Jan C. Moltzau of Kernersville,
N.C., a former Fairfield resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was 69.
He died of lung cancer, according to his family.
Born Dec. 12, 1931, in Brussels, Belgium, he was a son of the late Arnold and Florence Whitehurst Moltzau.
Mr. Moltzau graduated from Lawrenceville Preparatory School in New Jersey and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
He served in the U.S. Air Force Secret Intelligence Department during the Korean War.
He served as coordinator of special projects for the Texaco Marine Department, where he worked for more than 36 years before retiring in 1993.
He is survived by two daughters, Paula Laria of Stamford and Leslie Kerr of Kernersville; a son, Ian Scott Moltzau of Fairfield; a sister, Peggy Scott-Hansen of New York; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Judith Gaston Moltzau; and a brother, Alfred Humphrey.
There are no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 at St. Thomas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield.

John Raphael McGinnis,
a Norwalk resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000 at Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk. He was 86.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born March 26, 1914, in Chicago, he was a son of the late Raphael and Adelaide McMahon McGinnis.
Mr. McGinnis taught math at Norwalk High School from 1968 to 1982. He previously was a teacher and a principal at schools in the Chicago area, Memphis, Tenn., Amarillo, Texas , and Hammond, Ind. He was president of Lewis University in Lockport, Ill., from 1960 to 1967.
In addition to teaching, he directed the band program at De La Salle Institute in Chicago and coached a championship basketball team at Price High School in Amarillo. During World War II, he taught navigation and aircraft structure to servicemen in Chicago.
He graduated cum laude from De La Salle Institute of St. Mary's University with a bachelor's degree in science. He earned his master's degree in mathematics from Loyola University and received an honorary doctor of philosophy degree from Lewis University.
He was a member of the Fairfield County Retired Teachers Association, the Connecticut Retired Teachers Association and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Muriel Flaherty McGinnis of Norwalk; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, James McGinnis and Edwin McGinnis.
Calling hours will be 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 15, 2000 at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 at St. Philip's Church, One Father Conlon Place, Norwalk.
Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Norwalk.

Joseph J. Lorenti Sr.,
a lifelong Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. He was 71.
He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family.
Born June 16, 1929, in Stamford, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sylvia Sylvestri Lorenti.
Mr. Lorenti served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was a foreman for the Public Works Department for the city of Stamford for more than 20 years before retiring in 1989. He also was a building contractor, building homes for 10 years in Stamford and Greenwich.
Mr. Lorenti was a member of St. Cecilia Church of Stamford.
He competed in archery, hunting, fishing and boating. He served as president of the New Hope Pigeon Club and was an avid pigeon racer. He also served as president of the Archery Club of Cos Cob. He was the former president of the Kane Avenue Association and served on many fund-raising projects for the Willard School.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Slesh Lorenti of Stamford; two sons, Joseph J. Lorenti Jr. and David Lorenti, both of Stamford; a sister, Elizabeth Wolf; a brother Albert Lorenti of Stamford; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Yolanda Janicki and Sylvia Rodriguez; and a brother, John J. Lorenti Sr.
A funeral procession will leave Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, 2000 at 8:50 a.m. today, Dec. 15, for St. Cecilia Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford, for a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford.
Louis F. Macsata of Monroe,
a former longtime Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000 at the Lord Chamberlin Nursing Home in Stratford. He was 84.
He died of heart failure, according to his family.
Born March 27, 1916, in Bridgeport, he was a son of the late Albert Macsata and Gertrude Macsata Tropsa.
Mr. Macsata was a production coordinator at the former Machlett Laboratories, which later became part of Raytheon Corp., in Springdale for 42 years.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Stamford Fish and Game Association.
He is survived by two daughters, Eileen Fitzgerald of Shelton and Lila Taylor of San Rafael, Calif.; two brothers, Albert Macsata of Princeton, N.J., and John Tropsa of East Orleans, Mass.; and three grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Emma Czako Macsata.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.
A memorial service will follow at noon at the funeral home.
Burial will be private.
Patricia "Pippa" Thomas Kirmayer of Norwalk,
died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 61.
She died of heart failure, according to her family.
Born October 17, 1939, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Edwar Trudeau Thomas and Martha Botsford Thomas.
Mrs. Kirmayer was a graduate of Garrison Forrest School and Smith College, class of 1961. She taught riding at Fox Hollow School and was a research analyst at Compton Advertising in New York City. She retired from Traflagar Ltd. in Norwalk in 1998.
A resident of Norwalk for 34 years, Mrs. Kirmayer had been active in the Norwalk Garden Club, Pegasus, the Smith Club, the Norwalk Historical Society and as a docent at Lockwood-Mathews Mansion.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Kirmayer of Norwalk; three daughters, Kathryn Kirmayer of Sliver Spring, Md., Melissa Kirmayer of Seattle and Laura Sachs of Denver; two brothers, James Carey Thomas of Delray Beach, Fla., and Henry Botsford Thomas of Washington , D.C.; and a grandson.
A memorial service will be held in Norwalk in the spring.

Patrick S. McDonough of Norwalk died Wednesday,
Dec. 13, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 83.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born March 4, 1917, in Portland, Maine, he was the son of the late Coleman and Delia Flaherty McDonough.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Pacific during World War II.
Mr. McDonough resided in Norwalk for most of his life. He was a Norwalk police officer, retiring after 30 years of service. He also was a member of American Legion Frank C. Godfrey Post 12, Knights of Columbus, Police Benevolent Association and Connecticut State Police Association.
He is survived by his wife, Anne McGrath McDonough; two sons, Terrence S. McDonough of Stamford and Kevin P. McDonough of Franklin, Mass.; a daughter, Pamela A. McDonough of Newtown; a brother, John McDonough of Wilton; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000 at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2000 at St. Philip Church, 25 France St., Norwalk.
