Anthony D. Carter

Anthony D. Carter, Sr., 45, of Shelton Ave., New Haven, went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2006 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Danielle Tate Carter.
Born in New Haven, CT on June 29, 1961, he was the son of the late Lillian Carter Wilson.
He was employed by Milford Transit as a bus operator for over ten years and was a member of Wayfaring Ministries in Hamden.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Rollie Johnson, Tenia Carter Hoheb (Jovan), Anthony Carter, Jr. (Crystal), Tevia, Tenevia and Daniel Carter; a sister, Tonya Wilson; brothers, Jimmie Wilson, III, Treg and Kenta Wilson; a foster son, Andre Armour; a grandchild, Daniel Carter, Jr.; an aunt, Marcia Northrop; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be truly missed by his family, church members and co-workers.
A funeral service celebrating Anthony's life and legacy will be held Saturday, September 30, 2006, at 9 AM at Christ Chapel New Testament Church, 220 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 8-9 AM. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Theresa D. Bethea
1968 - 2009
Theresa D. Bethea, 40, of New Haven, departed this life September 11, 2009.
Born in New Haven, CT, November 12, 1968, she was the daughter of Theodis and Corine Bethea of Latta, SC.
She was employed by AT&T as a Customer Service Representative.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Darryl M. Bethea of Las Vegas, NV.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 19, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Friends may call Friday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Burial will be private.
Shirley Ann Coleman
1938 - 2010
Shirley Ann Coleman, 71, of West Haven, departed this life September 2, 2010.
Born in Bishopville, SC, November 2, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Robert Martin, Sr. and Lottie Butler.
She was employed for numerous years as a Private Duty Nurse.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Toni Ann Nixon of New Haven, Denise Glenn of Columbus, GA and Kevin Martin of New Haven; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Martin, Jr.; and a grandson, Christopher "Pep" Senior.
Funeral service and burial will be private. Family and friends are invited to attend a repast Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 28 North St., Milford. Shirley Viola Knotts Smith

Shirley Viola Knotts Smith, 95, of West Haven, departed this life May 12, 2010. She was widow of Jerome Smith.
Born in Wadesboro, NC, November 12, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Clem and Ella Knotts.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at American Linen for 33 years.
She was a member of Christian Training and Healing Center.
Mrs. Smith leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Apostle Roberta Jordan Knotts (Bernis), Gladys Fountain and Clarissa "Jody" Council (Walter); a son, Antoine Antrum; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a son, Burnest Antrum; a daughter, Mary Mewborn; brothers, Samuel, Julius, Claude, Harvey and Jessie Knotts; and sisters, Mary Ellerbe and Daisy Smith.

Shirley Irene "Mutt" Carr

Shirley Irene "Mutt" Carr, 70, of Hamden, departed this life June 12, 2010.
Born in Fredericksburg, VA, June 30, 1939, she was the daughter of the late William Byrd and Elderess Carrie Burruss Gray.
She was employed for numerous years by the Visiting Nurses Association as a Home Health Aide.
Ms. Carr was a member of Morning Star Deliverance Ministries.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Usha Carr, Jr. (Veronica Lynn); grandchildren, Ulysses, Sydney and Ushonna Carr and Pierre Benson; a great grandchild, Bernard George, Jr.; brothers, Charles Gibbs and Joseph Armstead; sisters, Vera Ruggerio, Catherine Thigpen, Joanne Edwards, Barbara Miller, Christine Burruss and Beverly Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Daphne Carr and a brother, Stan Burruss.

Johnnie Ross

Johnnie Ross, 87, of New Haven, formerly of Ansonia, departed this life August 13, 2009.
Mr. Ross was born in Darlington, SC, April 15, 1922.
He was employed at New Haven Copper for numerous years and was also a WWII Army veteran.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

James “Jimmy” Roach, 72, of New Haven, departed this life March 3, 2010. He was the husband of Maria Roach.
Born in Horry, SC, January 19, 1938, he was the son of the late George C. and Ruth Ella Roach.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at U.S. Surgical Corp. as a Team Leader.
Mr. Roach was a member of Ebenezer Gospel Assembly in Bridgeport.
In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Kevin and Keith Roach; daughters, Beverly and Sylvia Roach; brothers, Willie and George Roach; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Woodrow, Henry and Robert Roach; and sisters, Lula Mae, Betty and Rebecca Roach and Elizabeth Hawkins.

Born in Hailfax County, NC, December 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Jimmy and Lelia Silver.
She was employed as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant.
Mrs. Pullen leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Thomas Pullen; children, Angela Pullen Heath, Carlton Pullen, Thomas Pullen, Jr. and Prophetess Ecclesiastes Marquez; brothers, Donald and Jimmy Silver; sisters, Maebelle and Maggie Richardson, Cora Davis and Jamilah Wali; nineteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mary F. Patterson, 77, of Hamden, departed this life December 3, 2009.
Born in Anson County, NC, January 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Esiah and Estella Flake Ingram.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at U.S. Repeating Arms as a Machine Operator. She was a longtime member of St. Matthew's UFWB Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Cynthia Patterson; a son, Harvest Ingram; brothers, Rev. James W. Flake, Sr. and Esiah Ingram, Jr.; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald H. Ingram.

Nellie B. Morton, 74, of Hamden, departed this life June 15, 2010. She was the beloved wife of Rev. Richard D. Morton, Sr.
Born in Athens, GA, March 29, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Willie B. and Nellie Mae Glenn.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at Schick Warner-Lambert as a Machine Operator.
Mrs. Morton was a member of Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church for 50 years where she served as a member of the Diaconate Board, Flower Club, Pastor's Aide, Baptism Committee, and was a Sunday School Teacher.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Bishop Richard D. Morton, Jr. (Ayileru Alikor-Morton) and Elder Reginald Morton (Maria); brothers, David and Samuel Glenn; sisters, Henrietta Jackson, Lucille Sanders and Helen Cook; four grandchildren, Richard D. Morton III, Steven-Daniel Morton, Jasmine Morton and Jenaya Morton; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by brothers, John C. Glenn, Sr., George Glenn and Willie Glenn.
