Morstine "Tina" McDaniel
1940 - 2007

Morstine "Tina" McDaniel, 67, of New Haven, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Milford Hospital. She was the widow of James "Jimmy" McDaniel.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, August 20, 1940, she was the daughter of Evangelist Josephine Bowe.

At the time of her death, she was employed as a Sales Associate at Macy's in the CT Post Mall. She was previously employed at Yale New Haven Hospital for over 20 years in the Billing Department and was a licensed real estate Sales Executive for James Mack Properties in South Carolina.

Tina received and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was a member of Pitts Chapel UFWB Church. She was a member of the Knickerbocker's Golf Club. She led a very active lifestyle enjoying activities such as SHOPPING, traveling, playing golf, bowling, playing tennis, cooking, reading and spending time with family and friends. Her laughter will never be forgotten.

In addition to her mother, she leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Sylvia Dawkins; a grandson, Khalil Abdus-Salaam (Davon J. Brown); a great grandson, Khamiri Abdus-Salaam, all of New Haven; a sister, Marcelline "Marcy" Bowe of Fort Worth, TX; brothers, Marshall Bowe, Jr. of St. Stephens, SC and David J. Bowe of Grand Prairie, TX. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, April, Johna, Tiffany, Christina, and Nyasha Bowe; a nephew, David J. Bowe; a great nephew, Jonathan Lawrence as well as her friends and acquaintances.

A celebration of Mrs. McDaniel's life and legacy will be held Thursday, December 13, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Pitts Chapel UFWB Church, 64 Brewster St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Minnie Mae Brown
1913 - 2007

Minnie Mae Brown, 94, of New York, NY, formerly of West Haven, CT, departed this life July 8, 2007. She was the widow of William Henry Brown, Sr. and Roosevelt Roberts.

Born in Cordele, GA, April 12, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Jeff and Emma Walker.

Mrs. Brown is survived by a daughter, Etta Farris-McKnight(Jerome); a sister, Bobbie Roberts; grandchildren, Michael Brown, William Brown III (Sallie), Edward and Marcus Brinkley, Kenya and Quinton Farris, Andre and Anthony Murphy and Toljiana Roberts; 8 great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by a son, William Henry Brown, Jr.; a daughter, Anita Murphy; a grandson, Kenneth Brown; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

A celebration of Mrs. Brown's life and legacy will be held Friday, July 13, 2007, at 10:00 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Friends may call Thursday from 7:00-9:00 PM.

Enery Maldonado
1940 - 2007

Enery Maldonado, 66, of New Haven, departed this life August 18, 2007.

Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, October 28, 1940, she was the daughter of Jaime Maldonado and Maria A. Perez.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Camelia, Regino "Jerry" and Magaly Rodriguez, Marino Perez, Inez, Claundia, Jaime, Genoveva and Gudelia Maldonado; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by a sister, Lucy Maldonado and a brother, Luis Rodriguez.

Friends may call Monday (TODAY) from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Door to Salvation Church, 3 Arch St., New Haven. Burial in Ponce, Puerto Rico.

Pauline Frances Thompson White King
1945 - 2009

Pauline Frances Thompson White King, 63, of New Haven, departed this life June 19, 2009. She was the widow of Albert L. King.

Born in Torrington, CT, October 16, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Oliver A. Thompson, Sr. and the late Leva Frances Jones Thompson.

Mrs. King was a Day Care Provider for numerous years.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Lisa A. and Charla A. White; brothers, Gordon A. and Donald W. Thompson; sisters, Roberta L. Proctor, Virginia Ivory and Phyllis A. White; grandchildren, Travena Perry, Jaylina and Jamieshea Hunter and Timmy Turner, Jr.; brothers in-law, Leon Ford-Bey, Sr., Richard Walker and Phillip T. White; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Oliver A. Thompson, Jr.; and sisters, Margo Walker and Patricia A. Thompson.

A celebration of Mrs. King's life and legacy will be held Friday, June 26, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Eilene Toles
1934- 2006

Eilene Toles, 72, of New Haven, departed this life on May 27, 2006. She was the widow of Kenneth Toles.
Mrs. Toles was born in Sylvester, GA, on February 14, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Moses and Lula Mae Thomas.
Mrs. Toles was a member of Whitney Ave. Church of Christ.
She is survived by sons, Dexter Thomas and John and Calvin Fields; sisters, Eva Abraham and Inez Warren; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service in celebration of Mrs. Toles' life will be held Friday, June 2, 2006, at 7 PM at Faith Baptist Church, 39 Emma St., West Haven. Friends may call at the church from 6-7 PM. Burial Saturday at 10 AM in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements.

Bishop Aaron Gore

Bishop Aaron Gore a lifelong New Haven resident, pastor of the New Bethlehem U.F.W. Baptist Church for 34 years and presiding Bishop of the Northern New England Conference of the U.F.W. Baptist Churches Inc., transitioned peacefully with family by his side on Monday June 11, 2007 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a long illness.

He was the son of Marie S. Gore and the late Arlander Gore. He was married to the late Peggy (Williams) Gore. To their union three children were born; Maria Gore, Aaron (Andrea) Gore, Jr., and Brian K. (Marta) Gore. He was blessed of his offspring with five grandchildren: twins Brittany and Briana Gore, Erin Alexandra Gore, Kayla Christine and Vernon Kendall, Jr. and Brian Bostick.

In the past he served as chairman of the Newhallville Cooperative Housing Corp. for two years. In his capacity, as Senior Pastor he was not only a Pastor, but a bridge builder and a humanitarian. Under his leadership he orchestrated an emergency shelter, clothing distribution center, and Soup Kitchen in the Hill neighborhood.

His passionate commitment to spread the Word of God continued unabated, despite various struggles. Throughout his ministry, Bishop Gore used his strong personality and eloquent oratory to spearhead the doctrine of Christ.

A Homegoing Celebration of Bishop Gore's life and legacy will be held Monday, June 18, 2007 at 10:00 am at St. Matthew's UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Entombment in the Beaverdale Mausoleum. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church Sunday from 5:00-7:00 pm followed by a service of memorial reflections from 7:00-9:00 pm. Viewing and visitation will also be held at the church Monday from 9:00-10:00 am.

Gregory Lee

Gregory Lee, 49, of Dixwell Ave., New Haven, died November 7, 2005.
He is survived by his father, Frank Lee, Sr.; siblings, Larry Lee Barrow, Diane Smedley, Frank Lee, Jr., Robert (Linda) Lee, Timothy Lee and Terrence Lee; an uncle, William Barrow; aunts, Gladys and Sally Lee, Annie Grant and Rosa Fair; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Betty Ann Lee and a brother, Ricky Lee.
Funeral service will be held Monday, November 14, 2005, at 5pm at St. Matthew's UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave. Friends may call at the church from 4pm-5pm. Burial will be private.

Elizabeth Wentt
1928 - 2008

Elizabeth Wentt, 80, of Woodbridge, departed this life October 16, 2008.

Born in Milford, CT, January 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinando A. and Edna Mitchell Parris.

She was employed in the Insurance Services industry for numerous years.

Ms. Wentt is survived by a son, Dr. Allan R. Wentt, Jr.; daughters, Attorney Cassandra E. Wentt, Karen D. Wentt and Michele D. Wentt; a sister, Marjorie P. Fowler; a brother, Fredericke L. Parris; her former spouse, Rev. Allan R. Wentt, Sr.; twelve grandchildren; a step great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Ms. Wentt's life and legacy will be held Monday, October 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 111 Whalley Ave. New Haven.

William Brown, Sr.
1909 - 2008

William Brown, Sr., age 98 of Homosassa, Fla., died on Friday evening, June 20, 2008, at his residence and under the care of his family and Hernando-Pasco Hospice.

Born October 26, 1909, in Pitt County, North Carolina to Ben and Lula Brown, he was a resident of New Haven, Connecticut for over 70 years and retired as a Machine Operator for Olin-Matheson Chemical Corporation.

While residing in New Haven, he was a member and served as a Trustee of the Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a civic-minded leader who once ran for the office of Alderman. He was a dedicated volunteer with Meals on Wheels and assisted in transporting the elderly.

He was preceded in death by his wife Viola Pauline Smith Brown in 1994, to whom he was married for over 50 years.

His strong belief in education, which stemmed from his grandfather who was instrumental in building the first school in Greenville, NC, led to his commitment to ensuring that his five children obtained a higher education and became successful in their chosen professions. His eldest daughter, the late Elsie Browder was a Registered Nurse. He is survived by his children; Dr. William Brown, Jr. (Sarah) of Washington, DC, Anthony K. Brown Lt. Col. USAF Ret. (Albertha), Collinnette Spears (Donell) a Licensed Practical Nurse / Social Worker, and Olivia Dyson (Robert) a retired high school principal, who all reside in Homosassa, Fla.

William Brown was predeceased by sisters; Gladys Brown Harper Harris, Mimi and Lelia Brown and Mae Sue Mabry; and brothers, Ben Carr, Sr., Moses, John and Elias Carr and Amos, Robert and Lonnie Brown.

In addition to his children, he leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of Mr. Brown's life and legacy will be held Friday, June 27, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church College Scholarship Fund, 1324 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06511.

Jeffrey A. Moore
1961 - 2009

Jeffrey A. Moore, 48, of Hamden, passed away suddenly on June 16, 2009.

Born in New Haven, CT, February 25, 1961, he was the son of Sylvia Betty Thigpen Moore and the late Jimmy L. Moore.

He was employed for several years at Radio Frequency Systems in Meriden, CT as an Assembler.

In addition to his mother, he leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Daniel Gaskins Moore; a daughter, Ayesha Brantley; stepdaughters, Lachesha, Ruthie and Gladys Gaskins and Tanya Medina; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; sisters, Diane Bartlette and Linda Moore of Hamden, Sheila Gary (Billy) of New Haven and Annette Ford (Gilbert Sr.) of White Plains, MD; brothers, Michael and Vincent (Rhonda) Moore of Hamden; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Mr. Moore's life and legacy will be held Monday, June 22, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Zion Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 64 Marlboro St., Hamden. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 A.M. and at the church, Sunday (TODAY), from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
