Paul Kelly, Jr. 82, of Waterbury, departed this life August 9, 2008.
Born in Robin, SC, September 14, 1925, he was the son of the late Paul and Georgia Kelly Sr.
Prior to retiring, he was proprietor of several businesses within the New Haven and Waterbury areas.
He was predeceased by his wife Bertha M. Kelly and his son Maurice “Reese” Kelly.
He is survived by his daughters, Loretta “Ginger” Arotsky (Cary), Paulette Kelly and Karen Ballard; sisters, Mae Soares (John) and Louise Joiner (Benjamin); seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mr. Kelly’s life and legacy will be held Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 9:30 A.M. at Dixwell Congregational United Church of Christ, 217 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 8:30-9:30 A.M. Burial in State Veterans’ Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Dixwell Congregational United Church of Christ.
Willie Vasquez
1957 - 2007
Willie Vasquez, 49, of New Haven, departed this life March 27, 2007.
Born in New Haven, CT, December 24, 1957, he was the son of Magdaleno Vasquez and Paula Villanueva Luna.
He is survived by children, Willie, Jr., Paula Vasquez Sutton, Diana Vasquez Boyd, Ebony, Terrance, Maria and Victoria Boyd; siblings, Jennie Rivera, Mary Leon, Alice Vasquez Phelmetta, Theresa Arroyo, Delio and Ramon Vasquez, Benito Luna, Jr. and Bernard Luna; 10 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Vasquez.
A celebration of Mr. Vasquez's life and legacy will be held Monday, April 2, 2007, at 11:00 am at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mary Maxine Howard
1950- 2006
Mary Maxine Howard, 55, of New Haven, passed away peacefully at Yale New Haven Hospital on April 27, 2006. She was the beloved wife of Alvin J. Howard for 35 years.
Mrs. Howard was born in Farmville, NC, on December 30, 1950, daughter of the late Mary Crandell and stepdaughter of the late Julius Crandell, Sr.
She was previously employed at Harborside Health Care, Willows, in Woodbridge, CT.
Mary was a faithful member of Christ Chapel New Testament Church where she served as a greeter and was affiliated with the Women's Prayer Retreat Choir.
In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Tonya E. Howard of New Haven; brothers, Larry "Donnell" Joyner, Tommy Joyner and Charles Crandell all of New Haven and Ronnie Crandell of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sisters, Peggy, Brenda and Sheila Crandell all of New Haven; in-laws, Mr. & Mrs. Charlie (Frances) Moore of Bethel, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; and a special sister in-law, prayer partner and friend, Mary "Pat" Joyner. She was predeceased by a brother, Julius "Ishray" Crandell, Jr.

Clarice Marie Huff
Clarice Marie Huff departed this life April 10, 2007. She was the devoted wife of Robert Alan Huff, Sr.
Clarice worked at Winchester Repeating Arms until her retirement in 1994.
In addition to her husband she leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Robert A. Huff, Jr. (Linda), Deborah Jackson (William), Karryn Huff-Rivers, Pamela Huff, David Huff (Donna) and Kevin Huff (Doris); one brother-in-law, Clarence Huff (Ann); one sister-in-law, Barbara Huff-Clark (George); 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Louise Best
1918 - 2007
Louise Best, 89, of 330 Amity Road, Woodbridge, departed this life May 20, 2007. She was the widow of Charlie Best.
Born April 10, 1918, in Greenville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Butler Ward and Rachel Pierce.
Mrs. Best was a longtime resident of Brooklyn, NY and worked for many years as a seamstress in the New York City garment industry.
Louise leaves to mourn, a loving family; her daughter, Alma Cain (Audley) of Guilford; a grandson, Darryl Cain (Cherie) of Melrose, MA; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
A celebration of Mrs. Best's life and legacy will be held Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 11:00 am at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will be Friday in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
Angel Sade Fonseca

Angel Sade Fonseca, infant daughter of Sammy Fonseca and Natasha Munoz, departed this life February 15, 2010.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Jomar Alexis Vazquez; grandparents, Maria Fonseca, David Fonseca, Nancy Munoz and Roberto Munoz; great grandmother, Luz Lopez; great grandfather, Marcial Flores; six uncles; and two aunts.

Milton Earl "Blood" Carr
1944 - 2006
Milton Earl "Blood" Carr, 61, of Hamden, departed this life on July 6, 2006. He was the husband of Helen Jean Williams Carr.
Mr. Carr was born in New Haven, CT, on October 19, 1944. He was the son of the late Roy and Ruth Carmon Carr.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a carpenter by Carpenters Local #24
Mr. Carr was an Army veteran and was a member of Pitts Chapel UFWB Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived daughters, Sherry Bryant (Jerry) and Melody Carr (Eric); stepsisters, Beverly Wilson and Alice Lee; grandchildren, Jenay Bryant and Erica Carr; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a stepbrother, Roy Carr.

Monique C. Eichler
1983 - 2006
Monique C. Eichler, 23, of New Haven, departed this life on October 21, 2006, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New Haven, CT on February 2, 1983, she was the beloved daughter of Marjorie Eichler.
Monique attended Celentano School and later graduated from Wilbur Cross High School. She was proud to have become a registered voter.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by siblings, Vanessa, Emily, Sonia, Veronica, Chantel, Jolie, Chi, Zephaniah, Melissa, Carlos, Richard, Steven, Romelo, Antonio and Sam, all of New Haven, Diana of New Britain, Dennis (Joy) of New Castle, DE and Eric of San Diego, CA; nieces, Jasmine, Preanna, Brianna, Allysa, and Sania; nephews, Dennis and Stephan; and her godmother, Diana Beardsley of Hamden.

Mont Day, 69, of New Haven, departed this life on August 18, 2006.
Mr. Day was born in Oriskany, VA, on April 12, 1937, son of the late Berford Day and Alice Hickenbottom.
He had been employed by Winchester Repeating Arms and was also an Army veteran.
Mr. Day is survived by his children, Kellie Graham, David T. White and Chris Day; and other relatives and friends.

William "Bill" Foy, Jr.
William "Bill" Foy, Jr., of Newhall St., Hamden, entered into peaceful rest on Monday, December 12, 2005, at Yale New Haven Hospital. William was the son of the late William and Ella Foy. He was a native of New Haven where he resided for 75 years. Bill was self-employed over 50 years as owner and operator of London System Chimney Cleaning. He was an avid fisherman and he loved cooking.
He leaves a brother, James Carr of Bridgeport; several nieces and nephews; 2 brothers-in-law; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. He was predeceased by sisters, Sylvia Scudder and Elizabeth Mitchell. Bill was well loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Calvin T. Lewis
1944 - 2005
Calvin T. Lewis, of North Haven, entered eternal rest at his home, surrounded by family, on November 17, 2005. He was the devoted husband of Nadine Goforth Lewis and beloved father of Monique and Tyra Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was born in Hemingway, SC, March 6, 1944, youngest son of Rosa Beckmon Lewis and the late Willie Lewis.
Calvin was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 40 years.
In addition to his wife, children and mother, he is survived by brothers, Josh Lewis of Baltimore, MD, Cleo (Nella) Lewis and Willie Beckmon Lewis of Hemingway, SC and James (Beatrice) Lewis of New Haven, CT; a sister, Stella Lewis of Johnsonville, SC; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at 10am at Union Temple Church, 54 Platt St. (corner of Platt and Elm St.), New Haven. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
Mary Goins
Mary Goins, of New Haven, died November 14, 2005. She was the wife of Martin Goins.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Catherine Lilly; children, Christopher Goins of New Haven, Angela Goins of Monroe, NC and Daphine and Karen Goins both of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Monet Gandy and Maleka, Janai, Shamon and Chrishaun Goins; and other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Alphonzo Lilly and a son, Johnny Luther Goins.
