In Farmington, Feb. 15, 2001, Kenneth A. Crossland, 87 of King St., West Haven, husband of the late Doris Contois Crossland. Brother of Lillian Kroll of Glastonbury and Jeanette Hamilton of Southbury. Predeceased by sisters, Marion Dudley, Vivian Eastwood, Alice Willis, Victoria Williams and a brother Oliver Crossland. He was born in New Haven, Feb. 8, 1914 a son of the late Joseph M. & Alice Westfield Crossland.
He served during WW II in the US Army 109th Inf. Reg. where he received the European African Middle Eastern Theatre and American Theatre Campaign Ribbons and the Victory Medal. Before his retirement he was a machine operator at Raybestos formerly of Stratford. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of West Haven.
Funeral service at BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven, Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. Friends may call Tues. from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial with full military honors in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven. In Meriden, July 1, 2001, Harriett Lavinia Crutch of 22 Masonic Ave., Wallingford. Born in Litchfield, CT on Sept. 20, 1905, she was the daughter of the late George and Harriet Blackburn Crutch. She was a bookkeepper for the Seymour Manufacturing Co. and Bryant Equipment of West Haven. A West Haven resident for many years, she had served as the treasurer of the West Haven Women's Club. Miss Crutch is survived by three nieces, Eleanor H. Ruot of Fairfield, Marjorie R. Harrison of Bristol and Marion H. Riggs of Greensboro, NC. Predeceased by sisters, Irene Belcher and Gertrude Hurlburt.

Ruth Johnson Coppinger, 85, of 339 Eastern St. New Haven, wife of the late William J. Coppinger passed away in Ct Hospice Branford January 31, 2001 after a brief illness. She was born in Ansonia, CT September 19, 1915 a daughter of the late Michael J. and Johanna Casey Johnson and had lived in West Haven for many years before moving to New Haven in 1980. She was employed by the CT Laborer's Health and Pension Fund as a secretary for 20 years retiring in 1976. She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Mary Ellen and Frank P. Gillon of Hamden, CT, Ruth Ann and Peter L. Harrison of Orange, CT., and Patricia and Edward J. Drew, Jr. of Madison, CT, six grandchildren, Frank W. Gillon, Megan and William J. Harrison, Edward J. III, Thomas P.and William J. Drew. She is also survived by several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

In CT Hospice, Oct. 3, 2001, Jane Santi Cantore, 74 wife of the late George F. Cantore of 29 Covington Dr., Milford. She is survived by a sister, Barbara Santi of Milford, with whom she resided, brother-in-law, Anthony Bonessi. Also survived by dear friends, Paul and Hilda Eligio of East Haven, a godchild Mark Eligio and his wife Sue and their children Mark Anthony, Justin and Josh, godchild, Paulette Carrano and her husband, David of North Branford and their children, Shauna, Tara, and friend, Michele Simons and her husband Richard and their son, Nicholas. She was born in New Haven, Aug. 28, 1927 a daughter of the late Domenico and Margaret Carnevale Santi. She was a volunteer at Beth El Soup Kitchen in Milford for 12 years.
Friends and relatives are invited to go directly to Christ the Redeemer Church, 325 Oronoque Rd., Milford, Friday, Oct. 5 for a Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Farmington Hills, MI. Josephine P. Crossland, 94, of 21450 Archwood Circle, wife of the late Oliver J. Crossland passed away March 1, 2001 after a brief illness. She was born in New Haven, CT December 17, 1906 a daughter of the late William and Marie Hempi Pospesil and had lived in West Haven for many years before moving to Michigan. She is survived by a son William Crossland and his wife Janice, of Farmington Hills, MI and a granddaughter Alicia Crossland.

Cheshire - Irene Whay Cashman, 75, of Cheshire, CT a long time resident of West Haven, CT, died May 16, 2001. She was the widow of William R. Cashman. For many years she owned and operated a real estate firm, Cash Realty, located in Cheshre. Concurrently, she was an author of many short stories, articles concerning areas of interest in Connecticut and a cartoon writer.
She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church, West Haven, for over 60 years. She leaves a daughter, Kathleen Landers of Cheshire, a son, Attorney William H. Cashman of Guilford, granddaughters, Kimberly A. Cashman of Highland Park, New Jersey, Holly R. Cashman of Tempe, Arizona and Hayley M. Cashman of Guilford.

He was a 52 year member of Day Spring Lodge # 30 A.F. & A.M. and a member of th Coast Guard Aux.

Henry Robert Carlson, 103, passed on June 15, 2001 at Harbor View Manor, West Haven, where he was treated with kindness and respect from everyone during his residence and death. Henry was born in Northport, L. I. on Feb 5th, 1898 a son of the late John A. and Hilda Wahlstrom Carlson. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy Regan Carlson in 1975, and predeceased by 2 sisters, Ellen Leslie and Josephine Coyle: 2 brothers August and John Carlson. He also survived his beloved son Harold W. Carlson in 1989. He is survived by a son Robert H. Carlson and his wife Shirley P. Carlson of Williamsburg, VA; daughter-in-law Mrs Harold W. Carlson (Gertrude G. Carlson)) of Milford: grandchildren Gary Carlson and his wife Susan Stocker Carlson of West Haven, Lori C. Lappos and her husband Nicholas of New Haven, Bradford W. Carlson of West Haven, Joanne Ferguson and her husband Steve of SC, Kristin Reed and her husband David of VA, and Donald Carlson of FL.: also survived by 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren also a niece Shirley C. Anderson of FL. Mr Carlson was a veteran of WW I, US Navy, Seaman 2nd Cl. He was Manager and then supervisor for the A & P Tea Co for 20 years. He also worked in Winchester Arms and developed many new patents for rifle advancements. At age 67 her retired from G & O after 20 years. He was a long time resident of Guilford and later moved to Clover St. West Haven and resided there over 50 years.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thurs June 21, 2001 at 9 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church. Interment in St Michael's Cemetery, Springfield, MA. Wiltshire. Sister of Elizabeth Watts of Detroit, MI, aunt of Ann Drake of Sterling Heights, MI. She was born in West Haven, Oct. 28, 1927, daughter of the late Erle and Laura Jackson Ball. A graduate of Southern CT State Un. and received a Masters Degree from Univ. of CT School of Social Work. She was a social worker at the West Haven Veterans Medical Center for 20 years retiring in 1993. An active and faithful member of Trinity Church on the Green.

In North Haven, January 21, 2002, Jacqueline Ann Lambiase Bennett 36, of 2200 Ridge Rd., North Haven, wife of Richard B. Bennett. She was born in New Haven May 20, 1965. Jacqueline graduated from Stone School of Business and worked for several area companies, her last position was with SNET as a customer service representative. She enjoyed working at SNET and appreciated the support she received from her friends there. Jacqueline passed after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her spirit and determination was an inspiration to all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Rachel Marie Lambiase of North Haven, her father and stepmother, Floyd and Sharon Brown of New Haven, stepchildren, Richard A. and Kathleen R. Bennett both of Meriden, aunts, Rose Gallo of Meriden and Mary Gagliardi of Southington and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alan C. and Jean B. Bennett of North Haven.
