In Wallingford, July 1, 2003, Evelyn Noble Dahlgard, 100, of 22 Masonic Ave., formerly of Atwood Ave., West Haven, wife of the late Victor W. Dahlgard, mother of Shirley and her husband, Harold Michel of Bethany and James and his wife, Marilyn Dahlgard of West Haven. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Forbes and a brother, Ralph Noble. Evelyn was born in Naugatuck, July 1, 1903 a daughter of the late Burton and Elizabeth Stephenson Noble. She was a 75-year member of the First Congregational Church of West Haven and a 75-year member of Easter Star Golden Rod Chapter #34, O.E.S. of West Haven. She was a well-known artist in the West Haven area and had been a fashion illustrator for several of the New Haven department stores and also was an accomplished pianist and organist.
Funeral service Thursday, July 3, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of West Haven, 1 Church St., West Haven. Adeline B. Rybak, of Pine St., Meriden, wife of the late Frank Rybak passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27 at Westfield Care and Rehab Center surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Therdore and Barbara Oblon Bober. Prior to her retirememt she worked in the cafeteria of the International Silver Co., Factory E. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. The family would like to make a very special Thank-you to Stanley and Roberta Mickiewicz, Gerry Holmes for their daily support and comfort and also to Dr. Taraskevich and Mary Rogalski. Another thank-you goes out to Sister Marion for all her visits and prayers. Also, to our mother Adeline for being a great mother and friend. Adeline is survived by a daughter, Barbara Rybak of Meriden, a son, Francis Michael Rybak of Meriden, two brothers-in-law, Stanley Mickiewicz and Ray Owsianik, three sisters-in-law, Helen P. Bober, Mary Kogut and Carol Rybak as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by s brother, John T. Bober and a sister Helen Mickiewicz.
Funeral Service from BEECHER & BENNETT FLATOW Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, Tuesday morning, September 30th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Stanislaus Church, Meriden at a time to be announced. Interment will be in Saint Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-8 p.m.

James Melvin, 71 husband of Naomi Melvin passed away peacefully on November 6, 2003. Melvin, as he was fondly called by all, was born on July 31, 1932 to the late Gus Maultsby and Rebecca Melvin in Maxton, North Carolina. He had been a Hamden resident for over 37 years. Melvin was emplolyed at the Olin Corporation for over 30 years and was a member of Local 609, in which he served as a shop steward and union trustee for many years. He was an Army veteran, who served in the Korean War. Melvin was also a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church of New Haven. He was an avid baseball fan with the NY Mets being his favorite team. In addition to his wife Naomi of 47 years, Melvin is survived by his sons, James C. (Loretta) and Michael of Hamden, Stanley (Daphne) of Texas, daughter Darlene (John) of Virginia, brothers Jessie MacArthur and Gus Maultsby of NC, and Charles Vinnie of NV, sisters Emma Mae Meeks, Ophelia Maultsby and Isabell Eggerton of NC and Willa Campbell of PA. Melvin was blessed to be grandpa to 14 wonderful grandchildren and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter, Tanya D. Melvin, a brother, Albert Clarence McArthur and a granddaughter, Melissa Melvin.

MIDDLEFIELD - Clement Jacques, 90, of Middlefield, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2003, at his home and went to be with his Lord. He was the beloved husband for forty-nine years of Ethel Seadale Jacques. He was born May 27, 1913 in Sacre Coeur de Marie, Quebec, Canada, the son of the late Ernest and Adelia Rodrigue Jacques. He had been employed at the International Silver Company for forty-five years and the last twenty years as a chef at Powder Ridge Ski Resort. He was an avid skier and loved horses. He was a member of New Life Church in South Meriden. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and their wives, Gary and Susan Jacques of Wallingford and Glenn and Daphne Jacques of Hamden; two sisters, Madeline Jacques and Theresa Macri, both of Wallingford; two brothers, Robert Jacques and Rocky Jacques, both of Meriden; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Stephen, Matthew and Kevin Jacques, all of Wallingford and Nicholas, Morgan and Kelsey Jacques, all of Hamden. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, George and Henry Jacques and four sisters, Anita, Fern, Blanche and Raymonde.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. William Marotti will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Cheshire. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home two hours prior to the service, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. If desired, contributions in Mr. Jacques' memory may be made to the New Life Church, 92 Main St., South Meriden, CT 06451.

Dorothy M. Allard, age 86, of Windsor, passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, Miss Allard was born in Waterbury a daughter of the late Roswell V. and Martha Ann Buckingham Allard and had resided in New Haven and Hamden before moving to Windsor in 1999. She was employed as a secretary for the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad and later Amtrak for 36 years before retiring in 1978. She was a member of the New Haven Woman's Club. She is survived by a brother Richard B. Allard, cousins: Dorothy Smith, Suzanne & Frederick Steinhagen, and their children Julia & Susan, a cousin, Nancy Smith and her children Adrianne & Tracy, a cousin, Betsy Furtney and her children Luke, John, & Ned. She was predeceased by a cousin Russell S. Smith. Dorothy is also survived by her special friend Alison Young, and friends from Delamere Woods Retirement Community of Windsor.

Hamden - Lucy Scallette Hollis, 89, of 191 Dorrance St., wife of the late Dan Hollis passed away in New Haven Nov. 16, 2003, mother of Paul Hollis of Hamden and the late Melinda Hollis, sister of the late Nancy Fusco, Rocco Scallette and Mary Brunelli. She was born in New Haven, Dec. 1, 1913 a daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa Tutino Scallette and was a graduate of the Commercial High School in New Haven. Lucy was secretary for the former Walker Radcliff Co.

Eleanor M. Dallas, 76, of 25 Filbert St. Hamden, passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2003 at her home. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Dallas. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, April 18, 1927, daughter of the late Howard and Edna Blake Morseburg. She received her early education in North Bergen, NJ before moving to New Haven. Mrs. Dallas graduated from Temple University School of Dental Hygiene and practiced locally. She was a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association and served as President of the New Haven Association. She is survived by her daughter, Lenore Carolyn Dallas of Hamden and two brothers, Howard E. Morseburg of Buelton, CA and Charles L. Morseburg of Springfield, VA.

Clint Norton Magoveny, 50, loving husband of Jean Durkin Magoveny of 43 Tuttle Place, East Haven died suddenly, Nov. 19, 2003 in the Hospital of St. Raphael. Born in New Haven, Aug. 5, 1953 a son of Mary-Lou Pekari Magoveny of Hamden and the late George S. Magoveny and had lived in North Haven before moving to East Haven in 2001. He was a graduate of the University of Arizona, Co-President with his brother, Glenn of Airway Heating & Air Conditioning Co. of Hamden. He was a former president of the New Haven Dart League. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his children, Misha Shay Magoveny of Hamden, US Army PFC Ryan Scott Magoveny of 101st Airborne Division and 102nd Quartermaster Corps and Jeffrey Colin Magoveny both of East Haven, two brothers, Glenn Scott Magoveny and Stuart Allan Magoveny both of North Haven and a sister, Loralee Magoveny Morbidelli of Hamden. Also survived by his aunt, Eleanor Magoveny Modena and uncle, Jack Modena.
