Robert Pollard
1935 - 2006

Robert Pollard, 70, of New Haven, departed this life on January 2, 2006.
He was the widower of Emma Lee Allen Pollard.
Mr. Pollard was born June 4, 1935, in Gold Hill, AL, son of the late Elijah and Willie Pearl Pollard.
He had been employed as a cable technician by Cable Waves Co.
He is survived by a son, Michael Long; sisters, Josie Woods and Minister Dorothy Hill; and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Pollard and 2 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2006, at 1pm at Friendship Baptist Church, 26 Edwards St., Hamden. Friends may call at the church from 12pm-1pm. Burial Monday at 9am in Hamden Plains Cemetery.

Harvey L. Middleton
1918 - 2009

Harvey L. Middleton, of New Haven, CT, entered eternal rest on February 8, 2009 while in Connecticut Hospice in Branford after a valiant battle with illness.
Harvey was born to the late John and Lillie Middleton in Kenansville, North Carolina. His family resided for many years in Goldsboro, N.C.
Harvey received his undergraduate degree from Hampton University. He pursued a Graduate degree at the Universities of Chicago and Buffalo where he earned a Master's in Social Work.
As a social worker, Harvey served children in the West Haven Public School System for 24 years until his retirement in 1992.
During his residence in New Haven, Harvey was a parishioner of St. Brendan’s and most recently, St. Mary’s Catholic Churches. He enjoyed singing in the choir.
A lover of the arts, Harvey ushered at New Haven’s Shubert Theater during his retirement. From his earnings he was able to establish a perpetual scholarship at Winston-Salem State University in honor of his mother, Lillie Middleton.
Harvey enjoyed the beauty of God’s creation and was an avid gardener, earning him recognition as one of “the Best” gardens in New Haven, one year.
Earlier in his life, Harvey served his country in the United States Army where he received an honorable discharge. His military experience helped foster a love for traveling, which Harvey pursued throughout his lifetime.
Harvey will be deeply missed by a host of family and friends especially his two children, Lisa Middleton Brown (Elkridge, MD) and David Harvey Middleton (New Haven, CT). He is also survived by one sister, R. LaVerne Furlow (Hampton, VA); his nephew, Dwayne (Rore) Middleton (Fairfield, CT) and niece, Taritha Middleton (Milford, CT), his son-in-law, Marlon W. Brown and his former wife and friend, Eloise L. Middleton (Branford, CT). Harvey also leaves three grandsons, Matthew, Nicolas and Joel.
Harvey was predeceased by his parents and three sisters: Eloise, Reba and Taritha and three brothers: Abraham Vincent, Theodore and Johnnye (and Bettye) Middleton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 14, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 5 Hillhouse Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to LEAP, 31 Jefferson St., New Haven, CT 06511.

Laula Armond
1933 - 2009

Laula Armond, 75, of New Haven, departed this life July 25, 2009. She was the widow of Rufus Armond.
Born in Oriental, NC, November 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Earl Jones and Esther Cooper.
Prior to retiring, she was employed by the State of Connecticut as a Homemaker for 20 years.
Mrs. Armond is survived by a son, Maurice Armond; a special niece, Sandra Maxsine Dixon (William) of New Haven; a special nephew, Calvin Jones (Stephanie) of New Haven; brothers, James Jones (Mary) of New York, NY, William Mack Jones (Yvonne) and Robert Earl Jones (Sophia) both of Oriental, NC and Russell Jones (Marva) of Mesic, NC; two grandchildren, Shanique and Monaya Armond; goddaughters, Carole Foster and Tailor Coward; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys and Martha Jones, Queenie Smith and Mary Cooper.
A celebration of Mrs. Armond's life and legacy will be held Friday, July 31, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew's UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Terrie L. Fair Allen
1961 - 2006

Terrie L. Fair Allen, 45, of Bridgeport, CT, died on May 14, 2006. She was the wife of Lynoval "Bussie" Allen.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Rosa M. Lee Fair; daughters, Keiara Waller and Ayja Allen; stepchildren, Steve, Natalie and Everton Allen; 2 brothers; 4 sisters; and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father, James Fair, Sr. and a brother, James Fair., Jr.
A funeral service in celebration of Terrie's life will be held Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 9 AM at Trinity Temple Church, 285 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 8-9 AM. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Brandon Williams
1981 - 2007

Brandon Williams, 25, of Pine Rock Ave., Hamden, departed this life January 3, 2007.
Born in Compton, CA on April 13, 1981, he was the son of Michele Yezik and William Williams.
He resided in the New Haven area most of his life.
Brandon was an avid cyclist and was well known in the cycling community. His places of employment included Devil's Gear Bike Shop and Edge of the Woods Health Food Store.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Brett Williams.
A memorial service celebrating Brandon's life will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 11:00 am at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.

Mildred O. Davis

Mildred O. Davis (Libby), 64, departed this life on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.
A memorial service celebrating Ms. Davis' life will be held Saturday, January 20, 2007, at 1 PM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven, CT.

Rodney Arthur Hundley
1967 - 2006

Rodney Arthur Hundley, 38, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of New Haven, departed this life on January 31, 2006. He was the husband of Eboney Stewart-Hundley.
Mr. Hundley was born October 27, 1967, in New Haven, CT, son of Madeline Hundley Harris.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Marquette Stewart; a sister, Lynn Harris; maternal grandmother, Madeline Hundley; an uncle, Clarence Joe Hundley; an aunt, Edith "Sister" Rawls; and a host of great uncles, great aunts; cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Arthur Thomas Hundley.
A funeral service in celebration of Rodney's life will be held Friday, February 10, 2006, at 11am at Church of Christ, 16 Gem St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10am-11am. Burial in Hamden Plains Cemetery.

Elizabeth Harrison Woods

Elizabeth Harrison Woods, 87, of New Haven, died February 2, 2006.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Woods; a son, Gilbert Harrison; a sister, Hattie Blanding; 3 grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service in celebration of Elizabeth's life will be held February 9, 2006, at 11am at Mt. Zion Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 64 Marlboro St., Hamden. Friends may call at the church from 10am-11am. Burial in Hamden Plains Cemetery.

John Harold Greer, Sr.
1937 - 2007

John Harold Greer, Sr., 69, of New Haven, departed this life July 25, 2007.
Born in New Haven, CT, December 23, 1937, he was the son of the late Clyde G. Wactor and Frank John Greer.
Mr. Greer retired from the Regional Water Authority on March 31, 2006 after 32 years of service. He was a US Air Force veteran.
He leaves his loving wife, Joyce L. Greer; daughters, JoAnn D. Bryant (Anthony) of Kansas City, MO and Suzy R. Greer-McDowell (Dwayne) of New Haven; sons, John H. Greer, Jr. and Jason N. Greer (Stacy) both of New Haven and Peter C. Greer (Linda) of West Haven; brothers, McKinley Carter (Ruby) of New Haven and Emmett Carter of Long Beach, CA; sisters, Alice Myers of West Haven and Joan Hallums of New Haven; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his stepfather, Bruce Wactor and brothers, Larry and Wiley Carter.
A celebration of Mr. Greer's life and legacy will be held Monday, July 30, 2007 at 11:00 am at St. Paul & St. James Episcopal Church, 57 Olive St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 9:00-11:00 am. Burial in Hamden Plains Cemetery.

Andrew A. "Fatts" Dawson
1961- 2005

Andrew A. "Fatts" Dawson, 44, of Winchester Ave., New Haven, departed this life on December 24, 2005.
Mr. Dawson was born September 28, 1961, in New Haven, CT, son of William L. Dawson and the late Burnestine Campbell Dawson.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a daughter, Shymar Avery; granddaughter, Zamari Spearman; brothers, William M. Dawson, William L. Dawson II and Anthony "Tony" Dawson; a sister, Wanda Dawson; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 29, 2005, at 11am at St. Matthew's Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 9am-11am. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Merle Jacenta Graham
1928 - 2008

Merle Jacenta Graham, 79, of Hamden, entered into eternal rest on October 12, 2008 at CT Hospice.
Born on November 11, 1928 in Eleuthera, Bahamas, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Effie Graham.
Prior to retiring in 1993, she was employed at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY as a Medical Technologist.
She leaves to mourn, sisters, Veronica Foster of Hamden, Hilda Cabell of New Rochelle, NY and Elaine Scavella and Patricia Graham both of Nassau, Bahamas; brothers, Leon, Winston and Kermith Graham, all of Nassau, Bahamas; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as many friends.
Her sisters, Mavis Graham and Shirley Parris; and brothers, Calvin Graham, Jr. and George Graham, preceded her in death.
A celebration of Ms. Graham's life will be held Friday, October 17, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 704 Whitney Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
