In New Haven, Jan. 7, 2003, Ethel Kritzmacher Damm, 91, of Ridge Rd., North Haven, wife of the late John W. Damm, mother of Erna Ann Damm of North Haven, Carla Kling of Branford and John A. Damm of Plymouth, IN. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Ernest Kritzmacher and sisters, Mable Kritzmacher and Edna Hoffmann. She was born in Newark, NJ, July 13, 1911 a daughter of the late August and Anna Krack Kritzmacher. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and was past president and treasurer of Hamden Emblem Club # 396.

WINTER HAVEN, FL - Francis T. "Frank" Adamowicz, also known as Sonny to family & friends, 73, died of heart failure on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, in Winter Haven. He was the beloved husband of Vivian Lautenbach Adamowicz. Born in Cromwell, CT on June 22, 1929, Mr. Adamowicz retired in 1989 from the Fowler and Hunting Company. An Army veteran he served during the Korean War. He was an avid golfer, bowler and card player as well as an active member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Haines City, FL. He was devoted to his family, greatly loved by all and will be truly missed. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Judith Adamowicz of Meriden and Joyce Chasse and her husband James and daughters Kelly and Ashley of East Hampton; a stepdaughter, Patricia Baihaghy and her husband Tony and son Brian of Carlsbad, CA; three brothers, Henry Adamowicz of Auburndale, FL, Raymond Adamowicz of Middletown and Walter Adamowicz of Cromwell; and two sisters, Florence Dimauro of Berlin and Laura Johnson of New Philadelphia, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 66 Cottage St., East Berlin, CT. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492.

MERIDEN - Albert Richard Arscott, 87, of 31 Sunset Drive, So. Meriden, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at MidState Medical Center. He was the husband for 60 years of Stasia Peczynski Arscott and a resident of So. Meriden for 54 years. Born in Manchester, England, June 14, 1915, he was the son of the late Albert Richard and Jessica Henshall Arscott, Sr. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific on the U.S.S. Terror during World War II and was employed as a welder at the International Silver Company Eyelet Division, retiring in 1980 after 40 years of service. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Center Lodge #97 A.. F. & A. M. and was a former member of the Waterbury Ice Hockey Club. Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Alice Ouellette of Meriden, Susan Myers of East Haddam, Brenda and Anthony Suraci of Guilford and Karen and Bruce Franklin of Glastonbury; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Olive O'Dea Kazersky and a brother, Frank H. Arscott.
The funeral will be held Sat., March 15 at 10 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Ray Cooley will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. If desired, contributions in Mr. Arscott's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Leland Stewart Dow, 80, of 274 Glen Hills Rd., South Meriden, died Sunday, March 9 at Mid State Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Joyce Moore Dow. Born in Patton, ME, January 9, 1923 son of the late Harley and Vera Dow. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Hunt, in the Pacific during WW II. Mr. Dow was employed at Pratt & Whitney in North Haven until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the A.M.V.E.T.S. Post #83 in Wallingford and a member of the South Meriden Trinity United Methodist Church. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Sally Dow of Meriden, three brothers, Arnold Dow of VA, Harley Dow of MD and George Dow of Meriden, three sisters, Lois Golas of Biddeford, ME, Ann Cote of Saco, ME and Janie Borge, step-grandchildren, Jennifer Perreault of Meriden and Daniel and Kathleen Perreault of Middletown and a great step-grandson, Jared Perreault of Middletown. He was predeceased by by two brothers, Carrol Dow and Ledreau Dow.
Funeral service Wednesday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT FLATOW Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden with the Rev. Susan DeSousa officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. New Haven - George Nelson Schatzlein, 73, of Emily Rd., passed away March 7, 2003 at his residence. He was the husband of Betty Andrew Schatzlein. Prior to his retirement he was employed for the United Illuminating Co. for 42 years. He was a veteran of the US Navy. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Patricia Back of New Haven, a son, James Schatzlein of East Haven, a brother, John Schatzlein of North Haven and two grandchildren.

At his home, March 10, 2003, Jerome C. Sills, Sr., 63, of Park Ln., Woodbridge, father of Jerome C. Sills, Jr., of Springfield, MA, brother of Ranaye Hawley of New Haven, Joseph C. Sills of Meriden and grandfather of Jerome Osiris Sills of Springfield, MA. He was born in New Haven, Feb. 10, 1940 a son of the late Joseph and Lorraine Drake Sills. He was a tool and die maker for the former Geometric Tool Co. of New Haven for 25 years. He was a member of the Machinists and Aero Space Union and Connecticut Alliance of Native Americans.

Darien - Joan Peugeot, 76, formerly of Clifford St., Hamden, passed away March 27, 2003 in the Mediplex Healthcare Center of Darien after a long illness. She was born in Hamden a daughter of the late George L. and Mae Grimes Peugeot and graduated from the Hamden Hall Country Day School in 1944. She attended Beaver College in PA and was an accomplished figure skater. Miss Peugeot is survived by a brother, George L. Peugeot of Northfield, IL.
Service of Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Cheshire, Thursday, April 3 at 1 p.m. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.

In Branford, April 16, 2003, Inez Anna Sandquist Duncklee of 1693 South Main St., Cheshire, beloved wife of the late Clifford Duncklee, devoted mother of Shirley Carey and her husband Edward, Alice Rizzo and her husband Salvatore all of Hamden and Jean Daily of Piermont, NH, sister of Stanley Sandquist of Hamden and the late Allan Sandquist, Russell Sandquist and Hilda Clarke. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was born in Hamden, Jan. 3, 1908 a daughter of the late Albin and Anna Carlson Sandquist. She worked at Winchester's for 43 years retiring in 1974. She was an avid gardener and loved to crochet and had her work entered in several craft shows.

CLEARWATER, FL - Betty A. Hobson, 78, of 3141 McMullen Booth Road, formerly of Dryden Drive, Meriden, CT, died Thursday, Apr. 3, 2003, at Morton Plant Rehab Center in Belleair, FL. She was the wife of the late Winchell Hobson. Born in Hartford, CT on March 19, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Lambert F. and Elsie Southwick Anderson. She was a graduate of Larson College in Hamden, CT and was a member of the Center Congregational Church in Meriden. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Gary Moser of Safety Harbor, FL and Joan and Christopher Loos of Meriden; and four grandchildren, Ellen Moser and Jaclyn Moser of Safety Harbor, FL and Thomas Loos and Susan Loos of Meriden.
The funeral will be Monday, April 7, at 10 a.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, CT. The Rev. George H. True will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Virginia Hope Delano, 81, wife of the late Salvatore Delano, entered into eternal rest, Friday April 11, 2003, at the Cresent Manor in Waterbury. She was born in Portland, Maine, on January 3, 1922, daughter of the late Charles Edward and Madeline Lombard Quinby. She was employed at the Dorau-Calza Hair Spring Company for ten years prior to retirement. She is survived by her daughter, Lona Hart of Meriden four grandchildren, Scott Genest and his wife Mitchele of Durham, Virginia Fitzgerald and her husband Geoffrey, Chet Hart, Deana Maloney and Robin Hart all of Meriden, five great grandchildren Joshua Genest, Ryan Genest both of Durham, Zachary Hart, Brooke Fitzgerald and Lauren Fitzgerald all of Meriden a sister, Edith LaMay of Bennington, VT. She was predeceased by a brother, James Richard Quimby.
