Meyer's is predeceased by his wife Anne Meyer on September 6, 1990. He is survived by a brother Julius A. Meyer of Portsmouth, VA, a sister Elizabeth Schorske of Wyoming with whom he lived, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, where friends may call one hour before services Burial will be in Thomas Chapel Cemetery, Chapeltown. George C. Mischler
Age 72 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2001 in the Christiana Hospital surrounded by his family. George served in the US Navy. He worked in the grocery business for many years. George is survived by his wife, Aurelia Tootie Mischler; his daughters, Karen A. Mischler of Centreville, VA and Paula Biddle of Wilmington, DE; stepsons, Harvey Hager of Miami, FL, John M. Faverio of Wilmington, DE; his stepdaughters, Beverly Brown, of Newark, DE, Janice Chandler of Wilmington, DE; a brother, James Mischler of Newark, DE; his sisters, Jean Case, of Harbeson, DE, Mary Pawley of Janesville, WI; grandchildren, Jennifer Chandler, Kristen and Amy Brown, Jill Shellnut and Michelle Faverio. He was predeceased by his first wife, Alethea Mischler. SMYRNA -- John Mokley of Smyrna, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 88. Mr. Mokley was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on November 24, 1912, son of the late John Mokley and Bessie Handcock. He worked for Chester County, New York as a social worker. He had been a long time resident of the Delaware Home and Hospital of the Chronically Ill, Smyrna. He is survived by a nephew, The Rev. Robert Anschuetz of Pittsburgh, PA. Graveside services will be 12 noon Monday in the William Penn Memorial Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA. Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
Moley, Latriva Lee
Age 73, of Newark, DE, died February 13, 2001. Mrs. Moley was a homemaker, a former teacher and owner of Porcelain Crafts and above all else, she was a devoted mother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank S. Moley. Mrs. Moley is survived by her 2 daughters, Tina E. Vestal, of Landenberg, PA and Gina K. Pierce and her husband Robert of Ellingon, MO, 2 brothers, Milford and Calvin Freeze, both of West Virginia, 2 sisters, Virginia Cassell of McLean, VA and Coral Higgins of Pylesgrove, NJ, 1 granddaughter, Eva May Pierce of Ellington, MO, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Moran, Elizabeth M.
Elizabeth M. Moran, 82, lifelong Wilmington resident, died at Christiana Hospital on Friday, January 12, 2001.
Miss Moran was a tax preparer for Walter Ingram Tax Associates for 30 years before her retirement in 1980. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
She is survived by her sister, Gertrude Chandlee of Wilmington, her brother, Thomas J. Moran of Newark and many nieces and nephews.
