Meriden - Roger Brockley Bartlett, 88, of 110 Carter Ave. Ext., died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of Phyllis Margaret Gilmore Bartlett. Born in Meriden, July 5, 1914 a son of the late Robert and Harriet Bartlett. He was employed for 50 years as a lithographic photographer at Meriden Gravure Company and had a studio in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Karen and Gary Main of East Hampton and Gloria and Thomas Atkins of Stone Ridge, NY and ten grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Bartlett.
Funeral service Monday, May 12, 2003 at Noon at BEECHER & BENNETT FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Joel Rissinger will officiate. Burial will be in Walunt Grove Cemetery. MERIDEN - Anita Marie Staschke, 40, of 80 Ridgefield St., died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of Kenneth J. Staschke. Born in Meriden on Feb. 17, 1963, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Albina Woronick Drechsler. She was a graduate of CPI Computer Institute and until her illness had been employed as a materials handler for UPS. She was also co-owner of Jeremy Farm. She loved her children, gardening and her pets. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Brittny Staschke and a son, Jeremy Staschke, both of Meriden; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lenore and Joseph Carabetta and Pamela and Richard Ranno, all of Meriden; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dale Drechsler of Westbrook and Peter and Suzanne Drechsler of Meriden. She is also survived by several aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from BEECHER & BENNETT FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to express their apprectiation to all the staff at MidState Medical Center. If desired, contributions may be made to the Staschke Children's Education Fund, which is currently being established. The address will be announced.

Joseph Vincent Sapienza, 86, husband of Cruci Scaduto Sapienza of 150 Cook Hill Rd, Chehsire, formerly of Hamden, passed away Wednesday April 30, 2003. He was born in Manchester, NH, a son of the late Domenico and Venera Girgente Sapienza and lived there until moving to Hamden in 1957. Mr. Sapienza was employed as a salesman at Clinton's Piano and Organ Co. of New Haven retiring in 1983. He served in the US Army during WWII, and was a communicant of the Church of the Ascension. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter in law, Joseph V. and Marilyn Sapienza Jr. of Cheshire, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 sisters Emelia LeBel, Palmena Ludwig, and three brothers, Santo "SAM" Sapienza, Alfred and Attilio Sapienza.
Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT 2300 Whitney Ave. Hamden, Saturday morning May 3, at 9:15am. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in the Church of the Ascension 1040 Dunbar Hill Rd, Hamden at 10am. Friends may call Friday (TODAY) from 4-8pm. Elias L. Emanuelson, Jr. husband of Filomena Capecelatro Emanuelson of 100 Lebanon Rd. Bethany passed away May 2, 2003 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Father of Diane Emanuelson Basini (Jean Claude) of Bethany, Elias L. Emanuelson III (Monica) of North Haven and Eric I Emanuelson (Margaret) of Guilford, grandfather of Elisa and Eric Basini of Bethany, Elizabeth Emanuelson of North Haven and Casey and Pembroke Emanuelson of Guilford. He was born in New Haven, March 14, 1933 son of the late Elias LeRoy Emanuelson and Alice Garrity Emanuelson and had resided in Bethany since 1965. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1955 and earned his commission to the United States Air Force the same year.He served as a pilot for the Strategic Air Command. 303 Air Refueling Squadron based in Bermuda and Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire, after separation from active duty, he joined the 137th TAS Squadron of the New York Air National Guard and retired as a Major. He was employed by Perrigo, Inc. in New Haven and the Beazely Company Realtors in New Haven. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Bethany, a former member of The Race Brook Country Club, The New Haven Country Club, Mory's, The Quinnipiack Club and The Mid Ocean Club in Bermuda.
His family will receive friends at BEECHER & BENNETT 2300 Whitney Ave Hamden Monday May 5, from 5 to 8pm. A Memorial service will be held Tuesday May 6, at 10:30 at the Christ Episcopal Church Amity Rd, Bethany. New Haven-James Trevor Evans, Jr, 74, of 49 Quinnipiac Ave. passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2003. He was born in NYC, January 30, 1929 a son of the late James T. and Eleanor Vishno Evans, Sr. and had lived in New Haven most of his life. He was employed in the public relations department of the Southern CT Gas Co. for 40 years retiring in 1993. Mr. Evans was a member of the B.P.O.E., New Haven Lodge # 25 and served in the US Navy during the Korean conflict. He is survived by his former wife Walda Karpowicz Evans of New Haven, two daughters, Diana Bradley of Gardiner, ME, Lorraine Morrissey and her husband, Joseph Morrissey of Cheshire, a son, James T. Evans III and his wife, Patricia Evans of New Haven, a brother, Charles Evans and his wife Louise Evans of Trumbull, CT, a sister-in-law, Carol Evans of West Haven and six grandchildren, Matthew, Gregory and James Bradley of Gardiner, ME and Kelsey, Trevor and Collin Morrissey of Cheshire. He was predeceased by a brother, Jon S. Evans and a son-in-law, Larry Bradley.

Bay Village, OH - Nicholas Andreoli, 87, husband of the late Terese Goggiettino Andreoli, passed away Thurs, April 24, 2003 in the Westlake Health Center, after a long illness. Mr. Andreoli was born in New Haven, Nov. 15, 1915 a son of the late Vincenzo and Maria Bonvini Andreoli and had lived in Hamden for many years before moving to Ohio in 2000. He was employed as a serviceman with the Sears, Roebuck & Co. for many years retiring in 1978 and he was a communicant of St. Rita Church. He is survived by a daughter, Judith A. Wozniak and her husband, Edmund T. Wozniak of Bay Village, OH, two granddaughters and their husbands, Catherine W. and Aaron Maruna, Karen W. and Raymond Kent. Mr. Andreoli was predeceased by two sisters, Lena Andreoli Ruggerio, Nancy Andreoli Chiarelli, and two brothers Blake and Reno Andreoli.

At his home, July 23, 2003, Gary B. Wood, 58, of 137 Franklin Rd., Hamden, husband of Frances Thompson. He was born in Torrington, CT, Oct. 7, 1944 a son of Frances Bate Wood of West Cornwall, CT and the late Warren Wood. He had worked in the Forestry Department for the State of Connecticut. He enjoyed the outdoors. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, John W. Wood of New York City, a sister, Judi Wood MacNeil of Cornwall Bridge, CT and a brother and sister-in-law, Warren "Chip" and Lynn Wood of Cornwall, CT, a niece, Caitlin MacNeil and a nephew, Justin MacNeil both of Cornwall Bridge.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that people commit a random act of kindness to a stranger in Gary’s memory.

MERIDEN - Reinhardt W. Renn, 92, formerly of 47 Empire Avenue, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003 at Haven Health Care Center in Cromwell. He was the husband of the late Selina Kuhn Renn. Born in Berlin on Jan. 17, 1911, he was the son of the late Daniel and Edmunda Manthei Renn. Before his retirement, he had been employed as lumber yard manager at the Berlin Building Supply Company. He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Olivette and John Barbaria of Milford, Elaine C. and James Wild of New Britain and Eleanor L. Renn of Meriden; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. and Nancy Renn of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Otillie Renn of Plainville and Edith Carpenter of Alabama; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Renn; a sister, Margaret Dickon and by his first wife, Alma Kramer.
Funeral service will be Thurs. Sept. 18, 2003 at 10 a.m. at BEECEHR & BENNETT FLATOW FUNEAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. David Brinkley will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Cemetery in Berlin. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral.
