John F. Hayes, 88, of Meriden, departed this life November 7, 2009. He was the widower of Lendoria Rodgers Hayes.
Born in Dillon, SC, September 8, 1921, he was a son of the late John and Pearle Hayes.
Prior to retiring, he was employed by Leo Keller Co. as a Meat Cutter. Mr. Hayes was a WWII Army veteran.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Rosalie Hill; a brother, Stacey Hayes; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Jesse, Neil and James Hayes; and a sister, Agnes Paige.
A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Hayes' life and legacy will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 2:00 P.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.
Trinitee Danae Williams
2009 - 2009
Trinitee Danae Williams, infant daughter of Jenne'a Williams, was born November 11, 2009 at Yale New Haven Hospital and departed this life November 21, 2009.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Murline Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her twin brother, Tristan Daylonte Williams.
Private graveside service was held at Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Tristan Daylonte Williams, infant son of Jenne'a Williams, was born November 11, 2009 at Yale New Haven Hospital and departed this life shortly after birth.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his twin sister, Trinitee Danae Williams; his maternal grandmother, Murline Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Private services were held at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home.
Yvonne Lois Moore
1959 - 2009
Yvonne Lois Moore, 50, of West Haven, departed this life October 1, 2009.
Born in Columbia, SC, July 14, 1959, she was the daughter of Virginia C. Moore and the late Garfield Johnson.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at AT&T as a Billing Representative.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Damon Graham; daughters, Kimberly and Carolyn Graham; sisters, Donna Files (Linwood), Charlene Graham and Evelyn Moore; three grandchildren; the father of her children, Howien Dean Graham; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Ms. Moore’s life and legacy will be held Thursday, October 8, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
David Lyons, Jr.
1925 - 2009
David Lyons, Jr., 84, of New Haven, departed this life September 3, 2009. He was the widower of Annie Lyons.
Born in Bladenboro, NC, July 5, 1925, he was the son of the late David Lyons, Sr. and Leacey Lyons.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at Yale University in the Custodial Services Dept. and had also been employed by Jenkins Brothers Valves Co. for over 33 years.
He was a member of Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board for many years.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Ernie, Tilden and Henry Derek Lyons; daughters, Denise Teague and Barbara Longhorn; brothers, Livingston Lyons, Ivan Lyons, Rev. Isaiah Lyons and Alphonso Lyons; sisters, Vivian Bonner and Alberta Jennings; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by sons, Ledell, Cleo and Rodney Lyons; brothers, Nathan and Matthew Lyons; and a sister, Maggie McCollum.
A celebration of Mr. Lyons' life and legacy will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 100 Webster St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Russell B. Johnson
1926 - 2009
Russell B. Johnson, 83, of Hamden, departed this life September 25, 2009. He was the husband of Elizabeth "Betty" Brito Johnson.
Born in New Haven, CT, August 26, 1926, he was the son of the late William Thomas Johnson and Edith Boyd Johnson McDaniels, and stepson of the late Edward McDaniels.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at A.R. Webber and also Elm City Plumbing as a Truck Driver.
He was a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Newhallville Congregation.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Russell B. Johnson, Jr. (Camera) and Leonard E. Johnson (Amelia); daughters, Rosalind Stanley, Deborah Frasier (Larry), Betty L. Johnson, Diane Johnson (fiance, Gerard Grate) and Elena Brito; a brother, Leonard "Pete" E. Johnson; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 3, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 885 Wintergreen Ave., Hamden. Viewing and visitation will be held at the Hall from 9:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be private.
Dorothy J. Gatison Smith
1938 - 2009
Dorothy J. Gatison Smith, 71, of Hamden, departed this life September 27, 2009.
Born in Darlington, SC, July 30, 1938, she was the daughter of the late George and Oneatha Kettle Gatison.
Ms. Smith was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a Machine Operator for numerous years and was a longtime member of Joy Temple Church of Christ in Prayer.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Earl Smith; daughters, Francine and Michelle Smith; brothers, Lucious and Roosevelt Gatison; sisters, Mary Hall, Maggie Ings, Lizzie McKay and Charlena Wilson; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Smith; brothers, George and Nelson Gatison; and sisters, Eva Bell Bishop and Oneatha Phillips.

Etta Mae Allen

Etta Mae Allen, 90, of New Haven, departed this life September 26, 2009. She was the widow of George Thomas Allen, Jr.
Born in Hawkinsville, GA, July 24, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Lucious and Martha McBurrows.
Prior to retiring, she was employed for 20 years at the V.A. Medical Center as a Dietary Aide and was also a member at St. Matthew's UFWB Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, John Thomas Allen; daughters, Mary Ann Curtis and Jeannette Coe (Robert); a special niece "daughter", Margaret Maynard; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jean Grant; brothers, Herman, Archie and Clem McBurrows; and sisters, Essie Vason and Amanda Wilson.
A celebration of Mrs. Allen's life and legacy will be held Saturday, October 3, 2009, at 9:00 A.M. at St. Matthew's UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 8:00-9:00 A.M. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Boston Brown

Boston Brown, 84, of New Haven, departed this life February 7, 2009. He was the widower of Maebell A. Brown.
Born in Georgetown, SC, September 27, 1924, he was the son of the late Boston and Rebecca Brown.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at Eastern Press, Inc. as a Truck Driver.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his sons, Paul, Boston Jr., Joshua, Charles, Darrell and David Earl Brown; daughters, Linda Tucker, Mary Brown, Jacqueline McGhee, Janie Mae Wright, Sadie Flowers, Ashley Floyd and Rachelle Brodie; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Edward Brown; a brother; two sisters; and a grandson.
A celebration of Mr. Brown's life and legacy will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at Bethel AME Church, 255 Goffe St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Burial will be Saturday in Georgetown, SC.
Annette Browning
1946 - 2009
Annette Browning, 63, of Hamden, departed this life September 29, 2009.
Born in Rocky Mount, NC, January 29, 1946, she was the daughter of Desoree Alston Sumler and the late Benjamin A. Sumler.
Mrs. Browning was employed for numerous years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a DOT Inspector.
In addition to her mother, she leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Freddie Browning; sons, Steven Browning and Andre Browning (Terrell); a daughter, Allecia Browning; a brother, Benjamin A. Sumler, Jr.; a sister, Christine Smith (Willie); seven grandchildren; a great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Mrs. Browning's life and legacy will be held Sunday, October 4, 2009, at 5:00 P.M. at Bible Gospel Center, 143 Leeder Hill Dr., Hamden. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 3:00-5:00 P.M. Burial will be Monday at 10:00 A.M. in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
