Thomas A. McNerney, 88, of 125 Putnam Ave., Hamden, died Sept. 29, 2002. He was born in New Haven, CT, April 17, 1914, a son of the late Robert F. and Anna Shanley McNerney and had resided in Hamden for most of his life. He attended the University of CT in Storrs and the American International College in Springfield, MA prior to working as a licensed appraiser and adjuster in the New Haven area for many years. He retired from Nationwide Insurance Co. in 1977. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II for which he received a commendation for participation in the Normandy invasion of France. Mr. McNerney was a former member of the Father's Club of Sacred Heart Academy, the Edgewood Club of New Haven and the Nationwide Senior Associates. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, the former Josephine Bennetto. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Grosser of Somers, CT and Susan A. McNerney of Branford, CT, a son, John Thomas McNerney of Land O'Lakes, FL and four grandchildren: Karla Sims and Todd Grosser, Jennifer and Justin McNerney and a brother, Walter J. McNerney of Winnetka, IL. He was predeceased by a son, James Edward McNerney and two brothers, John E. McNerney and Robert F. McNerney.
Friends and relatives are invited to go directly to St. Rita Church for a Mass of Christian Burial on Thurs., Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Contributions may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford 06405.

Mother of Kathleen Anthony Sperry of Branford and John S. Anthony of Orange, grandmother of Julie, Peter and Adele Anthony, sister of Claire Harding of Boynton Beach, FL and the late Arthur Hemming. Lucille was born in New Haven, May 18, 1922 a daugher of the late Frank & Wilhemina Haegel Hemming. She was employed for 12 years as a secretary at Armstrong Rubber Co.
Funeral leaving BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., at Court St., West Haven, Friday, Oct. 4 at 9:15 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 in Our Lady of Victory Church, West Haven. In Cheshire, Sept. 26, 2002, Ross C. Pye, 100, of Elim Park, Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire, husband of the late Arline Cook Pye. Born in Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia, a son of the late Charles and Jean Gillatti Pye. Mr. Pye was a stamper of the former International Silver Co. of Meriden and was a member of the former Main Street Baptist Church. During WW II he served in Europe from 1942 to 1945 in the Infantry. He is survived by a brother, Cedric Pye of Florida. Predeceased by one sister and six brothers.
A Memorial service will be held at at the Elim Park Health Center, Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements with BEECHER & BENNTT FLATOW Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.

Belia Medina Curran, wife of John A. Curran of Brentwood Dr., Hamden, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002 in the Hospital of St. Raphael. She was born in San Antonio, TX September 13, 1915 a daughter of the late Carlos and Jovita Medina and had resided in Hamden since 1969. She worked at the Southern New England Telephone Co. in New Haven for 26 years until retiring in 1982. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a member of the Mount Carmel Quilting Club and the Telephone Pioneers. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Olivia Ann Martson of New Haven, a son, John A. Curran, Jr., and two grandchildren, Ryan and Gina Curran. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Curran and a sister, Olivia Medina.
Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Will be Celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 12 Noon. Steven "Brody" Blennerhassett

He is survived by his former wife Carol Murray, a daughter, Kelly Schilling, step-son Michael Schilling all of Bristol, and step-son, Steven Schilling of New Haven. Born Nov. 14, 1955 son of the late James Blennerhassett and Lillian Kemp Richards, he was a graduate of Hamden High School class of 1973. He worked as a machinist at Winchester Repeating Arms and in 1986 he was the Saturday Disc Jockey on 104 FM using the name Brody.
Funeral service Sat., Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may call Sat. from 3 - 6 p.m.

Mary Nettleton Haight, 97, of Peck Hill Rd., Woodbridge, wife of the late G.S. Haight, Professor Emeritus of English at Yale University passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2002. She was born in New Haven, a daughter of the late George H. and Mary Treat Nettleton and was a member of the First Church of Christ, Woodbridge. She is survived by three nephews; Minot B. Nettleton, Peter Haight and Courtney Haight, two neices; Mary N. Coogan and Martha N. Behr, 19 great-nephews and neices and 7 great-great nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward T. Nettleton.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the First Church of Christ, Woodbridge. Rev. Boyd L. Johnson will officiate. Jeanne Morgan Jones of 201 Starr St., New Haven passed away Saturday Oct. 5, 2002 in CT Hospice, Branford after an extended illness. She was a daughter of the late William H. and Cora Hayes Morgan and a lifelong resident of New Haven. Jeanne was a nursing assistant at the Veteran's Memorial Medical Center in West Haven until her retirement in July 2001. She is survived by a sister Wilhelmina Conquest and her husband George Conquest of North Haven, a brother, William H. Morgan with whom she resided of New Haven. Dear friends Louise S. Cabral and Rosalyn Hayes. She was predeceased by a sister, Cora M. Wright.

Erik C. Redlich

Erik C. Redlich, 60, recently moved to Chester, CT died on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 at CT Hospice in Branford, following a motor vehicle accident in mid-August. He lived most of his life in Killingworth, and for the past 16 years lived in Madison with his wife Lucinda. He graduated from the University of Hartford, Hartt School of Music. A man of multi-talents, he pursued vocations as a math teacher, electrician, and photographer. He played the violin, and had a passion for classical music and photography, as well as tending to his impressive collection of begonias. After the death of his mother Elsa in 1969, he and his wife Deedee carried on Elsa's founding of the acclaimed Chestnut Hill chamber music concert series which ran for many summer seasons in Killingworth, and continues to be held each summer with great popularity in Guilford. Erik is survived by his father, Dr. F. C. Redlich and stepmother, Herta Glatz Redlich of Hamden; brother Peter of Los Angeles, CA; son Christopher and grandson of Running Springs, CA; stepdaughter Elizabeth Sheppard and step-grandson of Deep River. He was much loved, and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Hamden - Rita Thibaudeau Champagne Barton, 81, formerly of Worcester MA passed away Friday October 11, 2002 in the Hospital of St.Raphael. She was the wife of Clayton F. Barton of the Commons at Mill River, Hamden, and predeceased by her first husband of many years Loredan Champagne. She was born in Worcester, MA, a daughter of the late Henri and Louisa Mailloux Thibaudeau and was a secretary at the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Worcester for 26 years prior to retirement. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia R. Read and her husband John Read of Federal Way, WA., a granddaughter Jill Read, a grandson Jarrod, of Federal Way, WA. She was step mother of; Theresa and Keith Gregory, Beverly and Michael Santora, James Barton, Frank and Ann Mianzo, Janet and Duane Beale, Thomas Mianzo, Barbara Mianzo, and Robert and Pamela Barton. She also leaves 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Ronald W. Dundon

At his home, Oct. 7, 2002 Ronald W. Dundon of Hamden, husband of Jennifer L. Jainer. Born in Chicago IL, son of the late Peter and Clara Relthstein Dundon. A graduate DePauw University 1969 he received a masters degree from the University of Texas in 1981 in Sociology and Social Psychology and a masters from Yale University Divinity School in 1989. He was a research fellow at Yale while in the MA/PHI program at the New School for Social Research, Graduate Faculty. Mr. Dundon held adjunct faculty positions at University of Texas, Sacred Heart University. He had two publications, Omnipower: An Inside Look at Corporate Ideology and its Social Implications and the Philosophy of Social Sciences: An Interdisciplinary Approach (co-authored with his wife Jennifer). In and early career, Mr. Dundon was an investment banker with Walston & Co. in New York, and later instrumental in working with and creating high school drug and alcohol prevention programs, battered women's shelters and other social programs. Besides his wife, he is survived by two stepsons, Christopher W. Landino of New Haven and Thomas A. Landino of Wallingford.
A private memorial service will be held at the Yale Divinity School. Arrangements under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.

Born in Port Jefferson, NY, June 4, 1923, a son of the late Charles and Elsie Smith Erland. Mr. Erland retired as a Postman for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Haven, a Past Master of Day Spring Lodge # 30, A.F. & A.M., The Scottish Rite - Valley of New Haven, Lafayette Consistory, a Past Patron of Alice Chapter # 76, O.E.S. and the National Association of Letter Carriers. Cliff served as a coach with the Hamden Father's Baseball Association for over 30 years. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter and her husband, Kathleen and Dennis Cowhig of Warrington, PA, a son and his wife, Kenneth and Katherine Heyse Erland of Wallingford, three brothers; Walter, Calvin and Albert Erland of Cobleskill, NY and three grandchildren; Rose Cowhig, Kyle and Ryan Erland. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rosemary Creamer Erland, a son Keith Erland, three brothers: Charles, Arthur and Lloyd Erland.
Funeral service will be held at BEECHER AND BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN, Saturday, October 19th at 10:A.M. Friends may call Friday from 6 - 8 P.M. A Masonic service by Day Spring Lodge # 30, A.F. & A.M. at 7 P.M. After the burial in Centerville Cemetery on Saturday, friends are invited to the Johnson Apartments, Masonic Healthcare Center, Wallingford for a reception.
