Donna Denise Winfrey, 25, departed this life in Branford, CT, on December 12, 2010, after a courageous battle with cervical cancer.
Born in New Haven, CT, July 2, 1985, she was the daughter of Nadine Winfrey and Dennis Moore.
Donna attended the New Haven and Middletown Public Schools.
She accepted Christ on November 30, 2010.
At the time of her death, Donna was a loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, aunt and cousin.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Laniah Winfrey; paternal grandmother, Mary E. Moore; maternal grandfather, Charles Winfrey; brothers, Savonne and Troy Winfrey and Shawn Moore; aunts, Betty Thompson of Colorado Springs, CO, Sammie Moore of Hamden; Lorraine Moore of Stratford, Donna Winfrey of New Haven, April Davis of New York, NY, Latrice Winfrey of New Haven, Tashena Moore of Bowie, MD, Melissa Edsell of Norristown, PA, Lawanda Leslie of Hamden; uncles, John Moore of Hamden, Carl Moore of Cromwell, Rodney Moore of Stratford, Charles Winfrey, Jr. of New Haven, Donald Winfrey of New Haven, Donald Penn of Hamlet, NC, Darryl Minchenko of New Haven, Charles Minchenko of Naugatuck, Byron Moore of Bowie, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Donna was predeceased by her maternal grandmother Peggy Winfrey; paternal grandfather, Dennis Moore, Sr.; aunts, Sheila Winfrey and Donna Moore; and a cousin, Lapreea Moore.
A celebration of Donna's life will be held Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 9:00 AM at Mount Hope Temple, 555 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 8:00-9:00 AM. Burial will be in Hamden Plains Cemetery.
Bishop Eugene Walker
- 2010
Bishop Eugene Walker, of New Haven, went home to rest on October 29, 2010 with his family by his side.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Adele Walker.
He was the son of the late Beady Marshall.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at Supermarket Distributor as a Truck Driver.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Avon, Cyril "Chuckie", Bernard and James (Deborah) Walker and John Hughes; daughters, Wahwee Walker, Alice Pritchett and Wendy Mcleod; a sister, Esther Brawner; and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Bishop Walker's life and legacy will be held Thursday, November 4, 2010, at 5:30 PM at Deliverance Temple Pentecostal Church, 584 Congress Ave., New Haven. Memorial contributions may be sent to Mrs. Adele Walker, 64 Hallock St., New Haven, CT 06519.
Rudella Bowser
1913 - 2010
Rudella Bowser, departed this life December 1, 2010 at the Sister Anne Virginie Grimes Health Center of New Haven, CT. Born in Edenton, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Hattie Harrell. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Bonner, a son George W. Bonner, a grandson Carson L. Bonner; sisters Mary and Uniabelle, Della Mac; and brothers Joseph, Oscar, Prezell and Alphalicious.
Rudella Bowser moved to New Haven at an early age. She was a faithful member of St. Matthew's Free Will Baptist Church of New Haven, CT, under the leadership of the late Dr. Lloyd Taylor, where she sang with the Gospel Chorus Choir. She continued her membership under the leadership of Bishop Robert J. Gay and the St. Matthew's church family.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven, CT.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories a sister, Olivia Coston and a brother Lynn Harrell of Philadelphia, Pa; granddaughters, Rudella Gary (Edward) of North Carolina, Sandra Lankford of Palm Bay, Fl, Deramon Moffett of Jacksonville, FL; grandsons, George Bonner Jr. of New Haven, CT, Reginald Murphy (Glenda) of Charleston, SC; 23 great grandchildren; 33 great-great grandchildren; 8 great-great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of Ms. Bowser's life and legacy will be held Thursday, December 9, 2010, at 11:30 AM at St. Matthew's UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 11:00-11:30 AM. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Redessa Trimble-George, 57, of Wethersfield, departed this life November 26, 2010. She was the wife of Desmond George.
Born in Chesterfield, SC, July 8, 1953, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Odessa Cash.
Mrs. Trimble-George was employed at the Hartford Hospital Group as a Medical Assistant.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Romaine Trimble (Talitha) and Bryan M. Trimble (Carol); brothers, Ray, Chester and Clayton Cash; sisters, Ola Mae and Thelma Kelly and Katherine Lockwood; sixteen grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Mrs. Trimble-George's life and legacy will be held Thursday, December 2, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Faith Baptist Church, 39 Emma St., West Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be private.

Anna Beatrice Miller Smith, 61, of Hamden, departed this life November 27, 2010. She was the wife of Robert A. Smith, Jr.
Born in Wheeling, WV, February 17, 1949, she was a daughter of Harold Miller and the late Doris Miller.
Mrs. Smith was employed at St. Martin DePorres Academy as Head Teacher for Pre-K 2.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by her children, Terence, Nichelle, Martin, Alexander and Annicia Smith; a brother, Harold Miller, Jr.; a sister, Sandra Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Mrs. Smith's life and legacy will be held Thursday, December 2, 2010, at 11:00 AM at St. Martin DePorres Church, 136 Dixwell Ave. (corner of Webster St.) New Haven. Gladys R. Slater, 89, of Hamden, departed this life November 21, 2010. She was the widow of Eugene Slater.
Born in Orange, CT, August 21, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Eliza James.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at Woolworth Co. as an Elevator Operator.
She is survived by a sister, Loretta Brockenberry; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by six sisters and two brothers.
A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Slater's life will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 10:00 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.

Leanna Moore, 89, of New Haven, departed this life November 15, 2010.
Born in Roanoke, VA, April 13, 1921, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Moore.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at St. Regis Health Care Center as a Certified Nurse's Assistant.
Ms. Moore was a member of St. Matthew's UFWB Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah J. Powell; a sister, Frances Younger; a granddaughter, Patrice Sanders (Brian Sams); a great granddaughter, Jasmine Sams (Hakeem Webster); and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Jack, Thomas, Henry, Daniel and Darnell Moore; and a sister, Martha Taylor.

Adrian Winfrey

Adrian Winfrey, 52, of Blue Grass Dr., Middletown, CT, departed this life April 10, 2007.
Born in New Haven, CT, September 13, 1954, he was the son of Dorothy Mae Winfrey Inge and the late John Henry Winfrey, Sr.
He was a faithful member of Everlasting Faith Ministries in Middletown where he assisted with the Men's Ministry.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Aleka Walker; grandchildren, Devin and Alexia Davis; sisters, Addie Stevens (Rev. Dewitt Stevens, Jr.) and Delorise Simmons; a sister in-law, Sharon Winfrey; devoted fiance, Sheila Tobias; an adopted brother, Jerome Nelson; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Winfrey, Jr. and a sister, Yvonne Williams (Raymond George).
A celebration of Adrian's life and legacy will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at 7:00 pm at Shiloh Christian Church, 311 E. Main St., Middletown. Friends may call at the church from 6:00-7:00 pm. Barbara J. Armstrong, 53, of Hamden, CT, departed this life September 2, 2007. She was the wife of Ezekiel Armstrong.
Born in New Haven, CT, September 1, 1954, she was the daughter of John Spell and the late Verna Spell.
Prior to retiring, she was employed by SNET/SBC.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by a son, Jason Armstrong; a daughter, Kasey Armstrong; a brother, Gary Spell; a sister, Tammie Stanley; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
