MERIDEN - Dorothy Louise Brunet, 78, beloved wife of Harold "Harry" P. Brunet of 43 North Spring St., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, in MidState Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Hartford, CT on Sept. 19, 1922, a daughter of the late John J. and Grace Keeney MacDonald and had lived in Meriden most of her life. She was employed by the Kuhn Center of Meriden as a van driver for six years, retiring in 1993. Mrs. Brunet was a member of the First Assembly of God of Meriden and the A.F. of M. Local #55 Musicians Union. She and her husband traveled as musicians as the "Brunay's" for 7 years, and while performing in Florida, a Daytona newspaper described her as "The Peggy Lee of Daytona".
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Anthony G. Canalia of Meriden; a sister, Mary Anziano of Meriden; two brothers, John MacDonald of Terryville, CT and Richard MacDonald of Wallingford; and a grandson, Anthony G. Canalia, Jr. of Meriden. She was predeceased by three sisters, Vivian MacDonald, Ruth Kelly and Grace Campbell.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Thomas Fegler will officiate. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Suddenly, July 25, 2000, Karen Chin Calabro, 51, wife of John Calabro of 118 Heather Road, Hamden. Mother of Kimberley Jean and Brittany Renee Calabro both of Hamden, Daughter of Catherine Lee Chin of Medford, NJ and the late Herbert Chin. Sister of Richard Chin of New Brunswick, NJ., Donna Bentley of Haddenfield, NJ and David Chin of Pensacola, FL. She was born in Brooklyn, NY Sept. 10, 1948. She was a US Navy Veteran and a graduate of the Univ. of Bridgeport, School of Nursing. For the last three years she has worked as an inside sales coordinator for Polylok, a division of United Concrete.

In New Haven, August 27, 2001, Keith Douglas Beverage 78, husband of Ethel Hamm Beverage of 54 years of 73 Curry Rd., Hamden, father of Diane Tighe of Katy, TX and Keith D. Beverage of Stamford, grandfather of Katherine and Arlene Tighe of Katy, TX also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Viola Joy and brothers, Victor and Raymond Beverage. He was born in North Haven, Maine, Jan. 24, 1923 a son of the late Raymond and Leah Young Beverage. After graduation from high school in 1940 he joined the Army and saw service in Europe during WW II as a tank destroyer platoon commander, he eventually retired after 20 years of service. He then worked for Schiavone & Sons for 22 years.

In Hamden, August 16, 2001, Robert M. Boyce 92, husband of Shirley Albin Shumway Boyce of Centerbrook Rd., He was born in New Haven, March 9, 1909 son of the late Clarence and Julia LaFountain Boyce. Predeceased by a brother, Paul Boyce. He was a WW II Navy veteran and was Postmaster on the USS Stanton. He retired after 30 years of service as a Postal Clerk and also had been a photographer for Loring Studios. He was a member of Cheshire Philatelic Society and American Legion Post # 88.

Meriden - Barbara T. Borek, 74, of 242 Gravel St, loving wife of 54 years of Edward M. Borek, Sr. died Friday August 3, 2001 in the Mid State Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Borek was born in Meriden, March 26, 1927 a daughter of the late Julius and Mary Sieg Tessmer and had lived in Meriden all of her life. She attended St. Mary' School and was married
in St. Mary's Church where she was a lifelong communicant. She was a LPN for many years at the WW II Veterans Memorial Hospital, and later was a teacher at the Pumpkin Patch Daycare Center of Wallingford and most recently at the Theater Street Daycare Center of Meriden.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and her husband, Mariann and Michael Fisette of Meriden, a son, Edward M. Borek, Jr. of Green Acres, FL, two brothers George Tessmer and David Tessmer of Meriden, two sisters Florence Stevens and Delores Bennett, of Meriden, two grandchildren Michael and Alexis Borek of FL and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Bernice Tessmer.
Funeral from BEECHER and BENNETT FLATOW Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, Tuesday morning Aug. 7, at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Sherman Place, Meriden at 10 AM.

William Emil Bossart

In Cheshire, May 12, 2001, William Emil Bossart 88, of Elim Park Place, husband of Charlotte Werth Bossart. He was born in Paxton, IL August 19, 1912 son of the late Emil & Mabel Flora Bossart. He grew up in Rockford, IL and Indianapolis, IN and was active in the Boy Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout. Granted a four year Austin Scholarship to Northwestern University in Evanston, IL in 1930, he graduated with a B.S. from the School of Commerce in 1934. His business career included executive positions at Rohm & Haas Corp. in Philadelphia and Berger Brothers in New Haven. Mr. Bossart founded The Rite Box Manufacturing Company of New Haven and Hamden area in 1953. His commitment to business in the New Haven/Hamden area was evidenced by his numerous associations: a member and President of the New Haven Manufacturers Association, Hamden Economic Development Council and a charter member of Hamden's Kiwanis Club. Mr. Bossart was a trustee of Church of the Redeemer in New Haven and later a member of the Northford Congregational Church. Married for 64 years to Charlotte Werth Bossart, he was the father of three children: Barbara McCarter Alcorn of La Jolla, CA, Bonnie Emami of Boston, MA and Stephen Bossart of Aspen, CO. Also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at the Elim Park Chapel, 150 Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire, Friday, June 1, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Northford Congregational Church Memorial Garden. Contributions can be made to the Memorial Fund at Elim Park.

In Hamden, Feb. 11, 2001, Iride Bellodi Bergamini, 99, of 112 Washington Ave. wife of the late Angelo Bergamini, mother of Aida Bergamini of Hamden and the late Walter Bergamini. Also survived by a daughter-in-law Florence Bergamini of Hamden, grandmother of Katherine Ryan, great-grandmother of D.J. Barron both of Simsbury, sister of Fiorina Spinelli of Italy and the late Pina Pritoni, Alvaro Bellodi and Alfredo Bellod. She was born in Modena, Italy March 28, 1901 a daughter of the late Aristide and Adelina Bellodi and was a resident of Centerville section of Hamden since 1929. She had worked at the former Parva Products of Hamden. She was a member of St. Stephens Church, Hamden Senior Citizens and Founder of the former North Italian Ladies League.

Magnhild "Trudie" L. Bergh of 102 Beacon St., Hamden died Wednesday January 10, 2001 at home after a long illness. Miss Bergh daughter of the late Oscar and Marie Rorholt Bergh was born in West Haven, July 18, 1918 and had lived in Hamden for many years. She retired in 1988 after 50 years with The Strouse, Adler Co. New Haven where she was buyer and head of the purchasing department. In 1962 she became a director and following a series of corporate offices was elected Executive Vice president in 1980. She leaves a brother Oscar Bergh, Jr. of Hamden and was predeceased by a half brother Christian Berg.
Funeral service will be held Saturday morning January 13 at 10 AM at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10AM. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Mark E. Boivin, 45, of Meriden, died Monday, Nov. l3, 2000. He was born in Nuremberg, Germany, son of David Boivin and Priscilla Ruperti Boivin of Woodstock. He was a kind, helpful, generous person who was interested in everyone and everything. Chief among his many interests were clocks, watches, automobiles (antique and retro), motorcycles, travel and gardening at his home. While growing up he lived in many parts of the U.S. as part of a career military family. In his youth he belonged to the Boy Scouts of America and achieved the rank of First Class. He was inducted into the Order of the Arrow, Longhorn Council, Texas. Highlight of his scouting experience was participation in the Mountain Wilderness Camp at Philmont, New Mexico. After completing school he lived in California for several years. He returned to Connecticut where for the past 15 years he worked for the Department of Public Works, State of Connecticut, most recently as Superintendent of the State Office Building, 340 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT. For his outstanding and dedicated service he received the Governor's Service Award in November 1997, and Letters of Commendation from the following agencies: Department of Social Services, Connecticut Association of Affirmative Action Professionals, Department of Consumer Protection, Department of Revenue Services and the Attorney General's office. He took immense pride in his work and was well liked and respected by evenyone.
He is survived by his parents, his dear friend Loyd Johnson, his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Wendy Boivin, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Diana and Daniel Cahill, Paula and Bryan Woodhouse, his nephews and niece, Matthew, Jason, Zachary, Jacob and Alicia, his aunts and uncle, Nydia and William Saros, Madeline Johnson, and several cousins and their children. He is also survived by his maternal grandfather, Ernesto A. Ruperti, whom he cared for dearly. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Calling hours will be on Friday, November 17, 5-8 p.m., at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Avenue, Meriden. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18 at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden. Burial will be held later at the convenience of the family.
