In Woodbridge, July 23, 2002, Frederick "Rick" Thomas Shepherd, III, 47 of 1990 Litchfield Tpk., Shepherd Farm, Woodbridge, husband of Sarah Russell Shepherd, father of Erik and Benjamin Russell Shepherd, son of Frances Beattie Shepherd of Woodbridge and the late Frederick T. Shepherd, Jr., brother of Joan S. Eicher of Centerport, NY, Susan S. Rochette of Woodbridge, Roger H. Shepherd of Bethany and John B. Shepherd of Woodbridge. Rick was born in New Haven, Sept. 5, 1954 lived in Woodbridge, after graduating from Amity High School he attended Trinity-Pawling School and Boston University. He was a dairy farmer and ran his family farm with his father for most of his life.
Friends and relatives are invited to a service in remembrance of Rick at Eastside Cemetery, Pease Rd., Woodbridge on Friday at 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served at the farm following the remembrance service. In Hamden, July 7, 2002, Anita Malavase Smith, 92, formerly of Willard St., Hamden, wife of the late Harold T. Smith, mother of Arthur H. Smith of Southington, CT and grandmother of Kevin Smith of Jensen Beach, FL and Keith Smith of Hamden. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Susan I. Smith, brothers, Galaleo, James, Geneo and Edward Malavase, a sister, Angelina Mangler and a daughter-in-law, Joan Onofrio Smith. She was born in New Haven, April 28, 1910 a daughter of the late Benvenutio and Theresa Montavani Malavase.

In the VA Hospital, West Haven, July 6, 2002, Francis "Robbie" Wesley Robinson, Jr., 62, of Belden Rd., Hamden, husband of Lucille Murphy Robinson, father of of William S. Robinson of New Haven, brother of Barbara Providence of New York, Emily Robinson of North Haven and the late Kenneth Robinson and Patricia Gibbs. Also survived by four grandchildren. He was born in New Haven, June 27, 1940 a son of the late Francis Wesley and Sara Jenkins Robinson, Sr., he was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served in Korea. He had been employed as a truck driver for New Haven Transport and Westchester Motor Lines, was a member of the Police Athletic League where he coordinated the Midget Football and Baseball Leagues from 1975-85, he was a member of the Golden Ages Games veterans group.
Funeral service will be Thursday, July 11 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 990 Racebrook Rd., Woodbridge. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Arrangements under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.

West Haven - Janice L. Harris, 76, of 1000 Campbell Ave. passed away suddenly July 5, 2002. She was born in New Haven, March 2, 1926 a daughter of the late Arthur and Rose Abeshouse Harris and had lived in New Haven before moving to West Haven in 1995. She was employed at Rocklin Auto Parts of West Haven for many years, retiring in 1987. Janice devoted much of her time to volunteer activities, as Chaplin of the Women's Auxilliary, American Legion Post #196 of Milford, the American Cancer Society, and the Red Cross.
She is survived by a brother, Howell Harris, and his wife Ellen Harris of Killingworth, 6 nieces and nephews and 8 grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a sister Ruth Marmelstein and a brother George Harris.
Graveside service of interment will be Tuesday July 9, at 10 a.m. in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Section L, New Haven. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR Funeral Home, 410 Campbell Ave., at Court St., West Haven. Leonora Wilcox Miller, 77, wife of Richard C. Miller of 68 Cherry Ln., West Haven died Sunday at CT Hospice, Branford. Mrs Miller was born in Fall River, MA daughter of the late Thomas and Alberta DeBragga Wilcox. She was a member of the First Congregnational Church, West Haven for 50 years and a deaconess. Mrs Miller was a member of the Pebbles and the Merry Mates of the church. Prior to her retirement in 1984 she was a clerk at S.N.E.T. for 24 years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Allyn Currie of Shrewsbury, PA, son and daughter-in-law, Richard C. Miller, Jr. and Linda Miller of West Haven. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday morning, July 17 at 10:30 at the First Congregational Church, West Haven. Interment will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park. In Southington, July 6, 2002 June Berthelson Mount, 78, wife of the late Harry Mount of 33 Woodruff St., Hamden: mother of Susan Healy of Hamden, Wendy Mount of Jersey City, NJ and the late Karen E. Mount, grandmother of Matthew J. Healy. June was born in New Haven, Jan. 5, 1924 a daughter of the late Andrew and Christine Larsen Berthelson. She was an Executive Sec'y at Yale University, Dept. of Forestry and Environmental Studies for 19 years. A graduate of Quinnipiac College, she was a member of the Danish Sisterhood and the Alice Chapter of the Eastern Star.

South Meriden - Marion Belle Comstock, 81, formerly of 163 Evansville Ave., died Sat., July 13, 2002 at CT Baptist Home in Meriden. She was the wife of Raymond Edward Comstock. She was born in Esmond, RI, Dec. 4, 1920, a daughter of the late Elton L. and Susie Longfellow Mathewson. She had been employed as a secretary at the former Jefferson Savings Bank. She was a Grange member for 64 years, the last membership with Cheshire Grange # 63. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Judith Orlando of Southington, two sons, Donald E. Comstock of Wallingford and Richard E. Comstock of Lisbon, NH, a sister, Mildred Lewis of North Providence, RI, nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan DuBois, a brother, Edmund C. DeLaCour, a sister, Lillis Packman and two grandchildren, Dean and Kim Lattman.

MERIDEN - Arthur Emil Pfeiffer, 83, of 903 East Main St., died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Gladys Elizabeth Preece Pfeiffer. Born in Meriden on Jan. 17, 1919, he was the son of the late William L. and Eliese Keyes Pfeiffer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the owner of Parkway Cleaners in Meriden. He is survived by a son, Arthur John Pfeiffer of Meriden; a sister, Julie Kennison of Sun City, Arizona; a special nephew, Richard Fontaine of Wallingford; a sister-in-law, Helen Pfeiffer of Meriden; two nieces, Donna Cyr and Barbara Bickford, both of Meriden and several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude Brunell and Johanna Gagne and three brothers, Walter Pfeiffer, Arnold Pfeiffer and William Pfeiffer.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 5, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Wallace Merdinyan will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Meriden - Eric R. Lawson, 86, formerly of Paddock Ave., died Sat. July 20, 2002 in Hawaii while visiting his son. He was the husband of the late Viola Helen Salamandra Lawson. He was born in Hopkinton, NH, March 24, 1916, a son of the late Arthur V. and Anna Olson Lawson. He worked as a machinist at the Charles Parker Company and later he retired as a salesman for A-1 Recreational Vehicles in 1979. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Donald Corkum of Madison, WI, a son and daughter-in-law, Reginald and Lauren Lawson of Waikoloa, HI, a brother, John Lawson of Hudson, WI, five grandchildren, Sheri Corkum of Toronto, Canada, Rhonda Muchiutti of Clinton, MA, Brian Corkum of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Neal Lawson of Bolder, CO and Jennifer Helbeley of Reno, NV. He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur Lawson, Clarence Lawson and a sister, Marie Ishkanian.

Mr. Burr was born in New Haven, Jan. 23, 1915 a son of the late Clarence and Bertha Page Burr and had been a resident of West Haven since 1949. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He was a plumber for the former Foskett & Bishop Plumbing Co. of New Haven and retired in 1972 and was a member of Local # 349.
