Corinne C. Kohel,
retail supervisor
Corinne Clogg Kohel, 80, of Milford, and formerly of Harrington, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at The Milford Center, Genesis Eldercare after suffering from complications of a stroke.
She was born in Showell, Md., the daughter of the late Clarence and Lillian Hadder Clogg. Corinne co-founded with her late husband Bill Kohel the William A. Kohel Petroleum Equipment Company in Harrington. In 1966, she went to work at Hess Apparel in the Milford and Dover stores, working as the supervisor for 27 years before retiring in 1993.
Her faith in God and love of her family were her passion and life. She loved to garden and cherished her home and her friends, who she insisted refer to her as “Mom” or “Nana.”
She was a very devoted and active member of both St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Harrington and later St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Milford. Corinne and her late husband Bill were an integral part in helping build St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church. She taught C.C.D. at St. Bernadette’s. Whenever anything was going on at either of the churches, Corinne was involved, especially the spaghetti dinners that were held at St. Bernadette’s. She was very giving to the church; she never saw anyone as a stranger and had a heart of gold. She was a minister of comfort with the bereavement committee at St. John’s. She always enjoyed working in the German booth at St. John’s Catholic Church Oktoberfest celebration every year.
Corinne was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader. Her yard was her sanctuary as well for she loved working and decorating for each occasion.
She was also a member of the Harrington Century Club, serving as a former officer of the organization. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 1/2 years William A. Kohel in June 2006.
She is survived by a son, Michael C. Kohel and his wife Phyllis, of Milford; two daughters, Cynthia Kohel Dukes and her husband Donald, of Lewes and Teresa Kohel Hudson and her husband Keith, of Milford; six grandchildren, Melissa Dukes Booker, of Port Orange, Fla.; Jeffrey Kohel and Stacy Kohel Greenly both of Milford; Donald Dukes II of Lewes; Megan Hudson, of Owings Mills, Md. and Sean Hudson, of Milford; seven great-grandchildren: Kelsey Kohel, Trey Kohel, Bryce Greenly, Courtney Kohel and Kristen Greenly, all of Milford, and Zachary Booker and Samantha Corinne Booker, both of Port Orange, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Charles Davis, of Berlin, Md., a sister-in-law, Helen Kohel Johnson of Rice Lake, Wisc.; and two nephews, Tony and Steve Davis of Berlin, Md.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Seabury Avenue and School Place, Milford. A time of fellowship will follow in the adjoining church hall. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in Henlopen Memorial Park, Route 1, Milton.

Adeline F. DiJanni,
Sussex homemaker
Adeline F. DiJanni, 90, of Rehoboth Beach, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at Harbor HealthCare, in Lewes.
Mrs. DiJanni had formerly lived in Riverdale, Md., for 40 years and moved to Rehoboth Beach with her daughter and son-in-law. She has lived in Rehoboth Beach since January, 1996.
Mrs. DiJanni is survived by her daughter, Blanche Davis, and son-in-law, Mike Davis of Rehoboth Beach, and her son, Joe DiJanni, and daughter-in-law, Nancy DiJanni of Clarkston, Mich.; six grandchildren, John Davis, Mark Davis, Gina Davis, Denise DiJanni, John DiJanni and Joseph DiJanni; and seven great-grandchildren, Shannon Davis, Garrett Zoebel, Griffin Zoebel, Hunter DiJanni, Darian DiJanni, Joseph DiJanni and Johanna Davis-Brodeur.

Samuel Lynn Dalious,

Samuel Lynn “Lenny” Dalious, 51, of Lincoln, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 51.
Lenny was born in Milford.
He was a general contractor, specializing in painting and remodeling.
Lenny was a member of the Moose Lodge in Milford and the Delaware Standardbred Horse Association.
He was a talented musician and enjoyed jam sessions with his friends.
Lenny had written and recorded numerous songs over the years and played the drums.
He enjoyed go-karting when he was young.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Jane “Janie” Benton Watkins.
Lenny is survived by four children, Lynnie Jack Dalious of Milford, Zackery Stowell of Millsboro, and Bristol Dalious and Brittney Dalious, both of Lebanon, Tenn.; his stepfather, Harvey Watkins of Milford; one sister, Susie Shirey; five brothers, William Dalious, John Dalious, Donald “Duck” Dalious, Dennis “Bo” Watkins and Frank Watkins; four grandchildren, Justice Dalious, Samuel Dalious, Allen Dalious and Jacob Dalious; his companion, Iris Hammond of Lincoln; a stepson, Brandon Hammond; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 2 p.m.
Burial will be private at Hollywood cemetery, Harrington.

Chester W. Wootten Jr.,
retired from Townsends
Chester W. Wootten, 76, of Georgetown, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford.
Chester retired from Townsend’s Inc. as a chick delivery driver. He loved harness horses and loved to attend horse races. He was a very likeable person.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester W. Wootten Sr. and Daisey Hudson Wootten.
He is survived by his wife, Clara S. Wootten; his stepchildren, Carol Layton, Caroline McCray, Carlton Ray Jr., Clara Lee Layton, Charlotte Kowalski; his brother, Jack Wootten of Greenwood; his sisters, Gurtrude Bradford of Salisbury, Md., Rada Lewis of Laurel, Anna Lee Robinson and husband Clarence of Bethel; and 22 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 22, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Interment will be in Line United Methodist Church cemetery, Whitesville.

Arden Louise Nagy,

Arden Louise Nagy, 73, of Lewes, died Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes.
Mrs. Nagy was born in Camden, N.J., daughter of the late Michael and Isabelle Merwarth Nagy.
She had lived in Sussex County for more than 50 years. She was self-employed as an antiques dealer. Mrs. Nagy was a very artistic person who loved arts and crafts and home decorating. She was very devoted to her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nagy was predeceased by a sister, Joan Nagy.
Mrs. Nagy is survived by her husband and lifetime companion, Louis Lane Fisher; daughter Holly A. Downs of Georgetown; two grandsons, Steven A. Downs II and Andy M. Downs, both of Georgetown; a sister, Michele Vessels and her husband John of Milton; three nieces, Amy Kratz, Cindy Lemanek and Deborah Chorman; three nephews, Michael Kratz, Jan Kratz and William Vessels; and special friends the Wyckoff and Taylor families.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 22, at Lewes Presbyterian Church, Kings Highway, Lewes with Pastor Harry Hughes officiating.
Interment will be at 3 p.m., Monday, Oct. 22, in the Lewes Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Jean Lavely, 77, of Lewes, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007.
Jean moved from Wheaton, Md., in 1995. She was a homemaker and retired from Roy Rogers as manager. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. Jean loved to dance and enjoyed the beach.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Pearl Viola Rose Lavely; her first husband Robert Kels, in 1977; and her son Daniel C. Lavely, in 1985.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, William C. Lavely; her children, Michael Kels, Jeffrey Lavely, Ronald Lavely, David Lavely, Jeffrey W. Lavely, Susie Hitz., Kathy Simpson, Delores Zierdt, Lenora Sue Clark and Cynthia Peyton; a brother, William Lavely; a sister-in-law, Barbara Lavely; 43 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.Continued from page 98

Betty K. Hoppes,
former bookkeeper
Betty K. Hoppes, 86, of Long Neck, and formerly of New Castle, and Palm Bay, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown.
She was the wife of Frederick A. Hoppes who preceded her in death in 2005, and together they shared 65 years of marriage.
In addition to being a homemaker, she was a bookeeper for Russum’s Apparel Shop, a secretary for State Farm Insurance and an employee for a pharmaceutical company in New Castle. Betty was also a talented crafter, her specialty being porcelain dolls.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Pratt and her husband Thom of Long Neck and Linda Loyd of Waycross, Ga.; two grandchildren, Tommy Loyd and his wife Lori of Picayune, Miss. and Brenda Richardson and her husband Ryan of Statesboro, Ga.; her sister, MaryJane Mackes of Peoria, Ariz.; and her brother Bill Bortz of Secaucus, N.J. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Toby. She was looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandson due in March 2008.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Harrison Senior Living for the hours of comfort and joy shown by their caring staff. She was truly loved.
As per her stated wishes, services will be private for her immediate family.

Marjory V. Hutson,
retired engineer
Marjory VanArsdalen Hutson, 79, of Millsboro, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 15, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes.
She was born on April 8, 1928, in Wilmington, daughter to the late Warren and Virginia (Wilhelm) VanArsdalen, Sr.
Mrs. Hutson worked as an engineer for the Diamond State Telephone Company for a number of years. She was a charter member of the Long Neck United Methodist Church. Marjory also enjoyed camping, crocheting and corresponding with friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth T. Hutson in 1976.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Thomas W. Hutson Jr.; a daughter, Karen D. Hutson of Millsboro; a son, Kurt M. Hutson and his wife Sandy of Milford; six grandchildren, Michael A. Rowe Jr. and his wife Shannon, Jennifer S. Rogers, Thomas W. Hutson, Katherine A. Burris and her husband Brian, Donald A. Hutson and Taylor L. Hutson; six great grandchildren, Zachary and Jayden Rowe, Courtney and Leah Rogers, Kaleb and Kaden Hutson; a brother, Warren VanArsdalen Jr. and his wife Barbara; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Maloney and Mickey Decino.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at the Long Neck United Methodist Church, Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after noon.
Interment will be private.

Hazel O’Day Millman,

Hazel J. King O’Day Millman, 93, of Lewes, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. She was born June 26, 1914, in Georgetown, daughter of the late Robert Peter and Julia Butcher King.
Mrs. Millman was a caregiver in the Lewes area for a number of years and had also been a storekeeper for many years with her first husband. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred B. O’Day (1961) and her second husband, Edward Preston Millman (1984). She is survived by her daughter, Fay O’Day Pletcher of Seaford; two sons, Donald O’Day of Georgetown and Ronald E. O’Day and his wife Andee of Lewes; six grandchildren, Jeffrey T. Wheatley of Greenwood, Valerie D. Gilbert of Seaford, Stacy R. O’Day of Oklahoma City, Okla., Ronald J. Williamson of Reliance, Md., Dana S. Sanchez of Alexandria, Va. and Shawn Smith of Seaford; several great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Mildred Hastings of Laurel and Grace Luciani of Wilmington.
