John Monteith
John Monteith, age 88, of Melbourne, Fla., died Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at Indian River Rehab in West Melbourne, Fla. .
He was the son of the late Melvin Monteith and the late Elsie (Brokaw) Monteith.
He is also survived by his Two Daughters, Daughter-Lois Fitch of Melbourne, Fla. Daughter-Patricia Renaudette One Son, Son-Thomas Monteith Two Brothers, Brother-George Monteith Brother-Arthur Monteith Ten grandchildren One great-grandchild

Marvin Cooper, age 65, of Plainville, Conn., died Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Conn. Cooper was employed by Colt Firearms.
He was the son of the late Elliott Cooper and Rachel (McClary) Cooper.

Lee (Warschavsky) Greenberg, age 95, of W Hartford, Conn., died Friday, January 17, 2003, at Hebrew Home & Hospital in West Hartford, Conn. .
She was the daughter of the late Harry Warschavsky and the late Rose Warschavsky.

Joseph DiGangi
Waterford - Joseph James DiGangi, 78, of 5 May Avenue, Quaker Hill, died at home early on Saturday morning after a long battle with cancer. He was born August 2, 1924 in Norwich, the son of Francesco and Annunziata Perrone DiGangi, formerly of 62 Division St.
He graduated from Norwich Free Academy and also attended Bryant Business College.
Mr. DiGangi served his country during WWII as a 3rd class petty officer, storekeeper, in the U.S. Navy in Italy and Algiers from July 1943 to May 1945.
He was employed for 36 years as a clerk at the Norwich Post Office. Following his retirement from the post office, he became a custodian in the East Lyme school system.
He was a member of the Norwich Elks Club. He enjoyed gardening, opera, cooking, bowling, long walks in the arboretum and being with his family. In 1975 he traveled with his family to Italy where he was able to visit the birthplace of his parents in Tusa, Sicily. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
Mr. DiGangi is survived by his wife Marion DiGangi, whom he married
in November, 1967; stepchildren, Virginia Lawrence of Kennebunk, Maine, Joyce Springsteel of Mystic; Jeff Lawrence of Key West, Fla.; a brother, Ernest DiGangi of Gales Ferry; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by siblings Philippa, Angelo, James, Rose, Frances, Mary Margaret, and John; and a stepson, James Lawrence.
The funeral will assemble at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London, and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 10 A.M. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Joseph Cemetery, Norwich.
Calling hours are from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

John Stroneski
Salem — John R. Stroneski Sr., 69, of 34 Fairy Lake Road, died Tuesday evening at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, New London. He was born in New London on March 24, 1933, the son of Charles and Helen Snoesky Stroneski.
He married
Dorothy Mercier in Chicago, Ill., on April 2, 1960.
Mr. Stroneski served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 until 1955.
He worked for the City of New London as a maintainer for 38 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of VFW Post No. 189 in New London.
Besides his wife, two sons survive him, John R. Stroneski Jr. of Boston, and Charles and his wife Donna Stroneski of Waterford; a daughter, Theresa, and her husband Scott Herbert of Waterford; a sister, Bertha Duran of Venice, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Stroneski, and Saxon and Samson Herbert.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Joseph Stroneski; and a sister, Elsie Eggleson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Quaker Hill. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New London.
Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. on Thursday from the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London.
Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Jesse R. Long Jr.
EAST LYME - Jesse R. Long Jr. 69, of Atwood Drive, Niantic died Tuesday at the Mariner Healthcare at Bride Brook, Niantic.
He was born November 2, 1933 in New London the son of the late Jesse R. Sr. and Helene White Long. He married
Ethel Poulios in New London on November 2, 1957.
Mr. Long was employed for 41 years at Electric Boat in Groton.
He enjoyed coaching and teaching children. He coached East Lyme Little League, Babe Ruth, and Niantic American Legion Baseball for over 15 years. He also led and coached in the Catholic Youth Organization Basketball League. He was President of the Holy Name Society and a communicant of St. Agnes Church, where he taught religious education class for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel of 45 years and his five children, Dennis of Niantic, Carol Luobier and her husband John of Salem, Donna Long and her husband Michael Tinker of Niantic, Thomas of New York City and Jesse III and his wife Jill of Waterford. 9 Grandchildren, Danielle, Sarah, Courtney, John, Stephanie, Alexa, Nolan, Kathleen and Weston.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Friday at 12 Noon at St. Agnes Church, Niantic. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New London. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home 48 Grand St. Niantic. Helen Evangeline Prestegaard Lipp
Helen Evangeline Prestegaard Lipp, age 89, of Waterford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9th, 2003. She is survived by her husband: William L. Lipp; by her children: Julie Kuja, Kaethe Lewandowski, and Laurie Lipp; by her grandchildren: Erik, Kari, Kyle, Kyra, Krista, and her beloved dog Kelda.
The daughter of Gustave and Carrie Prestegaard, Helen was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 27, 1913. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and the University of Nebraska with a Master’s Degree in German and English. Helen taught school at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa before helping found Quincy College in Massachusetts and serving on the Board of Directors. Helen was an active member of her community serving as a volunteer at Quincy City Hospital and tutoring children in the Quincy School System. She was a long time church member at Bethany Congregational Church, Quincy, and in later years, enjoyed the fellowship of The First Congregational Church of Old Lyme.
Helen loved her family, cherished her friends and leaves her joyful essence with every one of us. Helen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday March 12th at 1 O’clock at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme 2 Ferry Road Old Lyme. Interment will be private. There are no calling hours. Thomas L. Neilan& Sons East Lyme Funeral Home 48 Grand St. is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service at the Bethany Congregational Church will be held at a later date and time.

Suddenly on Oct. 3, 2000, Walter J. Krempa, beloved husband of Dorothy Koelle Krempa for fifty five years of 42 Haverford St., Hamden. Father of Robert Krempa of Ashland, MA and David Krempa of Daphne, AL, brother of Edmund Krempa of Haverford, PA and the late Albert Krempa. Also survived by 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and a great-grandson. He was born in New Haven, Aug. 23, 1915, son of the late Charles and Amelia Sowinski Krempa. He served in the US Army during WW II and worked in Insurance and Stocks. Before his retirement he was a trust officer at the former City Trust Bank. A charter member of the New Haven Jaycees, past chairman of the Pop's
Concerts, an avid golfer at Laurel View County Club, past president of the former Edgewood Club and he was a member of St. Rita Men's Club.
