Leroy Ernest Fitch, 91, of New Haven, departed this life on June 14, 2006. He was the husband of Letitia Smith Fitch.
Mr. Fitch was born in New Haven, CT on November 6, 1914.
He was the son of the late Collins Luther Fitch and Lulu W. Singleton Fitch.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Louis S. Miller; a grandson and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Collins L., Jr., Harrison, Sr., William, George, Milton F. Sr., Jerome and Althea.
A funeral service in celebration of Mr. Fitch's life will be held Friday at 11 AM at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10-11 AM.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends may also call Thursday from 5-8 PM at Dixwell Ave. United Church of Christ, 217 Dixwell Ave, New Haven; fraternal services will begin at 7 PM.
Helen P. Hines
1927 - 2006
Helen P. Hines, 78, of Peck St., New Haven, departed this life on February 2, 2006.
Mrs. Hines was born July 7, 1927, in Detroit, MI, daughter of the late James and Sarah Young Patterson.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 35 years by SNET in the marketing division.
Helen was a member of Bethel AME Church in New Haven where she served on the Stewardess Board #2, Gospel Choir and the Bereavement Committee. She was also a member of Les Bon Ami's Civic and Social Club and was an avid bowler with TELSO.
Mrs. Hines is survived by a daughter, Denise H. Williams; a son, Edward William Hines, Sr.; her husband, William Henry Hines, Jr.; sisters, Rosa R. Taylor and Evelyn Patterson; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Morris Patterson and a sister, Iris Jones.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Helen's life will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at 11am at Bethel AME Church, 255 Goffe St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10am-11am. Burial will be private.
John H. Wooten
1935 - 2006
John Herbert Augustus Wooten, 70, of New Haven, departed this life, April 26, 2006.
Mr. Wooten was born November 7, 1935, in Milford, CT, son of the late William Henry and Minnie Lewis Wooten.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Galvin Pools as a pool builder.
He was an Army veteran.
Mr. Wooten is survived by daughters, Joann and Natasha Mitchell; sons, Tyrone and Tyrese Mitchell; sisters, Evelyn Herring and Matilda Gibbs; 9 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his companion, Mary Mitchell; a brother, Elmer Wooten; and sisters, Shirley Wooten and Florence King.
A funeral service in celebration of John's life will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at 11 AM at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 9-11 AM. Burial will be private.
Calvert Hall

Calvert Hall, 66, of Hamden, departed this life March 16, 2007.
Born in Meridian, MS, September 28, 1940, he was the son of the late LouEllen Hall.
Mr. Hall had been employed by Stop & Shop Distribution Center as a supervisor.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Kallette Hall; grandchildren, Elijah Jenkins and Shamar Blandina; other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Hall and sisters, Amy and Gladys Hall.

Janie C. McClean
1928 - 2008
Janie C. McClean, 80, of New Haven, departed this life May 23, 2008.
Born in Warrenton, NC, January 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late James and Della Kearney.
Ms. McClean was employed in the Dry Cleaning Industry for numerous years as a Presser.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters, Linda Kearney McFadden and Denise McClean; devoted sons, Clifton McClean, Jr. and Anthony McClean; a loving son in-law, Dovell McFadden; grandchildren, Janique and Janaye McClean, James Harris and Jasmine McFaddden; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Douglas, James A., Rufus and William H. Kearney; and sisters, Helen P. Jones and Dora and Gertrude Kearney.
A celebration of Ms. McClean's life and legacy will be held Thursday, May 29, 2008, at 6:00 PM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Burial will be held Friday at 9:00 AM in Evergreen Cemetery.
Jannie Mae Prescott

Jannie Mae Prescott, 64, of New Haven, departed this life November 8, 2009.
Born in Cassette, SC, February 3, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Simon and Rosa Lee Farmer Jackson.
She was employed at the former Echlin Automotive Control Co. as a Material Assembler and was a member of Joy Temple Church of Christ in Prayer.
Ms. Prescott leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Renee Hickman (William) of Bishopville, SC; sons, Ronnie, Donnie and Christopher Prescott all of New Haven; brothers, Benny Jackson (Gloria) and Andrew Jackson (Juanita) both of Cassette, SC; sisters, Abbie Forman (James) of Balitmore, MD and Mary Lee Johnson (W.C.) of Bishopville, SC; her former spouse, Edward Lee Prescott of Bishopville, SC; fifteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Lee Jackson and Simon Jackson, Jr.; sisters, Willie Bell Watson and Mariah Charles; and a granddaughter, Kiara Suggs.
A celebration of Ms. Prescott's life and legacy will be held Thursday, November 12, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. at Joy Temple Church of Christ in Prayer, 424 Howard Ave., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 9:00-10:00 A.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Harry A. Sands, 78, of New Haven, died April 29, 2006.
Mr. Sands was born December 4, 1927, in New Haven, CT, son of the late James F. and Grace E. Lowry Sands.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Hummel Bros. as a machine operator.
He was an Army veteran.
He is survived by his children, Lewis and Lemond Johnson and Leota Johnson Green; sisters, Shirley Davis and Gwendolyn Sands; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his spouse, Elizabeth Johnson; a daughter, Esther McDuffie and brothers, Melvin, Herbert, Wallace and Stilson Sands.

Henry was born November 6, 1984, in New Haven, CT son of Henry L. Campbell, II and Madgalene Parker Campbell of New Haven.
He was a graduate of James Hillhouse High School and was employed at Haven Health Care Center of New Haven.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by sisters, Priscilla and Doris Campbell of New Haven; 3 nieces and a nephew, all of New Haven; and other relatives and friends.

Delphia Wilson Williams, 81, of Greenville, NC, formerly of New Haven, departed this life October 3, 2008.
She is survived by a daughter, Ethel Lytle; a brother, William Earl Wilson; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Annie Sewell

Annie Sewell, 76, of New Haven, departed this life on November 26, 2005.
Ms. Sewell was born in Danville, VA, March 14, 1929, daughter of the late James and Taylor Young Alston.
In addition to working as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Ms. Sewell was employed by and retired from Sargent Manufacturing Co. as a tool maker with over 25 years of service.
She was a member of St. Martin de Porres Church.
Annie leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Claudia Sewell Lewis and Sheila Sewell Brinkley; sons, Gil (Marina) Sewell, Chris Sewell and Ira (Terris) Sewell; a sister, Mary Alston Lucky; grandchildren, LaTanya (Jerry) Burton, Ashon (Chanel) Avent, Myla Lewis, Chris Jr., Shanicka McKnight and Janelle and Tiffany Sewell; 4 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by brothers, Percy, Howard and James Alston Jr. and sisters, Theresa Alston Reeves, Eardie Alston Lopes and Landonia Alston Mulrain.

Edward "Eddie" Lockett
Edward "Eddie" Lee Lockett, formerly of New Haven, departed this life on October 26, 2006 in Atlanta, GA. He was the husband of Evangelist Dorothy Lockett.
Born in Chattanooga, TN, he was the son of the late Willie and Amy Hill Lockett.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by G&O Manufacturing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Apostle Jeffrey "JQ" Lockett of Houston, TX; daughters, Cynthia Harris and Rozalyn Dixon both of Atlanta, GA and Sheridan Lewis-Crawford of West Haven; and a host of other relatives and friends.
