Stephen Mastrianni
November 28, 1924 - April 3, 2011
Southington - Stephen Mastrianni, 86, passed away Sunday April 3, 2011 at Hospital of Central CT, Bradley Memorial. He was the beloved husband of Sophie (Askuntowicz) Mastrianni for 61 years.
He was born Nov. 28, 1924 in Southington, son of the late Steve and Mildred (Tinty) Mastrianni. He worked at Pexto Stow for 26 years and retired from New England Aircraft. He had attended the University of Hawaii. Steve was a WW II veteran in U.S. Navy with the Seabees. He was stationed in Hawaii and Midway. He was a past commander of the VFW, Kiltonic Post #72. Steve enjoyed gardening and was an avid woodworker.
Besides his devoted wife he leaves a brother George Mastrianni of Southington, several nieces and nephews.
Many thanks for the help given by family members and friends over the last few years.
The Funeral will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be with Military Honors at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St.
Irene Swider
January 1, 1928 - November 6, 2011
Southington - Irene (Bajek) Swider, 83, passed away on Nov. 6, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Swider for 63 years who recently passed away. Irene leaves behind her loving daughter Sandy Kujawski of Southington and her husband Joe, and three granddaughters Kristen, Kara and Katelyn and her son David Swider and his wife Nancy of Bristol, and granddaughters Amanda and Sara. Irene was predeceased by her brother Joseph Bajek and sisters Sophie Zyla, Ann Smuzewski, Ceil Suprynowicz, and Florence Mackiewicz. The majority of her life she was employed by the Fafnir Bearing Company in New Britain. She was an active member of St. Dominic Church and the Calendar House. Irene enjoyed painting, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
The funeral will be held on Thur. Nov. 10, 2011 at 10:30 am at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington. Visitation will be from 9-10 am at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Robert Orlan Wood
July 14, 1952 - August 7, 2010
Southington - Robert “Bob” Orlan Wood, 58, of Plantsville section, passed away at home on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from a massive heart attack. Born in Lewiston, Maine on July 14, 1952, a son of Robert Wood and the late Francis (Cobb) Wood, he had resided in Southington for most of his adult life with his wife and three children. Bob was a graduate of Edward Little High School-Class of 1969 and later received a bachelor’s degree from CCSU in accounting. Bob was a CPA establishing his own business, Wood & Associates, while working for his long-time employer, Goodwin College, Stone Academy and CT Training Center in East Hartford. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Southington Lions Club. He attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Newington.
Bob enjoyed taking his children and grandson to Rock Cat baseball games, fishing in Canada and ice-skating. He cherished his many baseball caps and his funny tee-shirt collection. Bob treated his clients like they were family and will be missed by those people whose lives he touched.
Bob is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lauren (Amenta) Wood, and their three children, Jennifer Wood of Forestville, Stephanie Wood and her boyfriend, Suraj Gunpat, of Waterbury, Kristi Wood and her boyfriend, Mark Karotkin, of Plantsville; his grandson, Dillon Oliviero and his father Dante Oliviero; his sister, Sharon Wood of Newington; his brother, David Wood and wife, Sandra, of Lisbon, ME; his father, Robert Wood and his wife, Millie, of Farmington, ME; several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his lifelong friends Joe and Carol DiPietro
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 296 New Britain Ave, Newington Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington.
Jeannine Ingram
October 19, 1934 - November 1, 2011
Meriden - Jeannine (Bacon) Ingram, 77, formerly a long time Meriden resident passed away on Nov. 1, 2011 in Las Vegas, NV. She was the wife of Roy Ingram.
She was born in Montpelier, VT the daughter of the late Clarence and Obeline Desmarais.
Jeannine was an avid bowler and was on several leagues and she enjoyed reading but most of all she loved her family.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Clifford A. Bacon and wife Laura of Meriden, Sandra M. Bacon of Stuart, FL, Joyce A. Williams and husband Doug of Meriden; Diane Kelley and husband John of Marion, OH and Brenda Cole and husband David of Las Vegas, NV. Her cherished grandchildren, Clifford A. Bacon Jr., Jennifer Bacon and Adam Williams and a great grandson Jaxson Clifford Lalone all of Meriden. She also leaves three step children and several grand and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by Wesley R. Bacon and their daughter Pamela J. Bacon.
A Memorial service will be held at a time to be announced in the spring.

David R. Dougan, Sr.
May 26, 1930 - November 7, 2011
Southington - David R. Dougan Sr., 81, passed away on Nov. 7, 2011 at HCC at Bradley Memorial. He was the husband of Beverly (Smith) Dougan.
Born in Manchester, he was the son of the late Harold and Harriet Dougan. David was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Southington Hardware for over 25 years. He was a member of the Southington Masonic Lodge No.33 AF of AM.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Christopher Dougan and Starr Sarrazin of South Meriden, Randy Dougan of Southington, Jody Doar and husband Anthony of Needham, MA, 4 grandchildren, Kristy and Kelly Dougan and Adam and Jonathan Doar, a brother John Dougan and wife Marge of Middletown. He was predeceased by his son David R. Dougan Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12 noon at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Calling hours will be Friday from 10:30 a.m. - 12 noon. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Charlie Hogan
August 11, 1940 - November 7, 2011
Cheshire - Charlie Hogan, 71, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at home. He was the loving husband and best friend of Rita (Grosser) Hogan.
He was born in New Haven on Aug. 11, 1940, the son of the late John and Mary Angelus (Leahy) Hogan.
Prior to his retirement, Charlie was an electrician and worked for Fiora Electric for over 30 years. He was a member of IBEW Local # 90. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Epiphany. Charlie was a member of Family Campers and RVer’s, CT FCRV, the Happy Wanderers. He enjoyed camping and playing washer toss.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Charles Hogan Jr. of York, PA, Charlene Spillane of Dallastown, PA, Eric Carta of Middletown, Christina Hogan of Enterprise, AL, Tracy and husband Paul Thurston of Greenwich, NY 6 grandchildren, Chrissy Spillane, Kelly Spillane, James Hogan, Paul Thurston III, Andrew Thurston and Joseph Thurston a great granddaughter Addison Denenberg.
He also leaves 2 brothers, John and wife Katie Hogan of Milford, James and wife Pauline Hogan of Clinton, a sister Mary Jane and husband Bob Thompson of Clinton also brothers-in-law Joseph Grosser and wife Barbara of Sommers and Frank Grosser and wife Blanche of Bethany.
He was predeceased by a daughter Carol Lynn Hogan and daughter-in-law Cathy Hogan.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Epiphany, 1750 Huckins Rd., Cheshire. Rose M. Flammia
July 12, 1923 - November 9, 2011
WOLCOTT - Miss Rose M. Flammia, 88, formerly of Delray Beach, FL and originally of Waterbury, CT passed away peacefully at Meridian Manor in Waterbury on November 9, 2011.
Rose was born on July 12, 1923, daughter of the late Joseph and Angeline (Martone) Flammia who were both born in Frigento, Italy and immigrated to Waterbury in 1899. She was the youngest of their ten children.
Rose graduated from Wilby High School in 1941 and began to work full time for Met Life where she made her career, retiring in 1983. She lived and worked in Stamford, CT from the early 1960’s until her retirement. After a few years of retirement she decided to move to Florida to spend her golden years. Rose loved going to church and was active in church communities including serving as a deacon to her church in Boca Raton, FL for nearly 20 years.
She also enjoyed traveling, golf, tennis and swimming. Often if you called her to say hi, she was just coming in or going to an activity. She could never sit still and always had a great sense of humor.
Rose is survived by her beloved nieces Marie Musso of Wolcott, Josephine Russo of Waterbury, Marlene Sickles of Cromwell, and Susan Flammia of FL, one beloved nephew Richard Harder of Wolcott and dozens of grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by all of her dearly missed sisters, Minnie Pugliese, Margaret Druchunas, Catherine Dunham, Mary Laccone, Ann Harder, Rosey Flammia, and brothers Henry, Rocco and Michael Flammia.
Funeral will be Saturday 10 AM from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd in Wolcott to St. Leo The Great Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hour will be from 9 to 10 AM Saturday morning.

Carol Ann Dragon
May 17, 1947 - September 15, 2010
Southington - Carol Ann Dragon, 63, of Meriden Waterbury Turnpike, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010 at home. She was the wife of Alan Dragon.
She was born May 17, 1947 in Northampton, England daughter of Joan Jones of England and the late Ronald Jones.
Besides her husband and mother she is survived by 2 sons, Nigel Dragon and his wife Tammy of Prospect, Paul Dragon and his wife Tamar of Orlando, FL, 2 brothers, David Jones and Robert Jones, 2 sisters, Wendy Doyle and Pamela Wells all of England, 3 grandchildren, Brooke, Tyler and Paige.
The Funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. is in charge of arrangements.
Joseph Pompey
March 17, 1914 - May 23, 2013
Joseph Pompey, 99, of New Britain, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Jerome Home.
He was born in Southington on March 17, 1914, the son of the late Carmen and Jennie (Lippia) Pompey. Mr. Pompey served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He spent many years working with his family on the Pompey Farm on Queen St. in Southington. In later years he lost his eyesight.
He is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great –great niece.
He was predeceased by 5 sisters, Florence Pompey, Josephine Pedrolini, Rose Milewski, Ann Haimes and Elizabeth Moon, 4 brothers James, Anthony, George and Thomas Pompey.
The family would like to thank the staff at Arbor Rose, Jerome Home and the VNA Health Care for their loving care and support.

Michael Louis Zommer
January 26, 1964 - May 20, 2013
Michael Louis Zommer of Plainville, passed away at home on May 20, 2013, at the age of 49, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous four-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), with profound fortitude and integrity. He was married
27 years to Maureen (Moore), and together they raised three children, Michael, Jessica and Melissa, who survive their father. Michael devoted his life to his family, including his parents, Michael and Linda Zommer of Southington. He was born in New Britain on Jan. 26, 1964 and graduated from Southington High School in 1982.
He was an officer of Waste Material Trucking Company and property manager of Southgate Apartments, both Zommer family businesses. He found joy in simple times, fishing in Lake Winnipesaukee, cooking for his family, and being a Red Sox fan.
Michael is also survived by his three siblings, Michele Zommer of Southbury, Melinda Zommer of Southington, and Mark Zommer of Farmington, and his mother in-law Vivian Moore of Southington, brothers-in-law John Moore of New York and Jim Moore of California a sister-in-law Mary Grouten of Farmington, as well as 13 nieces and nephews who range from age one through 27. His friends and family will treasure the memories of Michael's humor, spirit and gentle ways — and will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother Helen Zommer and his maternal grandmother Irene Sandino, who he cherished.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd; for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
