Callan, Jr., mother of Colleen Pinsonneault and her husband, Eric of Wallingford and Sean and his wife, Valaiporn Callan of Los Angeles, CA, sister of Margaret Robinson of Cleveland, OH, Harold Broderick of Washington, CT and Patricia Broderick of Darien, CT, grandmother of Connor Pinsonneault and Moriah Callan. She was born in Norfolk, VA, June 19, 1928, a daughter of the late Patrick and Martha Mahon Broderick. She had been an assistant librarian at Univ. of New Haven, was a member of the Catholic Women's Association and was a volunteer driver for handicapped school children.
Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Wed., Nov. 28 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10 a.m. Friends may call Tues. from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden.

Albert E. Callan, Jr.

Hamden - Albert Edward Callan, Jr., 75, of 51 Ingram St passed away October 7, 2001, in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born in New Haven, August 3, 1926 a son of the late Albert E. and Florence Hughes Callan, Sr. and had lived in Hamden most of his life. He was a reporter for the former Journal Courier and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He attended the First Unitarian Universalist Society of New Haven and is survived by two cousins.
Service of interment will be in Westville Cemetery, Whalley Ave., New Haven, Friday, October 26 at 11 am. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.

In Hamden, Oct. 23, 2001, Viola Mead Buchholz, 100, of Bassett St., West Haven, wife of the late Charles A. Buchholz. Mother of Helen Danehy of West Haven and Dorothy Karrel of Greenwich, CT, also survived by 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by a son, Charles Buchholz and a grandson, Randall Buchholz. She was born in New Haven, Aug. 16, 1901 daughter of the late George and Emily Young Mead. She had been Licensed Practical Nurse at the former Hawkins Convalescent Home of West Haven for 30 years. She was a member of Christ Church, West Haven and Excelsior Chapter - Order of Eastern Star of New Haven.
Funeral service will be Thursday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church, West Haven. Interment in Tabor Cemetery, Branford. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., at Court St., West Haven, Thursday morning from 9:30 - 10:30. In lieu of flowers conbributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

In New Haven, Eleanor "Elie" Conner Butler, 73, of West Haven died at YNHH, June 12, 2001.She was born June 14, 1927 in Hartford, daugher of the late Helen Furlong Cameron, step-daughter of the late Aubrey Cameron and daughter of the late Dwight Conner and step-daughter to Eve Conner of East Haven. She was predeceased by her loving sister, Marilyn "Mur" O'Bymachow and a grandson, Timothy Butler. Besides her husband of 54 years, James H. Butler, she leaves 3 sons, James E. Butler (Linda) of West Haven, Charles B. Butler (Helen) of New Haven, John P. Butler (Lori) of West Haven and a daughter Mary E. Numa (Stewart) of West Haven. She was so proud of her 7 grandchildren, Jim (Lisa) Butler, Chris (Joyce) Butler, Amy, Patrick and Rebecca Butler, Matthew and Olivia Numa and a great-grandson, Jacob Butler. She also leaves her dearest friend, Helen Lindsay and the members of the "Club" (who were special to Elie). Eleanor was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church where she sang in the choir for over 50 years and was a member of the St. Therese Guild.

In Wallingford, June 3, 2001. Charles Badger Bryan, a resident of the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center, formerly of New Haven. Born in Washington, D.C. on November 23, 1910, he was the son of the late Henry F. and Elizabeth Badger Bryan. He was employed by the U. S. Postal Service as a Postal Clerk before his retirement in 1975. He was a member of Hiram Lodge # 1, A.F. & A.M. in New Haven.
Services of Interment will be held in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden on Thursday, June 7 at 1:30 P.M. Arrangements with BEECHER AND BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, Ct. 06492

In Hamden, April 23, 2001, Muriel Stromberg Burt, 87, formerly of Hartley St., North Haven. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of sixty-two years, Howard G. Burt. She is survived by her two loving sons, Kenneth H. Burt of Center Barnstead, NH and Donald E. Burt of Wolcott, CT; grandmother of six and great-grandmother of one. Her family also includes two cousins, Marie Stromberg and Nancy Closs of Hartford. Mrs. Burt was a graduate of Larson College (now Quinnipiac University). She was employed as a secretary at the former Second National Bank of New Haven. Mrs. Burt was a columnist for the Hamden Chronicle, she authored "View from the Ridge". She was a former President and long time member of the Mt. Carmel Women's Club. Muriel was a member of The Church of the Redeemer where she had been Historian for several years and a member of the Owenego Beach Club of Branford.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Redeemer on Friday, April 27 at 11 a.m. Interment will be private in East Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church at 185 Cold Spring St., New Haven 06511.

Brown Jr. of Southborough, MA and Alan W. Brown of Hatfield, PA.Brother of the late Beatrice B. Judd, Elwood and Carroll V. Brown. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Mr. Brown was born in New Haven on May 22, 1909 a son of the late Wallace and Emma Crane Brown. He was a supervisor for 47 years at the former Berger Bros. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Annawon Masonic Lodge 115.
Funeral service will be held at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Saturday September 30, 2000 at 11 A.M. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Zoriada was born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico on May 30, 1953.

Vincenza Ruggieri Cassella of Summit Dr., Orange entered into rest eternal surrounded by her loving family and friends on March 14, 2001 at the age of 98. She was born on May 4, 1902 in Basilcia, Province of Benevento, Italy. As an infant, the family moved to San Marco LaCatola, Province of Foggia, Italy where she lived until she emigrated to the United States in 1921. She married Michael Cassella in 1923 and has been an Orange resident for 42 years. She was a member of the Holy Infant Church Ladies' Guild and the New Haven Council of Catholic Women. Mrs. Cassella was a communicant of Holy Infant Church of Orange. She leaves a daughter, Ann Tagliatela; a son-in-law, Frank J. Tagliatela and two grandsons: Atty. Mark Tagliatela and Atty. Michael Tagliatela all of Orange and dear friends Gail Catania-Lewis, Connie D'Elia, Melissa Lewis and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Michael Cassella and sons, Louis and John and brothers John and Luigi Ruggieri. She was the daughter of the late Innocenzo and Giovannina Accetura Ruggieri. She was a devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law and grandmother to her family and as well, to all her many friends and relatives. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

MERIDEN - Pearlie L. Cote, 77, of 87 North Ave., died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the wife of the late William S. Cote. She was born in Meriden on Dec. 10, 1924, the daughter of the late Elmer and Edith Street Donnelly. She had worked at Beloff's Woman's World and was a member of the Salvation Army.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Cote of Newington and Dianne Ondusko of Norwich; a son, Earle Cote of Port Orange, FL; a brother, Frank Donnelly of Meriden; seven grandchildren, Dawn Kerry of Meriden, Melissa Matias and Stephanie Matias, both of Newington, Matthew Ondusko, Joanna Ondusko, Elizabeth Ondusko and James Ondusko, all of Norwich; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Kerry and Melissa Kerry, both of Meriden. She was predeceased by a sister, Ellen Herbst and a brother, Leslie Donnelly.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 2002 at 7 p.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, CT. Captain Beth Robinson of the Salvation Army will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
