Randolph Ford, Jr.
1924 - 2007
Randolph Ford, Jr., 82, of New Haven, CT, departed this life March 24, 2007. He was the widower of Ida Ford.
Born in St. Petersburg, Florida on November 17, 1924, he was the son of Katherine Ford, age 101 of Florida and the late Randolph Ford, Sr.
Mr. Ford was a veteran of WWII and was an active member of Community Baptist Church, serving on the Usher Board and the Male Chorus. Randy was employed by Dattco Bus Company as a driver for the Durham School District.
In addition to his mother, he leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters Gwendolyn Bell (Richard) and Rhonda Jackson (Allen); three grandchildren, Richard Bell, II, and Jerard and Stephen Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Laila and Bilal Bell; a dear friend, Laura Rollins; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Ford.
A celebration of Mr. Ford's life and legacy will be held Thursday, March 29, 2007, at 11 AM at Community Baptist Church, 143 Shelton Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 9-10 AM. Masonic and Usher rituals will be held from 10-11 AM. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
Bettie Lou Baker Moye
1937 - 2009
Bettie Lou Baker Moye, 71, of New Haven, departed this life January 7, 2009. She was the widow of Robert Lee Moye, Sr.
Born in Greenville, NC, May 22, 1937, she was the daughter of the late George Baker, Sr. and Betsy Vail Baker.
She is survived by sons, Robin Christopher, Lamont and Robert L. Moye, Jr.; daughters, Mary Baker, Zelda, Loretta and Renee N. Moye; brothers, George Baker, Jr., Zachary and Arnold Lee Baker; sisters, Barbara Ann and Shirley Baker; twenty grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Baker and a sister, Barbara-Jean Baker Jones.
A celebration of Mrs. Moye's life and legacy will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
Thomas S. "Sonny" Williams
1936 - 2005
Thomas S. "Sonny" Williams, 69, of Putnam Ave., Hamden, died on September 10, 2005.
Mr. Williams was born in Philadelphia, PA, on August 1, 1936, son of the late Saul and Zola Pettis Williams.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Kendall-Rebar Co. in Woodbridge as a draftsman.
He is survived by daughters, Lorri (Junius) Hughes and Sherri Williams; a son, Neal Williams; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by brothers, Marvin McNish, Orin Roundtree and Richard (Eric) Allen and sisters, Elizabeth Gayle, Sabre Drummonds and Jennie Williams.
Funeral service will be held Friday, September 16, 2005, at 11am at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. No Calling Hours. Burial in Hamden Plains Cemetery.
Aneslow Hemphill
1925 - 2009
Aneslow Hemphill, 83, of New Haven, departed this life February 10, 2009. He was the widower of Pauline Hemphill.
Mr. Hemphill was born February 11, 1925 in Old Fort, NC.
He was an Army veteran and prior to retiring, was employed at Whitney Blake Manufacturing as a Material Handler.
He is survived by a daughter, Ahnjala Hemphill; a son, Paul Hemphill; a sister, Richabelle Williams; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Hemphill was preceded in death by brothers, William Lytle and Virgil Lytell; and sisters, Beatrice Peoples and Virginia Heard.
A celebration of Mr. Hemphill's life and legacy will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
Gloria M. Robinson

Gloria M. Robinson, 78, of New Haven, departed this life on August 18, 2006. She was the widow of Carl Robinson.
Mrs. Robinson was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on April 1, 1928, daughter of the late Alfred L. Gooden and Doris Mercedes Gooden.
She had been employed as a Certified Nurse's Aide.
Mrs. Robinson is survived by brothers, Joseph and George Gooden; sisters, Anita Moore, Joyce Gooden and Roma Wint; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Yvette Betty Little

Yvette Betty Little, 60, of New Haven, departed this life July 10, 2008. She was the loving wife of Wade A. Little.
Born in Washington, D.C., February 18, 1948, she was the daughter of Mary Jackson Williams and the late Charles Williams.
Mrs. Little was employed at West Rock Health Care Center and New England Home Care as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
In addition to her husband and mother, she leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Shar Thomas; sons, Robert and Richard Thomas, Wade Little, Jr. and Bryan Little; brothers, Charles, Benjamin, Michael and Ronald Knight; sisters, Denise, Dawn, Rhonda and Wanda Knight, 17 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; an adopted daughter, Ruth Morales; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mary Anne Leak

Mary Anne Leak, 61, of New Haven, CT, departed this life on January 17, 2006.
Ms. Leak was born December 17, 1944, in Washington, DC, daughter of the late Willie and Emma Blue Leak.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the City of New Haven as a city administrator.
Ms. Leak was a member of Bethel AME Church in New Haven and was also a member of the NAACP and the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Danielle (Rev. John E., Jr.) Cotten; a son, Julian Paris; sisters, Rev. Alice Diane White and Gladys L. (William A.) Burford; brothers, James and Benjamin Leak; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by sisters, Willa Belle Furlow and Linda Leak.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2006, at 9:30am at Bethel AME Church, 255 Goffe St., New Haven. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
Rufus Staton, Jr.
1930 - 2007
Rufus Staton, Jr., 76, of New Haven, departed this life March 22, 2007. He was the husband of Laura Staton.
Born in Greenviile, NC, March 26, 1930, he was the son of the late Rufus Staton, Sr. and Retha Staton.
Prior to his illness, he was employed by S. Levine Transmission Service. He was a member of St. James Unity Holiness Church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory, sons, William Foreman (Carol) of West Haven, Larry, Ronnie (Janice) and Alonza Staton, all of New Haven and Stephen Carr of Greenville, NC; daughters, Carolyn Garnett (Lambsdell) of New Haven, Hilda McCoy (William) of West Haven and Retha Neal (Charles) of Hamden; brothers, Earl, Joe, John and Thomas Staton, all of New Haven; sisters, Annie Mercer of Bridgeport and Addie Collins of New Haven; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Staton was preceded in death by brothers, Edward, Jesse, Milton and Mose Staton.

Jajuana A. Cole, 13, of New Haven, departed this life on June 17, 2006.
Jajuana was born in New Haven on May 1, 1993. She was the daughter of Sonda Whitfield and stepdaughter of Jaykeen Foreman, Sr.
In addition to her mother and stepfather, she is survived by her father, Sterling Cole; siblings, Jayvon Foreman, Sterling, Jr., Jeremy and Quanisha Cole and Toianda Harris; a stepbrother, Jaykeen Foreman, Jr.; grandparents, Gertrude and Melvyn Williams, Frank Whitfield, Debbie Fulcher and Ossie Greene; and other relatives and friends.

Tina C. Jaynes

Tina C. Jaynes, 59, of New Haven, departed this life on September 14, 2006.
Born in New Haven, CT, on June 15, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Douglas Jaynes and Grace Rogers Jaynes.
She was employed by the CT Mental Health Center as a Mental Health Assistant for 34 years and was a member of Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Ms. Jaynes is survived by a son, Ronald LaFrazier (Lisette); a brother, Thomas Jaynes; sisters, Loretta Covington, Virginia Britt, Arlene Jaynes and Dorothy Graham; two grandchildren, Kenneth Andre LaFrazier and Daevon Anthony LaFrazier; a devoted niece, Tina Jaynes; a dear friend, Marlene Huff; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
