Wallace Bolling

Wallace Bolling, 62, of Canton St., West Haven, departed this life on June 13, 2006.
Mr. Bolling was born in Baltimore, MD, on February 5, 1944. He was the son of the late Wallace Ruffin and Cora Bolling.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by U.S. Repeating Arms and was also an Army veteran.
He is survived by daughters, Arlevia Samuel, Janine Evans, Joylin Evans, Jacqueline Evans Myers and Petula Bolling all of New Haven and Patricia Gibbs of New Bern, NC; a sister, Constance Fleming of New Haven; 15 grandchildren; 2 nephews; a niece and other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a grandchild.
A funeral service in celebration of Mr. Bolling's life will be held Saturday, June 17, 2006, at 12 PM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Friends may call from 11 AM - 12 PM. Burial will be private.
Frank Rowe, Jr.
1938 - 2010
Frank Rowe, Jr., 72, of New Haven, departed this life March 9, 2010. He was the husband of Sylvia Rowe.
Born in Hobson City, AL, January 27, 1938, he was the son of the late Frank Rowe, Sr. and Caroline Quicksey Butler.
Mr. Rowe was employed at Porce-len Co. in Hamden as an Inspector.
In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Monique and Lakisha Quicksey; stepchildren, William Quicksey, Jr., Franklin Quicksey, Deborah Quicksey-Meade and Gail Quicksey-Wilder; brothers, Archie Butler, Jr., and Robert Lindsey; a sister, Marilyn Butler; grandchildren, Mone’ and Reshawn Blue; and a host of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Archie Butler, Sr. and a brother, Ricky Lee Butler.
A celebration of Mr. Rowe’s life and legacy will be held Monday, March 15, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Church of Christ, 16 Gem St., New Haven. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church Sunday from 6:30-8:30 PM.
Josephine D. Washington
1926 - 2006
Josephine Dolores 'Dee" Wilson Washington, 80, of Middletown, CT, departed this life on June 24, 2006. She was the beloved wife of Odell Washington.
Josephine was born in New Haven, CT, on June 6, 1926, daughter of Josephine Wilson and the late Lloyd Wilson.
She was employed at Yale New Haven Hospital for a number of years and had also been employed by Winchester Repeating Arms.
In addition to her husband and mother, she leaves a son, Bryan (Elisa) Washington; a grandson, Vincent Daniel; brothers, Harry, William (Ruth), Lloyd (Angela) and Donald (Dorothy) Wilson; a sister, Arlene Henry; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and caring friends.
A funeral service in celebration of Josephine's life will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at 11 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Friends may call from 10-11 AM. Burial in the State Veterans' Cemetery, Middletown, CT.
Ina Lee Flanagan Miller
1920 - 2009
Ina Lee Flanagan Miller, 89, of New Haven, departed this life July 9, 2009. She was the widow of Freddie Douglas Miller.
Born in Wayne County, NC, January 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Willie Garfield Flanagan, Sr. and Sarah Broadhurst Flanagan.
Prior to retiring in 1984, Mrs. Miller was employed at the V.A. Medical Center in West Haven as a Psychiatric Nurses’ Aide.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her granddaughter, Robin Miller-Godwin (Jerome); sisters, Vantoice Farrior, Iris Bernice Sutton and Doris Flanagan; a special nephew, Keith Naylor; special nieces, Tracey Naylor and Philistine Ammons; two great-granddaughters, Marissa and Jasmine Godwin; two special great-nephews, Brandon and Kyle Naylor; a special great niece, Annie Naylor; an aunt, Mattie Greenfield; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Douglas Miller; brothers, Elisha, Willie Garfield, Jr., and Charlie Daniel Flanagan; sisters, Sarah Estelle Hall and Martha and Zelda Mae Flanagan; a special niece, Eleanor Naylor; and her daughter-in-law, Ruby Williams Barnwell.
A celebration of Mrs. Miller’s life and legacy will be held Monday, July 13, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at Macedonia Church of God in Christ, 151 Newhall St., New Haven. A Reflective Hour will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Willie L. Burney
1929 - 2005
Willie L. Burney, 75, of Derby Ave., New Haven, departed this life on August 10, 2005.
He was the husband of Rosener "Rosena" Bradley Burney.
Mr. Burney was born November 15, 1929, in Folkston, GA, son of the late James and Frances Glover Burney.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by CT Welders. He was an army veteran and was a member of Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church in New Haven, where he served as a deacon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Willie Burney, Jr.; daughters, Barbara Skinner, Joanna Hill, Louise Osborne and Gwendolyn and Denise Burney; a sister, Rose Dixon; 32 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Osborne, Jr; and brothers, James Burney, Jr., Frank, Jesse, Albert, Midas and Earnest Burney.
Funeral service will be held Monday, August 15, 2005, at 7pm at Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church, 806 Orchard St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 6pm-7pm. Burial Tuesday at 9am in Evergreen Cemetery.
Oliver A. "Pat" Thompson, Jr.
1939 - 2007
Oliver A. "Pat" Thompson, Jr., 67, of West Haven, departed this life March 16, 2007.
Born in Torrington, CT, October 28, 1939, he was the son of the late Oliver A. Thompson, Sr. and Leva Frances Jones Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was a US Army veteran.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary Warren Thompson; siblings, Gordon A. Thompson, Sr., Virginia E. Ivory, Margo L. Walker, Pauline F. King and Phyllis A. White, all of New Haven, Roberta L. Proctor of Waterbury and Donald W. Thompson of Hartford; brothers-in-law, Phillip White and Richard Walker; a stepdaughter, Sandy A. Warren; six step-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia A. Thompson and a stepdaughter, Joyce A. Warren.

Frank A. Smith
1923 - 2008
Frank A. Smith, 84, of Cheshire, departed this life May 21, 2008. He was the husband of Alice Woodson Smith.
Born in Lenoir County, NC, August 18, 1923, he was the son of the late Fairro and Emma J. Smith.
Mr. Smith was a WWII Army veteran and prior to retiring in 1986, he was employed at Winchester Repeating Arms as a Machine Operator.
Frank received his Certification in Electronics and was also an excellent amateur photographer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, James R. and John R. Smith; daughters, Linda Williams (Charles R.), Janet Allston (Gilbert E.) and Cindy A. Nisbeth (Errol); sisters, Eulla Oliver and Esther Huckabee; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Albert F. Smith and a brother, James Smith.
A celebration of Mr. Smith's life and legacy will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Varick AME Zion Church, 246 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Ricky D. Pearson
1963 - 2007
Ricky D. Pearson, 44, of New Haven, departed this life December 8, 2007. He was the husband of Michelle Pearson.
Born in New Haven, CT, October 15, 1963, he was the son of Daisy Pearson and the late Robert Pearson.
In addition to his wife and mother, Ricky leaves to cherish his memories, a son, Nicholas and a daughter, Samantha of New Haven; brothers, William and Leroy of New Haven; sisters, Janie of New Haven and Rosa of Hamden; seven nephews; four nieces; a sister in-law, Alicia Pearson; best friends, Paul Harris and Troy Bryant; and other relatives and friends. He will be missed by family and friends.

Irene E. Toliver
1940 - 2007
Irene E. Toliver, 67, of New Haven, departed this life August 19, 2007.
Born in Richmond, VA, January 1, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Marshall Bryson, Sr. and Alice Bryson.
Prior to retiring, she was employed for numerous years as an Accountant.
Ms. Toliver is survived by her children, Bruce Toliver, Lorna Staten (Kim) and Leslie Schillo (Gabriel); a brother, Marshall Bryson, Jr.; a sister, Patricia A. Bryson; special nieces, Sheila Saunders and Olivia Bryson; a special nephew, Gregory Williams; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by sons, Robert Toliver, Jr. and Anthony Toliver and his wife Lisa; and two sisters, Alice Williams and Marjorie I. Hudson.
A memorial service celebrating Ms. Toliver's life and legacy will be held Friday, August 24, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Interment of cremated remains in Hamden Plains Cemetery.
