Marie N. Adduci,
retired teacher
Marie N. Finney Adduci, 69, of Millsboro, and formerly of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at Lewes Convalescent Center, Lewes.
Mrs. Adduci was born Oct. 12, 1938 in Pungoteague, Va., to the late Benjamin and Marie Horsey Finney.
She was a teacher in Philadelphia, where she worked with troubled and special needs children; she also mentored other teachers in the same field. She also worked a few years at Stockley Center, near Georgetown.
She retired and moved back to Millsboro in May 1995. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Antioch College in Philadelphia, and she was pursuing her master’s degree when she was called to the ministry. She ministered in many different churches doing home visitations and participating in conferences with fellowship churches.
Mrs. Adduci was the First Lady of Jesus Ministries, Inc. She was a member of Lighthouse Church in Wyoming, Del. and the Deliverance Church in Philadelphia.
She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Joseph P. Adduci; a son, Ernest Anthony Finney and his close friend Regina Bush of Georgetown; a brother, James B. Finney of Millsboro; a sister, Jeanette L. Finney of Millsboro; a nephew, Alfonzo Sample; her nieces, Monica Kelly, Angelica Finney, Amy Kellam and April Thacker; her great-nephews, Larmar Finney, James Finney, Fulton Holland Jr. and Orlando Kelly Jr.; and many friends and church brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the St. John’s 2nd Baptist Church, Mount Joy, near Millsboro.
Friends may call one hour before the service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Johnny M. Malone,
St. Jude member
Johnny Michael Malone, 27, of Harbeson, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at his residence in Harbeson after a lifetime battle with leukemia.
Johnny was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church of Lewes. He was involved with the Consortium of Rehoboth Beach and was an assembler at the Chimes Workshop in Millsboro.
He is survived by his parents John Malone and Miriam "Mimi" (Hanrahan) Malone of Harbeson; two brothers, Jason Malone and Daniel Malone, both of Harbeson; paternal grandfather, John J. Malone of Lewes; an uncle, David Malone, M. D. and his wife Nancy Hykel-Malone, M. D. of Newton Square, Pa.; an uncle, John Hanrahan and his wife Tonie of Georgia; an aunt, Barbara Ann Jarrell and her husband David of Lewes; and an aunt, Diane Farrow and her husband Thomas of Lewes.
Johnny was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Dolores (Sienia) Malone; and maternal grandparents John and Marie Hanrahan.
Prayer services will be held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Peter's cemetery, Pilottown Road in Lewes.

Bertram E. Abrahart,
lobster fisherman
Bertram Edward Abrahart, 67, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at Woodside Hospice in St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was born in London, England, and immigrated to America in 1966 with his wife Peggy and three small daughters, settling in Wilmington, but the ocean called him to Lewes where he became a lobster fisherman with friends Bill Rice and Bob Dorman.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Peggy Abrahart; daughters, Debra Ten Eyck and her husband Gregg, and Jacquline Abrahart; four grandchildren, Rick Cooper, Shannon Cooper, Kyle TenEyck and Lynsey Abrahart; and a sister-in-law, Pat Henrick and her husband John.
A daughter, Susanne Abrahart, was killed by a drunk driver at age 14 in 1976.
A memorial service will be held at the Lewes-Rehoboth Moose Lodge 646 on Route 9, west of Lewes, at a later date.
Winfield W. Jackson,
retired truck driver
Winfield W. “Winnie” Jackson, 81, of Millsboro, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at home.
He was born on March 24, 1926, in Millsboro, to the late Isaac E. and Edna L. Clark Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was a truck driver for a moving company for many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre.
Mr. Jackson was a member of Harmony U.M. Church, Millsboro. He loved Bible study and reading his Bible; he loved Leolga’s meals and his favorite place to eat was the Country Kitchen where he went every morning for breakfast when he was able.
He was loved by his family and he loved his family dearly; he kept everybody in the family informed on how the rest of the family was doing and how they were doing.
Winnie will be fondly remembered by everyone for the memories of the way he cared for his mother.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by a brother, Emery E. Jackson on Oct. 27, 2007, and two sisters, Kathleen Wright in 1995 and Clarice Tomasso in 2006.
He is survived by two brothers, the Rev. Carl Jackson of Millsboro and Isaac Jackson of Dover; three sisters, Minerva Street of Mantua, N.J., Vera C. Morris of Lewes and Joan J. Martin of Washington, D.C.; many nieces and nephews; and every other special friend. which was everyone he ever met.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 9, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, with the Rev. Claudia Waters officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, Patriot’s Way, Millsboro.
Benjamin B. Wheatley Jr.,
retired supervisor
Benjamin Brooks Wheatley Jr., 65, loving husband of Linda Wheatley of Waynesboro, Va., died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, in the Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville, Va.
He was born Feb. 6, 1942 in Milford, a son of Benjamin Brooks and Dorothy Ruth Davis Wheatley.
Mr. Wheatley was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Prior to retirement, he was employed by E. I. DuPont as a supervisor for 41 years.
He was an active member of Ruritan National Organization, the Virginia Thoroughbred Association, the U. S. Trotting Association and he was an avid horseman.
In addition to his wife, family members include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Benjamin Brooks Wheatley III, Scott Davis Wheatley, and Trey and Donna Hardesty; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Jill and Terrance Williams and Donna and Dale Sheets; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Jane C. and Jerome Love of Seaford, Caroline W. and Bob Clayville of Bridgeville, Cathie Jo and Cecil Jones of Laurel, and Dorothy E. Wheatley of Bridgeville; grandchildren, Jessica Wheatley, Ian Wheatley Bryant, Terrance Williams Jr., Colin Williams, Kari Williams, Jayson Williams, Hunter Hardesty, Cody Sheets, and Cole Sheets; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday Nov. 10, at Union United Methodist Church, Market Street, Bridgeville, with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday Nov, 13, at Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, Millsboro.

Linda Baker,

Linda Marie McCabe Baker, 58, of Millsboro, formerly of Newark, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007.
Ms. Baker was born in Wilmington on March 27, 1949. A telephone operator by profession, she retired from Verizon in Wilmington after over 30 years of service. She was active with Cokesbury Church in Georgetown. Ms. Baker will be lovingly remembered by family and friends as a caring, compassionate and kind person who truly possessed a heart of gold.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie A. Magee McCabe; and by a son, Shawnee Baker.
She is survived by her son, George H. Baker Jr. of Georgetown; father, Rollin P. McCabe Jr. of Newark; granddaughter, Arieanna Marie O’Donnell; sister, Diane R. McCabe Lawhead and husband Bill of Newark; niece, Nikole Irelan and husband Dan of Newark; nephew, Chris Lawhead of Newark; paternal grandmother, Mary Agnes McCabe Talley and husband Harlon of Fenwick Island; and aunt and uncle, Nancy Richards Reed and Jim Reed of Milton.
A funeral service was held Thursday, Nov. 8, with interment in the adjoining memorial park.

David Eldred Mumford,
maintenance worker
David Eldred Mumford, 49, of Milton, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007.
Born in Berlin, Md., he was the son of the late Eldred Mumford and Viola Florence Green Mumford.
Mr. Mumford had worked for many years at Animal Services Lab and for the Harrison Group in their maintenance division.
He had also volunteered at local soup kitchens.
Mr. Mumford is survived by his wife, Constance Ann Phippin Mumford; and three sons, David Mumford and his wife Veronica of Millsboro, Matthew Mumford of Berlin and Christopher Mumford of Milton; six grandchildren, Austin, Trenton, Marshall, William, Michael and Merric Mumford; three sisters, Melody Stevens and her husband Joseph of Havre de Grace, Md., Nancy Dellinger of Kingsville, Md., and Ruth Sharon Mumford of Cambridge, Md.; and several aunts uncles, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
Interment will be in Bowen cemetery in Newark.

Rodolf Manzione,
World War II veteran
Rodolf (Rudolph) Manzione of Dagsboro, 85, lovingly known as “Pop,” passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at his home.
He was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Portsmouth, Va.
He was a World War II combat veteran and a proud member of the Army’s 29th infantry Blue and Gray division.
He participated in several battles including D-Day, Omaha Beach, Normandy, St. Lo, Vire, Brest, Julich/Roer River, Muchen Gladbach, Rhine River/Elbe River and others.
After World War II, Mr. Manzione moved to Baltimore and worked as a carpenter for Welsh Construction and Regional Management Co. and retired to Dagsboro in 1985.
Mr. Manzione was preceded in death by his parents, Rodolph Manzione and Louise Lagenstra Manzione; and his brother, Victor J. Manzione.
He is survived by a daughter, Marlene Y. Fletcher of Fruitland, Md.; three grandchildren, Robert “Mike” Bennett of Millsboro, Matthew A. Davenport of Salisbury, Md., and Angela Arcement of Fruitland; eight great-grandchildren; and many friends.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Millsboro.

Jerry D. Franklin,
retired carpenter
Jerry D. Franklin Sr., 57, of Millsboro, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at his home.
He was born in Millsboro, son of the late Medford and Edna Cooper Franklin.
He was a retired carpenter.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Laury Franklin; two sons, Jerry D. Franklin Jr. and his wife Kristen, and Boomer Maiorano; four daughters, Dawn Scott and her husband Stephen, Missy Buck and her husband John, Stacey Wetzstein and her husband Fred, Jill Stoeckel and her husband Chris; three brothers, Ruben Franklin, Linwood Franklin, Danny Franklin; a sister, Cynthia Wootten; 11 grandchildren, Shawn, Brent, James, Jordan, Jacque, John, Sam, Jordan, Tony, Ryan, Mia; his hospice caregiver, Todd Karrick; and his faithful cat, Topo Gigio.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9, at Millsboro Wesleyan Church, 255 Wilson Hwy, Millsboro DE.
