Lee and his wife Oy Ngan Wong Lee of Hamden, sister-in-law of Sik Fong Lee of New Haven, grandmother of Eileen Lee, Dennis Chan, William Chan, Jenny Wai, David Chan and John Chan. Also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Joseph Robert "Bob" Hildrich, 84, of 22 Masonic Ave., Wallingford, formerly of West Haven passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 at MidState Hospital, Meriden. He was the husband of the late Mary Adelaide Cox Hildrich. Born in Bronx, NY, Feb. 2, 1919, son of the late Joseph Charles and Alma Pierce Hildrich. He was a Electronic Technician in the Physic's Department at Yale University and chief opersator of the heavy Ion Accelator Lab. Mr Hildrich was a 17 year member of the Annawon Lodge, #115 A.F.& A.M. in West Haven. He was also a member of the American Legion Post # 39, of Westville-New Haven and a former member of the Company Commander, New Haven Greys CO.A, 1st. Bn., 102nd. Inf. He was a veteran of WW II and Korea in the U.S. Army Infantry. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal on June 6, 1944. He retired in 1954 as a Captain having served in the Asiatic and Pacific during WW II and in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Robert Hildrich and Andrea Nadel and two grandaughters, Rachel A. Hildrich and Lena A. Hildrich all of Orange. He was predeceased by a sister, Alma M. Hildrich.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside service in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven, Wednesday, January 28th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR Funeral Home, 410 Campbell Ave. at Court St., West Haven Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:15. MERIDEN - Evelyn P. Haling, 8l, of 26 Ann View Terrace, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of Gerald C. Haling. Born in Meriden on Sept. 7, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William Frederick and Frances Elizabeth Rodauch Priebe. She was a 1940 graduate of Meriden High School and had been employed as a secretary at Cooper Thermometer Company in Middlefield. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Paul Demers of Windsor; two grandchildren, Alison and Jill Demers of Windsor and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Priebe Kay and three brothers, Harold Priebe, Raymond Priebe and Walter Priebe.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Perry L. Beaver will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.

In CT Hospice, Branford, Feb. 17, 2004, George Valentine, 84, husband of 62 years to Marjorie McFarland Valentine of 75 Washington Ave., Hamden. Father and father-in-law of Sandi and Jack Cunningham of Wallingford and Douglas W. Valentine of Brooklyn, CT and grandfather of Ross B. Cunningham of Wallingford. George was born in New Haven, Nov. 29, 1919, son of the late George W. and Mary Nesbit Valentine. He was an Army Veteran having served during WW II. He was a banker and was in charge of collections at the former Bank of Boston where he worked for over 25 years. Earlier in his career he was vice-president of the former Valentine & Kolb Jewelers. George was an active member of Adelphi-Momauguin Lodge #63 A.F. & A.M. and a member of Mystic Chapter #20 O.E.S., and was the manager and started the luncheon program at the Commons of Mill River Club. George was also an avid bowler for many years.
Funeral service Thurs., Feb. 19, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Dunbar United Church of Christ. Interment in Hamden Plains Cemetery. Norman Russell Shove, 82, of 109 Dawson Ave., West Haven died at Connecticut Hospice in Branford on Feb. 17, 2004 after a brief illness. He was born in New Haven on Nov. 26, 1921, son of the late John and Mae (Young) Shove. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to West Haven. In 1939, Norman graduated from the West Haven High School. He enlisted in the Merchant Marines, in 1942, shortly after the United States entered World War II. He served on various ships, transporting service men, medical personnel and supplies throughout the world. He met his future wife, Jean Orchard, in Cardiff Wales, in 1945, prior to receiving an honorable discharge. He worked for 35 years for the Coke-a-Cola Bottling Company, as a route manager and supervisor. Norman was active in the Methodist Church of West Haven for over 60 years. He was also active in the Republican Party in West Haven, and was recognized as "Republican of the Year, " in 2000. He was Chairman of the Third District's Civic and Social Association; a member of the RTM; a member of the Redevelopment Committee of West Haven - to revitalize Savin Rock; commissioner of the Housing Authority; and, he served on the Board of Tax Review for over twenty years. He was also a member of the American Legion. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching a ball game, walking along the beach, and visiting with family and friends. Besides his wife, Jean, of 56 years, he leaves behind his three children: Norman Kenneth Shove, Shirley Sisson and Pamela Hunter, his two grandchildren: Edwin and Jennifer Sisson, son-in-law, Douglas Hunter, and daughter-in-law, Susan Hathaway. He is survived by his brothers, Gordon and Elmer, his sisters, Ada Schilpp and Adele Anderson and numerous nephews and nieces. His sister, Irma Thomson and his brother, Kenneth predeceased him. Norman will be remembered as a kind, gentle, humble man who valued hard work, and who faced life's challenges with courage and optimism. He loved his family and friends, his church and his community. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will endure.

In Milford, Feb. 26, 2004, Ann M. Sega Berti, wife of Joseph A. Berti of 485 Alpom Dr., Orange, mother of David J. Berti of Orange and mother and mother-in-law of Carol Ann and Ray Schneider of Bethel, CT, sister of John Sega of West Haven. Also survived by two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two aunts, Grace Libretti and Lucy Ruppolo. Ann was born in New Haven, July 26, 1928, daughter of the late Louis and Antonia Libretti Sega. She graduated from Commercial High School Class of 1946 and retired in 1950 as a secretary from the law firm of Fitzgerald, Foote and Fitzgerald. Due to her illness she was away from her home for 24 years.

Mary Elizabeth Lauttenbach, 88, of 244 Indian River Rd., Orange, sister of Francis J. Lauttenbach of Wallingford and Walter D. Lauttenbach of Largo, FL. Also survived by five nephews and two nieces and their families. She was predeceased by brothers, Philip, Charles an Louis Lauttenbach. Mary was born in New Haven, Apri 5, 1915 a daughter of the late Louis L. and Sarah McDermott Lauttenbach. She was a secretary for SNET for 34 years and retired in 1974. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Church and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

MERIDEN - Amy Berry Hermann, 89, of 290 Swain Ave., died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at Miller Memorial Community. She was the wife of Emil Hermann. Born in Meriden on Dec. 11, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Amy Heineman Berry. She was a graduate of Meriden High School and had been employed as a bookkeeper for the Y.M.C.A., the former Play Pen, Resident's Store and Meriden Auction Rooms. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Friends of the Meriden Library. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Kreminski of Meriden; a son and his wife, Kurt and Eileen Hermann of Hebron, CT; a grandson and his wife, Michael and Kimberley Kreminski of Albany, Georgia; and she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Brainard.
A memorial service will be held Sat., Feb. 28, 2004 at 9 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden. The Rev. David R. Brinkley will officiate. MERIDEN - Mildred W. Fox, 97, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 at Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Christian F. Fox, Sr. Born in Meriden on Oct. 15, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Elbert M. and Nellie Wainwright Webb. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star #8, a member of the New England Women's Club and the Meriden Women's Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Laura F. Graham of Meriden; a son, Stuart W. Fox of Killingworth; fourteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Harriett W. Martindale of Washington State and Althea W. Jeter of Milford, NJ and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Christian F. Fox, Jr.; two sisters, Bernice W. Squire and Charlotte W. Burrows and a brother, Lester M. Webb.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Eric Henderson will officiate. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.

In New Haven, Feb. 23, 2004, Elizabeth "Betty" I. Cook, 87 of Care Ln., West Haven, wife of the late William G. Cook, devoted mother of Eileen Cook and sister, Nellie Wentworth both of West Haven also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Anna Bosco, Peggy Stannard and brothers, Frank, William and John Quinn and Joseph Lane. Betty was born in New Haven, June 8, 1916 a daughter of the late William and Inez Dowdell Quinn. She had worked as an inspector for the former Seamless Rubber Co. for 25 years retiring in 1975. She was a lifelong resident of West Haven and a parishoner of Our Lady of Victory Church.
