Malinda "Bootsie" Golden
1914 - 2009
Malinda "Bootsie" Golden, 95, of New Haven, departed this life March 16, 2009. She was the widow of Charley "Fats' Golden.
Born in Danville, VA, January 26, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Priscilla Nash Worthy.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at Soundview Nursing Center as a Cook. Mrs. Golden was a longtime member of Union Temple UFWB Church.
She leaves to cherish her memories a son, Ronald "Robert" Copeland; grandchildren, Shaleah N. Copeland, Dana C. Frazier and Khalil J. Copeland; great grandchildren, Kevin and Kendel Frazier; a sister in-law, Jacqueline Worthy; a goddaughter, Louise Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Jr., Alexander, Nathaniel and James Worthy; and sisters, Josie W. Greene, Rosetta W. White, Evelyn W. Hilton, Maria W. Edmond, Pauline W. Bennett and Ruthella Worthy.
A celebration of Mrs. Golden's life and legacy will be held Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at Union Temple Church, 54 Platt St.(corner of Elm St.) New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 8:00-9:00 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Jermaine J. Robinson
1983 - 2005
Jermaine J. Robinson, 22, of Quinnipiac Ave., New Haven, departed this life on August 24, 2005.
He was born in New Haven, CT, on June 5, 1983, son of Shelley Robinson. Jermaine was employed as a mechanic by Pep Boys in Hamden.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Shane Eric Robinson; a brother, Sean Robinson; maternal grandmother, Emily Robinson; aunts, Sandee and Karen Robinson; uncles, Chuck Robinson and Laertese Hatcher; other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at 11am at Beaverdale Memorial Park, 90 Pine Rock Ave., New Haven.
Velver Selena Hansley Munn
1933 - 2008
Velver Selena Hansley Munn, 75, of New Haven, departed this life September 12, 2008.
Born in Durham, NC, March 11, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Lacy G. and Helen Scott Hansley.
She was employed by Bob's Stores for over twenty years.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Ronnie Hansley; a stepdaughter, Barbara Munn; a granddaughter, Salena Renee Hansley; a great grandson, Devin James Shamar Hansley; an aunt, Bernice Womble (Thomas) and a cousin, Shirley Womble both of Durham, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A sister, Helen Mae Umstead, a nephew, Eric Reginald Dancy and a stepson, Kevin Munn preceded her in death.
A celebration of Ms. Munn's life and legacy will be held Thursday, September 18, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
Elizabeth Graham McCoy
1914 - 2008
Elizabeth Graham McCoy, 93, of New Haven, departed this life July 4, 2008. She was the widow of William Henry McCoy.
Born in Lenoir County, NC, October 20, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Sudie Mae Edwards Graham.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at Winchester Repeating Arms as a Buffer.
Mrs. McCoy is survived by her daughters, Edna McCoy and Arthelia McCoy Bogans both of New Haven and Malnor McCoy Tyson Gray-Mayo of Denver, CO; sons, Ervin T. McCoy of Florida and William Earl McCoy of New Haven; a brother, Herman Odell Graham of North Carolina; a sister, Jessie Mae Turner of North Carolina; a sister in-law, Brownie Joyner Brown of New Haven; her stepmother, Annie McCoy of New Haven; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Ree McCoy-Sessions; brothers, Robert, Elias, Isaiah and George Graham; a grandson, Mark Tyson; and a granddaughter, Geraldine Sessions.

Solomon T. Norris
1936 - 2008
Solomon T. Norris, 71, of New Haven, departed this life January 27, 2008.
Born May 30, 1936 in Zanesville, OH, he was the son of the late Solomon T. and Neva R. Norris.
Mr. Norris was employed at Blakeslee Arpaia Chapman as a Construction Worker.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter, Neva L. Sanders; a son, Solomon T. Norris, Jr.; a granddaughter, Natali N. Sanders; sisters, Dolores Spell Ashmore and Wanda Cooper; his former spouse, Lydia H. Norris; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by several siblings.

Inez Mack
1919 - 2009
Inez Mack, 90, born March 1, 1919 in Early Branch, South Carolina to the late Elizabeth Shaw, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 8, 2009.
She was raised in South Carolina where she attended public schools before moving to Brooklyn, New York in the early 1940’s and later settled in New Haven.Inez was united in marriage to the late Abraham Mack in January of 1954.
Inez made many achievements in her lifetime. She was a former employee of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Later she and her husband, Abraham, were proprietors of Mack’s Grocery Store. Following retirement, she was employed by the SAGE Agency as a caretaker for the elderly.
Inez was baptized and received the Holy Ghost in the late 1980’s at Beulah Heights Church and remained a faithful member until her death.
Inez leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, Douglas Shaw; two sisters, Earnease Daniels and Dora Wilson of New Haven; a step-son, Norris Barr-Mack of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Cassandra (Demont) English, James Williams and Kenita Williams of New Haven, and a special niece, Mae Brown. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, saints and friends.
She was predeceased by her adopted daughter, Janice Williams Ashe; six brothers and five sisters.
A celebration of Mrs. Mack’s life will be held Sunday, June 14, 2009, at 7:00 P.M. at Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church, 782 Orchard St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Burial will be Monday at 9:00 A.M. in Evergreen Cemetery.
Oscar L. Bailey, Jr.

Oscar L. Bailey, Jr., 55, of New Haven, departed this life September 1, 2007.
Born in Montgomery, AL, July 5, 1952, he was the son of Oscar Bailey, Sr. and Annie Bailey.
He was employed at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Travis Lee; daughters, Tahesha and Chalice Bailey; sisters, Dorothy, Karen and Bridget Bailey, Rose Simpson and Shirley Gaines; two grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Annie L. Woodard Toles, 73, of Hamden, departed this life August 1, 2009.
Born in Sylvester, GA, August 19, 1935, she was the daughter of the late George W. Woodard, Sr. and Charlie Mae Garnes Woodard.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her spouse, Henry R. Toles; sons, Henry E., Randy and David Toles; daughters, Tanya Toles-Smith (Dilton) and Peggy and Ann Toles; a brother, Bishop George Woodard, Jr. (Diane); sisters, Josephine Lovette (James) and Lillian Toles; eight grandchildren; a great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael D. Toles and sisters, Dorothy Moses, Vera Lee and Clara Mae Jones.

Norma Kay Keen
1934 - 2007
Norma Kay Keen, 72, of New Haven, CT, crossed over to be with the Lord, Friday, May 4, 2007 at Connecticut Hospice. She was the widow of Charlie Keen, Jr.
Mrs. Keen was born in New Haven, CT, August 8, 1934, daughter of the late William "Mr. Bill" Douglas and Bernadine Merritt.
She was a lifelong resident of New Haven and was employed by the New Haven Board of Education as a paraprofessional.
She is survived by her children; William Keen, William Douglas (Catherine) and Mia DeStefanis (Guido) all of New Haven, Caroline Keen of West Haven and Kenneth Keen (Tricilla) of Hamden; 16 grandchildren; 7 great- grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Keen; a son, Charlie Keen III; a sister, Delores Taylor; and brothers, Kenneth and George Merritt.
A celebration of Mrs. Keen's life and legacy will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at 7:00 pm at Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church, 782 Orchard St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 5:00-7:00 pm. Burial will be private.
Sharon Miller-Jackson
1957 - 2008
Sharon Miller-Jackson, 51, of West Haven, was born on November 13, 1957, in Gordo, AL to Robert E. and Ida M. Miller.
She confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life.
Upon moving to New Haven, Connecticut, Sharon joined Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Gerald Hampton.
Sharon Miller-Jackson was a God fearing and loving woman. During the last several years of her life, she faithfully attended St. Matthew's Unison Free Will Baptist Church in New Haven.
Mrs. Jackson was a very loving and caring person who displayed her love for God through helping others and the work she did in her church. Sharon will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
She was employed for 14 years at the Cheshire Correctional Center as a Correctional Lieutenant. Sharon was united in Holy Matrimony to William "Bill" J. Jackson on September 3, 1995 until God called her home to her special place in heaven.
Preceding Sharon in death was one beloved brother, Harvey Lewis Washington.
In addition to her husband and parents, survivors include a son, Henosha L. Miller of New Haven; grandson, Kashawn Miller of Hamden; sisters, Annie Ruth Washington, Betty Sue Lott (Tommy), Cassandra Cooper (Paul) and Angela E. Cotton all of Tuscaloosa, AL, Brenda Alexander (Keith) of Chicago, IL and Annie L. Hood of St. Louis, MO; brothers, Larry Owens of Levern, AL, Rodney E. Miller of Chicago, IL, Danny E. Miller (Carol) and Jimmy Hardy (Brenda) all of Gordo, AL, Milton Jerome Miller (Jessica) of Midwest City, OK, Robert E. Griffin of Tuscaloosa, AL and Johnny Will of Fayette, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
