Ernest Parson,
retired Cape custodian
Ernest Parson, 66, of Milton died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, in Harbor Healthcare, Lewes.
Mr. Parson was born July 16, 1941, in Quitman, Ga., son of the late Arthur James and Mary Lee Parson. At an early age, he joined Monument Baptist Church, Quitman. In 1967, Mr. Parson joined the King Solomon Lodge 287.
He was a supervisor at Doxsee Food Corp., Lewes, until it closed in 1986.
Being a man who could not sit around, he became a custodian with the Cape Henlopen School District. Mr. Parson worked there until he retired in 2003.
He is survived by his loving children, Regina Parson of Millsboro, Cevon Maull of Milford, Ricky Witherspoon of Ellendale, Anthony Powell of Lincoln, and Brian Johnson, Brad Johnson and Tierra Johnson, all of Milton; six sisters, Gertrude Peterson, Vera Turner, Dorothy Parson, Beatrice Thomas, Almarie Blanchard and Emma Jean Griffin; three brothers, Bishop Woodrow Parson, Freddie Parson and James Parson; three brothers-in-law, James Thomas, Pierre Blanchard and Willie Griffin; two sisters-in-law, Mary Parson and Janice Parson; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, in Friendship Baptist Church, Lewes, where friends may call two hours prior. Burial will be at Friendship Church, Lewes.

Raymond Edward Lambert,
Army veteran
Raymond Edward Lambert, 74, of Bridgeville departed this life and went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford.
He was born June 8, 1933, in Titus Town, Norfolk, Va., to the late Ross and Clara Lambert. Mr. Lambert received his early education in Titus Town, Norfolk.
He then moved to Milton in 1948 and was converted in the Mt. Zion Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Elder Jacob Brittingham Sr.
He attended the Mt. Zion Holiness Mission under the leadership of his sister, the late Pastor Viola Butts, and he recently rededicated his life to the Lord.
Mr. Lambert served in the U.S. Army until 1954 and received an honorable discharge.
He married Louvenia Hill-Lambert in 1961. During this union came two children, Donna Lambert-Beckett and Sharon Lambert.
He was a brick mason laborer from 1960-75. Mr. Lambert was employed at the Community Action, Georgetown, for 15 years.
He had a former wife, Frances Persons-Lambert, who now resides in Wilmington.
Mr. Lambert loved to serve the Bridgeville community.
He provided meals, food and transportation to many individuals from the Coverdale Crossroads community.
Mr. Lambert has a special friend, Mildred Taylor of Laurel. Thank you for your support throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Fred, John and Mary Lambert, Louise Eley and Rosetta Powell Savage.
Mr. Lambert is survived by his baby sister, Daisy Lambert-Williams of Maryland; his children, Donna Beckett of Bridgeville, Sharon Lambert of Milton, Dennis Thompson of Georgetown and stepson Wayne Hill of Sylvester, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Janice Hill of Lakewood, N.J.; one son-in-law, Edward Beckett of Bridgeville; seven grandchildren, Dwayne Beckett and Edward Beckett II, both of Bridgeville, Sharmaine Lambert and Jermaine Lambert, both of Milton, and Rodney Hill, Aquavius Hill and Zaterrian Hill, all of Sylvester, Ga.; three great-grandchildren; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 7, in the Greater Faith Church of God in Christ, Bridgeville, where friends may call one hour prior.
Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans cemetery, Millsboro.

Mary E. Handor,

Mary E. Handor, of Lewes, formerly of Aston, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at home.
Mary was born March 9, 1920, in Chester, Pa., daughter of the late Antonio and Margherita Damato Garafola.
Mary worked in research and development for Scott Paper Co., Philadelphia, and other Scott locations for 33 years. She moved to Lewes in the mid-1970s and made it her home. In the Lewes area, Mary worked at Oneida Outlet Store in Rehoboth for 18 years. Her co-workers at Oneida say Mary loved to sell and chat with the customers and did an outstanding job.
In addition to working, Mary spent many years as a volunteer and head of ceramics at Cape Henlopen Senior Center. Her friends from the center say they dearly loved Mary and she was a “very special person.”
Mary was a devoted sister, aunt and friend. She loved to help others, keep active, enjoy life, eat spaghetti and sweets and drink lots of coffee. Those who knew her will understand.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank Handor in 1976; her siblings, Pauline Zuk and Frank Garafola; and her nephew, George Urian. She is survived by her sisters, Rose Sheehan of Marcus Hook, Pa., and Louise Urian of Upland, Pa.; her brother, Peter Garafola of Aston, Pa.; nephews William Sheehan, Robert Sheehan and Peter Garafola, all of Delaware; nieces Margaret Stead of Virginia, Mary Barr, Carol Hoy and Cindy Garafola, all of Pennsylvania; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, and her devoted dog Jacque. All will miss Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 10, at St. Edmond’s Catholic Church, King Charles Avenue and Laurel Street, Rehoboth Beach with the Rev. James Downs as celebrant. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary cemetery, 170 Township Line Road, Linwood, Pa. Friends may call at St. Edmond’s beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Lorraine F. Tuozzo,
Boeing Aircraft retiree
Lorraine F. Tuozzo died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William A. Sr. and Daisey F. Dimbleby Dutton; a half-brother, Charles Dodds; and a son, Ronald Tuozzo in 1996.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Nicholas L. Tuozzo; children, Rick Tuozzo and wife Melinda of Crownsville Md., Scott Tuozzo and wife Tammy of Jacksonville, Fla., Pamela O’Hare and husband Patrick of Middle River, Md., and daughter-in-law, Sandra Tuozzo of Chicago Ill.; two brothers, William A. Dutton Jr. of San Diego, Calif., and Ronald L. Dutton of Aston, Pa.; 13 grandchildren, Kay, Bill, Mike, Shelly, Lori, Eliese, Alisa, Michelle, Michael, Steven, Robin, R.C. and Tayler; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Lorraine attended Oak Orchard Community Church in Oak Orchard. She was a retired electrical assembly worker for Boeing Aircraft. She attended Pelican Cove CHEER Center and was a wonderful wife and mother.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, at Oak Orchard Community Church in Oak Orchard. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro.
Pastor Allen Miller will officiate.

Betty Marie Goodhue,

Betty Marie Goodhue, also known as Betty T. Goodhue, 65, of Wilmington, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, after a courageous battle, from complications of pancreatic cancer.
She is missed and remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. A Wilmington native, Betty was born on May 21, 1942, to John H. and Anne J. Tubbs (nee Hanlon). She retired in 2002 from Wilmington Trust Co. after 42 years of service as an assistant vice president of the bank’s brokerage subsidiary. Betty especially enjoyed gardening and spending time with her husband of 28 years, David S. Goodhue Sr.
Besides David, Betty is survived by her son, Victor J. Goodhue Sr., his wife Amy M. Goodhue, her grandson, Victor J. Goodhue Jr., of Milton; her son, David S. Goodhue Jr., his wife, Colleen L. Goodhue, her grandson, McKeown David Goodhue of Miami, Fla.; her sister, Margaret A. Bryant, Margaret’s husband, Donald E. Bryant of Wilmington; her brother, Thomas M. Tubbs, Thomas’ wife, Julia L. Tubbs of Wilmington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services celebrating Betty’s life will be private.

Helen R.C. Kesselring,

Helen Rebecca Clarke Kesselring, 96, of Dover died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, in Silver Lake Center, Dover.
She was born Jan. 31, 1911, in Darby, Pa., daughter of the late John Howard Clarke and Elsie Dinsmore Smiley.
Helen was dedicated to her life as a homemaker, wife and mother.
On the family farm, she enjoyed raising her children, spending time with grandchildren, flower gardening, cooking and baking.
In addition her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ammon Kesselring, in June 1989.
She is survived by her 97-year-old sister, Dorothy Clarke Watson of Morehead City, N.C.; four children, Doris Kesselring Taylor of Camden, Joyce Kesselring Cowden and her husband Charles of Fairport, N.Y., Larry Kesselring and his wife Elaine of Newark and Frank Kesselring and his wife Alice of Camden; nine grandchildren, Kevin Kesselring of Ormon Beach, Fla., Terence Taylor and his wife Barbara of Dugway, Utah, Shannon Kidder and her husband David of Kemblesville, Pa., Sue Lyn Schramm and her husband Mark of Falls Church, Va., Constance Ciarico and her husband Joe of Fairport, Karin Pleasanton and her husband Sean of Camden, Robin Stehle and her husband Paul of Denver, Colo., Nelson Kesselring and his wife Erin of Rehoboth Beach, and Kimberly Tuttle of Claymont; and 11 great-grandchildren, Christopher Kesselring, Krista Kesselring, Mariah Taylor, Robert Taylor, Colleen Taylor, Lauren Kidder, Nathan Kidder, Olivia Pleasanton, Miles Pleasanton, Mary Ciarico and Roman Stehle.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Wyoming United Methodist Church, 107 Broad St., Wyoming.
Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery, Dover.

Edmund R. LaFond,

Edmund Richard LaFond, 38, of Rehoboth Beach died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, in Christiana Care Medical Center, Newark.
Mr. LaFond was born in Washington, D.C., son of William A. and Margaret Quay LaFond.
He was a 1987 graduate of Cape Henlopen High School, Lewes.
Mr. LaFond attended the University of Delaware, where he majored in agribusiness.
He was an avid golfer and had been a member of the Cape Henlopen High School golf team.
Mr. LaFond had worked at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club Pro Shop and at various restaurants in the area.
He was a member of the Millsboro Art League and was a watercolor artist.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Michelle LaFond of Wilmington; his aunt, Mary Jean DelCampo of San Diego, Calif.; his aunt and uncle, Robert J. and Christine LaFond of Ocean City, Md.; and numerous cousins.
A prayer service will be 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, in Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior.
The Rev. Raymond Forrester will officiate.
