Johnnie L. Mouning
1938 - 2007
Johnnie L. Mouning, age 69, Pastor of Effectual Prayer Word Ministries, Inc. in North Branford, departed this life September 18, 2007 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Thelma Mouning.
Born July 3, 1938, in Greenville, NC, he was the son of the late John Lacy and Naomi Mouning.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at Yale University as a Research Associate and was most recently employed as a consultant.
In addition to his loving wife of 50 years, he leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Marvin (DeEtta), Gregory, Jeffrey (Linda) and Kenneth Mouning (Rose-Marie); brothers, Rev. John William Mouning (Rovena) and Bishop Curtis Mouning; a sister, Sarah Gibbs; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Pastor Mouning's life and legacy will be held Monday, September 24, 2007 at 10:30am at Trinity Temple COGIC, 285 Dixwell Ave., New Haven, CT. Friends may call at the church from 9:00am – 10:30am. Burial will follow the service in Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven.

Lynoria McKay
1960 - 2008
Lynoria McKay, 47, of New Haven, departed this life January 6, 2008.
Born in New Haven, CT, December 31, 1960, she was the daughter of Lizzie Gatison McKay and the late Bishop Henry McKay.
She was employed by the former Winthrop Continuing Care Center.
In addition to her mother, she leaves to cherish her memories, a sister, Patricia McKay; brothers, John and Ronald McKay; a half-sister, Natasha Little; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry McKay, Jr.
A celebration of Lynoria's life will be held Friday, January 11, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Love Temple Church, 75 Fresh Meadow Rd., West Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
William Felder, Sr.
1935 - 2007
William Felder, Sr., 72, of New Haven, CT, departed this life November 5, 2007. He was the husband of Ida Mae Felder for 51 years.
Born in Manning, SC, November 3, 1935, he was the son of the late Willie C. and Mary Conyers Felder.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Felder was employed for 47 years as a Chef at Yale University Dining Hall at Trumbull College and Kingsley Trust.
He was a member of St. Matthew's UFWB Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Felder was also a member of Widow's Son Lodge #1, Royal Arch Masons and a lifetime member of the NAACP.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, William Jr., Larry, Alan, Bruce, Ronald, Linda, Beverly, Pamela, and Monique Felder, and Carol Felder-Anderson; a brother, Samuel Felder; sisters, Oneather and Sylvia "Dolly" Felder; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by sons, Craig and Kelvin Felder; a brother, Willie C. Felder; sisters, Lillie Mae, Amy and Louise Felder; and a grandchild.

Linola M. Johnson Smith
1913 - 2008
Linola M. Johnson Smith, 94, of New Haven, departed this life March 17, 2008. She was the widow of Bruce Smith.
Born in Greenville, NC, April 19, 1913, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Johnson and Florence Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Jimmie Johnson (Lola Johnson); five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.

Dalma A. Kinsey, Jr.

Dalma A. Kinsey, Jr., 40, of New Haven, departed this life September 21, 2007.
Born in New Haven, CT, November 11, 1966, he was the son of Dalma A. Kinsey, Sr. and Betty G. Kinsey.
Mr. Kinsey was employed at AT&T as a Customer Service Representative.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Monica Holloway, Tonia Beamon and Delmira Lucas; paternal grandmother, Reather Kinsey; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Preston Kinsey and maternal grandparents, Walter and Martha Hailey.

Paul Johnson, Jr.
1962 - 2008
Paul Johnson, Jr., 45, of Hamden, departed this life March 8, 2008.
Born in Bridgeport, CT, August 27, 1962, he was the son of Virginia Sadler and the late Paul Johnson, Sr.
Prior to his illness, he was employed at the New Haven Register as a Pressman.
In addition to his mother, he leaves to cherish his memories, brothers, Frederick Johnson (Lawanda), Kim and Lester Johnson, John Gallatin and Willie Sadler, Jr.; sisters, Joanne Johnson (Ronald) and Valerie Johnson, Louise Little and Stella Williams (Norris); his longtime companion, Karen Pekari; his stepfather, Willie Sadler, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a brother in-law, William Little.

Larry A. Ferrell
1946 - 2007
Larry A. Ferrell, 61, of New Haven, CT, departed this life October 10, 2007.
Born in New Haven, CT, July 1, 1946, he was the son of Chester Bordeaux and the late Louisa Gomes Ferrell.
Larry was a world renown dancer, appearing on Broadway with Pearl Bailey in "Hello Dolly" and with dance greats Cab Calloway and Honey Coles. He also had the opportunity to perform with Dr. Pearl Primus, one of the foremost authorities on African Culture at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.
Larry taught dance in New Haven for over two decades primarily to minority children and youth starting at the "Q" House. He also taught classes at Trinity College in Hartford, Dee Dee's Dance and Fitness Center and several schools within the City of New Haven's School System.
In addition to his father, he is survived by brothers, Antonio, Romero (Cynthia) and Theodore (Deborah) Perry, John and Rishaud (Constance) Gomes and Emmanuel Ferrell; a loving aunt, Ruth Gallon; a devoted uncle, Paul Gomes (Delilah); a special cousin, Paula Gomes McCall (Nathan); other siblings, many nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
He was predeceased by a brother, Sherman Perry; his sister, Helen Vera Gomes; grandparents, Helen Keyes and Paulo Gomes DaGama; and an aunt, Viola Gomes Foster.
A celebration of Larry's life will be held Saturday, November 10, 2007, at 1:00 PM at the Curtis M. Cofield Christian Life Center (Immanuel Baptist Church), 1324 Chapel St., New Haven.
Mary Louise Spruill
1935 - 2008
Mary Louise Spruill, 72, of New Haven, departed this life March 25, 2008. She was the widow of Clifton C. Spruill.
Born in Edenton, NC, August 5, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Helen Murray Bonner.
She leaves to cherish her memories, sons, Timothy, Melvin (Janie), Kenneth, Marvin and Kevin Spruill; daughters, Deborah Spruill-Watters (Edward "Barney"), Tearies Willoughby (Clarence), Alma, Joyce and Joann Spruill; a brother, Carleton Bonner; a sister, Delores Bonner; 28 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Harry "Buddy" Bonner, Jr.

Annie M. Smith-Norwood

Annie M. Smith-Norwood, 82, of New Haven, quietly entered into eternal rest on February 15, 2008. She was the widow of Oregon Norwood.
Born in Cedartown, GA, March 27, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Sara Morrison.
Prior to retiring in 1990, she was employed for 25 years at U.S. Repeating Arms as a Machine Operator.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, a son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Liz Smith of Cambria Heights, NY; a daughter, Donna Benson of Hamden; a son-in-law, Jack Allen; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, sisters Mildred Moore, Barbara Johnson and Sara Dirton; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Barbara Morrison; and a special cousin, Janice (Horace) Laster. She also leaves sisters-in-law Beatrice Kindred, Cobleskill, NY; Thelma Hendley, Jacksonsville, FL; Debbie Morgan, New York, NY and brothers-in-law Fred Norwood, West Haven, CT; and Robert Norwood, Hamden, CT; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Samuel J. Smith; daughters, Sandra Joyner-Graham and Jan Allen; and a son, Gerald Smith.
A celebration of Mrs. Smith-Norwood’s life and legacy will be held Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Chapel Church, 220 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Burial will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. There will be no calling hours. Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
Letticia Lynn Corley
1968 - 2008
Letticia Lynn Corley, 40, formerly of Stamford, passed into eternal rest with the Lord on April 27, 2008.
She was born on March 3, 1968 to Shirley Diane Corley and Linzelle Bynes.
Letticia attended Stamford High School and graduated in 1986. She also attended the University of Bridgeport with Honorary Dean's List achievement.
She worked for UBS Warburg, Northeast Division for 10 years.
Letticia was such an intelligent, beautiful, witty and caring person. She was a member of the Apostolic Church of New Haven.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two loving sons, Keenan Schmell Corley and Kieran Shakur Sangster; a grandson, Kaniye Corley; her sister, Janel Renee Corley; a brother, Thomas Linzelle Bynes; two nieces, Erica Shelena Hinds and Tamika Renee Corley; a nephew, Jonathan Tyrell Corley; a great nephew, Xaquon Curry; her maternal grandmother, Geraldine Christine Corley; her loving aunts and uncles; Edward Corley (Kathy), Joseph Corley, James Corley, Darlene Kelly-Corley (Robert), Olinda Corley, Mark Corley, Nichelle Brown (Fred), Lisa Corley and Geraldine Corley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Edward Clay Corley and uncle John Corley.
A celebration of Letticia's life will be held, Monday, May 5, 2008 at 11:00 am at Faith Tabernacle Church, 29 Grove Street, Stamford. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 am. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery, 66 Woodland Place, Stamford.
